  1. new turbo time in next couple of weeks (ended up getting a pt6765 billet precision), first were going to dyno it again with my current turbo (t66) at 30psi then dyno it with a t04z without changing anything else then dyno it with the precision turbo to see the differences between the 3. they are all basically the same wheel sizes just different design so will be interesting
  2. good to hear the gearbox was cheap to fix, i wouldnt be to worried about the zoom write up, when i had mine done i think they just made half of it up. there is a plus to you breaking your gearbox but, it gives me a chance to get my new turbo on and catch up
  3. keeping the 235's as well for the street atleast they sort of get traction, normal tires you can't even boost it without them spinning
  4. new tyres showed up today 255/60 15 et streets also new 8 inch bands for my new rims. at the moment i only have 235 on a 7 inch rim so should give me a little more road contact and traction hopefully. also got my custom springs made to stop it squating so much the springs i have at the moment are 185 pound and the new ones are 230 pound, no body could really give me an answer on what spring rate to go to so it was a bit of a guess so time will tell how well they work. i could have gone stiffer but i still want it to be comfortable
  5. new plates are ordered
  6. put the car on the hoist the other night just to check a few things over as i doesnt get much looked at apart from regular oil change, and realised that one of my vacuum hoses was blown of the powersteering switch so not sure how long that had been off but will have to start putting zip ties on my vacuum hoses for the next boost setting. also ordered some parts from japan land to go on the shelf for when there needed, oil pump and head gasket are actually pretty well priced for genuine parts
  7. yeh I'm not really worried about the motor it is stock which is good cause i could have spent $5000 on a motor and it would still be broken from the same thing. i have a readers thread on performance forums for the cortina, you should if come and said hi just remind me who you are i have a terrible memory
  8. count me in for next year, hope your gearbox is an easy fix
  9. it was a sard one same as what i use on everything, it was fairly old but and had been sitting so id say the rubber in it had gone abit hard
  10. cortina is being gay, first had dramas with gearbox on dyno and fixed that, then tuned car and went to finish tune next day and was randomly going very lean halfway through ramps on the dyno, clamped off fuel return hose and all good so replaced fuel reg and was getting it ready to go back on dyno and i think it has broken a ring land in the motor has a rattle when cold but goes away when warm. so i was going to pull the head off to do camshaft and springs but now will be pulling motor out and either put another stock piston in or buy a set of acl hypatec pistons
  11. so i have a spare engine and gearbox now so I'm not as worried about breaking this one, also bought a hoist so working on cars got so much easier
  12. looking good mate hopefully they get it finished soon
  13. yes for now cressida will get the goods, cortina wil stay as a 400hp cruiser for a bit. i don't think you will have much drama catching me
  14. haha cheers, also my current turbo will be for sale in the near future if anyone is interested
  15. so me and 6boost came to an arrangement (thanks kyle) and now cressida will be getting one of the new precision billet 6766 turbos and 6 point cage, turbo will be enough to get me to 9.5 quarters, not sure if the gearbox and standard motor will like it but wont stop me trying
  16. it definately makes more sense will see what its like with 400hp before i decide
  17. yes money is a little thin at the moment, but the main reason that i havent done a cage is because I'm not sure which car to put it in cressida i can get to run high 9's no worries but past that i will have to change a fair amount of stuff (gearbox and turbo mainly), but cortina its probably as easy as putting pistons and rods in my motor e85 and 30psi (550-600rwhp) and should be able to run 9.5 or better
  18. for those that followed the cortina awhile back, finally put it on the dyno today and made a lazy 350rwhp on 13psi. will be fixing a few things this week then will be getting tuned to around 18psi which should see the 400hp mark then I'm proabably going to change the camshaft to get me up to around 450rwhp on 20psi or less. that shoud get me to around 10.5 quarters depending if i need to change suspension or not. will drive it like that for a while and see what its like before we push it any furthur.
  19. update is my et streets are bald after 2000kms (this is my 3rd set) as they still spin on the road so going back to 215/15 tires as they are cheaper to replace every couple of months will just use the mickey thompsons every now and then. also for those running pump e85 it pays to change your fuel filter every time you change your oil ive done around 5000kms since i last changed the fuel filter and it was half blocked, which was enough to make it run leaner and was harder to start. I'm also trying to save for a cage, but everytime i have the money bills seem to come up but hopefully by the end of the year cage will happen. one of these will also hopefully happen soon, which will be plenty to get me easily into the 9's it will give me hopefully between 50-100rwhp more than the turbo i have now http://www.precisionturbo.net/Street-and-Race/ss/800-1-000HP/details/Street-and-Race-Turbocharger---PT6765-CEA/270
  20. yeh thats what i was thinking but don't really want to spend money until i know for sure, as i may even sell cressida or cortina to fund it which i don't really want to part with either but see what happens
  21. both not really going to cut it in the power department. standard 1jz with 35psi and built 1jz 4speed auto can get me to 600+rwhp which will be needed to get me to a 8 so makes it much cheaper in the end
  22. yeh I'm holding off to see if the new laws get approved, you don't have any info to when or if the ncop is happening? ive got a mate that does mods plates for a living and he thinks there may be ways to do a firewall change legaly but will have to look into that more
  23. its my birthday this month so I'm accepting donations for turbo and roll cage incase everyone couldnt decide what to get me. ive been saving money but unsure what to spend it on, cressida, cortina or ke55. i really want to do a 1jz ke55 but unsure if the mod plate laws are going to go through to make it legal as i would want it to be registered
  24. that sucks balls
  25. I'm not going to be racing at jamboree, so will be good to watch yours
