Did you replace the little condenser thing on the distributor? I had that go once, bloody thing just wouldnt go. would idle fine but under load, no mojo.
-
ohhh man that's cool. We are gonna need more pictures. Its rear wheel drive yeah? No crazy american bumpers on that model? If the ECU as as simple as i think it is, i would start by trying to find a pin out for the ECU. then checking for +12v (constant), +12v ignition (tells the ecu to turn on), a good ground. If you have those things. Now it would be time to make sure that whatever triggers the ECU to tell the motor it is spinning is working. which is probably a signal from the distributor. I dunno the details but its probably a hall effect sensor or similar, which generally should not give any trouble, but i guess its possible its had it. If it is determined that the ECU is not working, it might pay to open it up and check for damaged components or dry solder joints. ~35yrs old electronics can have dry solder joints, quick tap with the soldering iron could fix them.

Where abouts are you to have a 4ke starlet? I want a kp61 starlet:(

Drop the 4ac for a Beams for 4agze (turbo)
ke70dave replied to RouteBeer's topic in Engine Conversions
It's hard to beat a 4age in an ae86. With all the parts ready you could do the conversion in a weekend.- 7 replies

Very nice job. Amazing how quiet it is hey. When i pulled the fan off my old 4k it was incredible now quiet it was without the fan. it just ticked away at traffic lights. instead of WHWHHUUURRRRRR friggen hurricane sound out of a 1.3L. I should do the same as you describe to my bmw (which i think ive menteiond twice in this thread?) if for no other reason that having so much more room for activities in the engine bay.

Greetigs, and welcome. Have a bit of a look around at some of the highpowered builds. the issue with the ke36 is the leaf springs and the width. If you are going to be heavily abusing the diff you really do not have much choice but to pick a chunky diff that will take the least amount of modifications to make work in your car, but the reality is a ke36 is ~40yrs old. Anything you wannna put in there is going to be a complete custom job. You also need to look into what you are going to do about the centre. An open differential is not going to be very fun with an LS1. Possible options include: - R31 skyline - comes with disc brakes - there is an oem LSD but its shit - you can buy a KAAZ LSD to suit ($$$) -YR22 Torago - smaller than a hilux diff, comes wiith Drums but disc brake conversion is somewhat documented, LSD from an Altezza fits. OEM available and aftermarket options -the great honking hilux diff - A monster. various LSD options around that i cannot recall. - Some volvos back in teh day have a differential that ive seen used before that has an LSD option. i cannot recall details on this either. You will also need a custom tailshaft to suit (~$500 for a 1 piece) Shortening, modification and sorting out the differential centre of any differential is going to be costly.

Got a photo of what you are dealing with? Drain the tank, take it to a hydraulics shop. They will either get it off and fix it up or cut and braze on a new fitting:)

I thought you moved back to NZ, if you did Welcome back to queensland:) My mum has one of those corollas. not a bad car really. I remember hers having quite a nice interiour.

nissan s13 knuckles on ke70 for drifting
ke70dave replied to hamada88's topic in KE70 Technical Questions
I'm on the phone but if you give it a Google there are a heap of threads on rollaclub and also ae86driving club where I mention my experiences. I tried about 4 different s13 setups in my ke70. Good and bad. Essentially I wouldn't do it again on a street car. Track only drift toy perhaps. -
As you alude to i think most fuel tanks sitting in a yard are going to be rusty too. My mate recently gave life to a 46yr old VERY rusty civic tank with this stuff. I saw the final product and i would highly recommend it. http://www.ppcco.com.au/por19.html Not cheap, and i dunno where he bought it from but damn it is a good product.

I'm at work on a saturday, in lismore, in the rain, in a sewerage treatment plant. and yes, no coffee:( Maybe the solution is to go and get a coffee. It sounds like you are just having trouble undoing a fuel hose? Thats not a good enough reason to get a new fuel tank. time to get it undone using any method possible. repair it and use your old tank:)
-
Try Aldi. if they dont have one, you will have to get one from gumtree or a wrecking yard.
-
Things to do/check if it were me in your situation - Check how they have connected the pipes at the tank. there is a suction an overlflow and a breather. make sure the breather is connected to your carbon canistor. Often when people hook them up they hook them up wrong. sometimes the overflow and breather gets mixed up. -carby kit in the carby, its cheap, its tedious, a good saturday afternoon activity. with a beverage of your choice. -all rubber hose replaced with high pressure fuel hose. its cheap as. I would not bother with the low pressure stuff. High pressure EFI hose all the way. -GOOOD hose clamps. The type with the little bolt. you get them from industrial parts mobs, cheap as -new fuel filter All up about $80 total. few hrs work.

Nice! So those guys are still there hey. I havent been there for years. Last time I got them to do some odd ball machining for some coilovers....in 2009!
-
Kickin' a few goals here i see. Nice work. Interesting to see the dyno results. Though id be more interested in your thoughts on how it drives under "normal" use with that new setup. Nice photo of your daughter too! shes grown up fast. Our little fella is 5 months now. Time flies.

It will probably come close with some tunnel bashing, or get the MIG out and make the tunnel bigger. Youve got alot of problems to solve to make a 300hp ke35 not feel like a death trap. My brothers 300hp well setup S13 felt insanely scary as a passenger. Was ok as the driver, but man 300hp in a light car is a scary thing.

Sounds like you are having some success. Years and Years ago when i installed that 4age of i bought off you into my ke70 beast, I had Brad around to wire it up and the bloody thing would not run right, missing and carrying on wouldnt even free rev. wouldnt do anything. At my whits end i unplgged the TPS.....ran perfect. Threw a spare TPS on i had and all was good. . Seems both the oem ecu and your adaptronic do strange things when given a TPS signal they dont understand.
-
If that is a bmw tps it might be worth checking the polarity. I thought they had the wires different to most.
-
That looks rather delicious. Just think, when you find that TPS connector you will have a spare;) I will have to drop around again one of these days for a chat, been too long. Maybe once i'm finished up in lismore.

Very cool. Love it. Where did you get your individual throttles from? Edit. Read back and found. RhD engineering eh. He sells an e30 kit too....
-
Well done mate. that looks fantastic. I loved living in the snow in canada, but damn snow must be annoying trying to get actual things done.
-
Yerp. That is dedication. I like the actual painting, but holy moly i hate panel prep. Good on you for your persistence.
