  1. Hey guys after taking off the 32/36 off my 4K due to idle problems, I have put the standard 4K carby on which was running fine for a few days. It then developed similar problems to the weber, but the 4K carby has a bit of shaft play. I have replaced the coil pack (after finding it had water in it and was a bit rusted, dizzy points, and I have replaced the perished fuel lines, but it still has the idling problems. I have a standard 3K carby, which I am now putting on, which has no shaft play and appears to be in great condition. Anyone else got any ideas, and what will the 3K carby be like on the 4K. Don't really care about performance at this stage, just need it running reliably as I have it entered in the Bay to Birdwood this Sunday. Thanks, Ben.
  2. Some progress pics from the last week and a half. Will take some pics with the whitewalls and hubbies tomorrow.
  3. Ok sorry, but just to clarify do I turn down Anzac and its the 1st on the right, or go through anzac and 1st of right?
  4. Over the last two weeks my KE20 has gone under a transformation, becoming the nanna spec ride I've always wanted. I bought it just over 3 months ago these were the basic specs when I first got it. Vehicle: 1974 Ke20 Corolla 2 door sedan Engine: 4KC 1.3 litre Mods: full rebuild 5 years ago (specs unknown), all i know it does have a mild cam and goes pretty hard for a 4K, 3 month old head ported and polished, 32/36 DGV Weber, Redline air filter, 4-2-1 extractors, 2 inch exhaust. Driveline: 5 speed, heavy duty clutch, 4.3:1 locker. Brakes: Standard. Suspension: short stroke front shocks, heavy duty Pedders front springs, reset leaves. Wheels: 12x5 Globe rims, 165/75 tyres. Exterior: White paint, most original (great condition), some resprayed, minor rust in lhs front guard cut out and replaced with new metal, no other rust other than small 20c piece sized bubble behind lhs rear wheel. Interior: original rear seat no rips, absolute overrated condition, modified Hyundai Excel front seats, reshaped and retrimmed to match, custom black vinyl centre console, monza gear knob, 3 inch tacho on steering column, Pioneer mp3 player, Pioneer 6 inch splits, Pioneer 6x9s. Now all plastic (grille, under grille trim, front corners, bonnet trim, scoops, and taillight surrounds) painted black, black 12x4 inch stockies in 155/80R12 Bridgestone B80 tyres with 1/2" whitewalls, centre console removed, cd player relocated to glovebox, picnic rug in boot ( :P ), standard 3k carby with overrated air filter, new 2 inch exhaust with single offset flow muffler, 3 inch rear pipe and 3 inch chrome droopy tip, and last but not least gave it all a good clean, polish, tyreshine, pressure washed all engine bay and undercarriage. Nanna/pimp spec nearly complete now, get ivory ventians early next week, back will be lowered another 2 inches next week, lawn bowls sticker. Then hopefully after Bay to Birdwood the dent in the rhs front guard is getting repaired along with the rust bubble behind the rear wheel, and a few other small dents removed. Will have a few update pics to go up tomorrow. So heres what mine looked like less than 1 and a half weeks ago.
  5. Bit of an update on mine. Now all plastic (grille, under grille trim, front corners, bonnet trim, scoops, and taillight surrounds) painted black, black 12x4 inch stockies in 155/80R12 Bridgestone B80 tyres with whitewalls, centre console removed, cd player relocated to glovebox, picnic rug in boot ( :P ), standard 4KC Aisan carby and filter painted black, new 2 inch exhaust with single offset flow muffler and 3 inch rear pipe and 3 inch chrome droopy tip, and last but not least gave it all a good clean, polish, tyreshine, pressure washed all engine bay and undercarriage. Nanna/pimp spec nearly complete now, get ivory ventians early next week, back will be lowered another 2 inches next week, lawn bowls sticker. Will have a few update pics to go up tomorrow. So heres what mine looked like less than 1 and a half weeks ago. It has had one hell of a transformation now though.
  6. Yeah, thats easy to find then.
  7. What road is Bunnings at Mile end on mate, don't head out that way often. I wont be staying out too long because I've got Bay to Birdwood the next day, waking up at 5:30 ftl! :) Should be good though, my mate is coming in his AE92 as well. do you have any idea as to how many cars will be there? Ben
  8. I aint gettin the Mazda anymore so I'll have the KE20 there, looking smicker than before.
  9. With a bit of luck I should have the new car out there. That is if its allright to bring out a Mazda?? Ben
  10. Damn Scott thats looking mighty fine! Lovin it!!
  11. Yes, so would I and it seems thats the direction I'm going now.
  12. Yeah I know makes no sense, a 1.2-litre non turbo rotor can't be registered in a KE20, but a 1.8-litre turbo four cylinder can be.
  13. Lesson learnt is that rotors rock. haha I will most likely be going ahead with 13B conversion, but wont be till next year. I'll keep you guys up to date on the project. Ben
  14. Wow, that makes sense, you can engineer a CA18 (with 130 or whatever kw) into a KE20 but not a 13B (which has under 100kw).
  15. Cheers, Sim.
  16. Hmm, yeah thats pretty much what Ive been thinking. rotor will have its difficult parts with fitting the engine etc, but may be a lil bit cheaper and can produce 130rwkw plus. the rotor will also require less wiring, piping et.c My mates old FC used an unbelievable amount of fuel, which may be another downer. And yes rotors do sound awesome, not to mention loud lol. CA will have the same difficulties plus the added problem of cooler, piping, EFi set-up, but will be capable of more power, and will be more drivable being a very lightly tuned (to get 150rwkw) four-cylinder.And also all that torque will be a load on the standard locked diff hey. Are either of these engines able to be engineered? Oh and the reason I havent considered an SR is becuase they're just queer, even if they do make more power and torque. Ben
  17. Hmm, explain.
  18. Anyone know any other mods required for it to fit apart from custom engine and g/box mounts and modified crossmember. I would obviously need a modified tailshaft as well. What mods would be required to the fuel system as obviously the CA is fuel injected. Ben
  19. Hi another engine conversion I have been contemplating is the CA18DET out of the S13 Silvias. This would go like stink, making an easy 150rwkw with just exhaust, cooler, pod filter. that sort of power in a 900kg car should run easy 12s and be capable of some mad skids. Whats youy opinions and what mods would be required to fit it and obviously the matching 5 speed box. Ben.
  20. THAT IS ONE VELLYY NICE KE20!!! and all those pics on page 2 were taken just down at my place at the Modbury bowling club and footy oval. If anyone knows where this car is I wouldn't mind putting in an offer too. Ben
  21. Thats what I was thinking hey, The Modbury Bowling club is right next to me pretty much.
  22. Hey guys just wondering if any of you may have seen a Lawn Bowls club sticker on some old Grandpas car around the place. I want to get one for the KE20 and slap it on when its done LOL. I know I've seen one in someones avatar but they may have been interstate. Ben
  23. Pitty my car wont be as finished as i would like, but should be good fun.
  24. Yeah I'm thinking either a worked 130hp N/A high compression 4K or a 4K with just minor mods with a J pipe mounted T25 almost similar to Taz RX's set up. I can get machining and engine work somewhat cheaper as a friend of my dads does all this and builds many BIG hp V8 drag cars, burnout cars etc. How much power would a 130hp N/A 4K make at the wheels? and the the T25 turboed 4K?
  25. Yeah mate I will be selling the Globes, Give me an offer and When I put the stockies on you will get first bid. Also Sim what colour silver are your grille, corners and other bits painted?? as mine are a darker grey and want to repaint them in the exact same silver. Ben.
