  1. pulled my convertor out sunday and got it made bigger cause lag is gay, also bought another trans cooler because the oil in my gearbox was black then i went overboard and also ordered a alloy radiator. convertor now goes easily to 4200rpm so can't wait for some more boost.
  2. had to go to a mates wedding last weekend which was 1000km round trip so took cressida as it is my most reliable mode of transport, made the trip there fine then my ballancer decided it wanted to become two pieces so being 500kms from home what else do i do other than go to repco and buy some sikaflex (mind you it cost me $24 from repco for a cartridge of sikaflex when we buy it at work for about $7 same product). so after i recovered from being bent over from repco i applied the sikaflex to the inside part of the balancer that was still bolted to the motor and slid the pulley back on. i then quickly put the belt on and started the car for about 10 seconds so the belt could make sure the pulley was running true before it dried. i then left over night to dry and drove the 500kms home the next day. then after arriving home decided it best to buy a good balancer instead of just replacing it with the spare standard one i had. so got onto Jamie at Forced Fed Performance and he did me a great deal on a Ross metal jacket balancer. so now i can do 8500rpm and not worry about my balancer exploding.
  3. i did it that way to give more room for the turbo and dump pipe, just means you have to run a longer pipe from the turbo to the carby.
  4. yeh it does face backwards
  5. glad to see my parts went to a fellow rollaclub member
  6. yes the red one we did the conversion back in about 2002 and its still getting around. it used to go alot better than it does now, the conversion was done on this cressida at the same time the cortina was done. i only ran the cortina once at the drags and it ran 12.6 119mph ran lean about 3/4 track and melted 5 pistons it is still one of my favourite cars ive owned
  7. drags were as expected i could get the car up onto boost on the street but as soon as i got to the drags couldnt get it to stall up. so only got one run lots of oil downs, ended up running 12.9 at 114mph 2.4 60 foot i hit boost cut in top gear so probably lost a couple of mph. convertor is going to get changed in the next couple of weeks and should hopefully see me into the 1.6-1.7 60 foot area which combined with another 2-3mph should see me around 11.5-12.0 somewhere then we are changing the exhaust to 3.5inch and another 5psi boost hoping for around 450-500rwhp and at least 120mph and low 11's and eventually high 10
  8. just went for a drive to try and get it onto the convertor a bit better, to start with best i could get was about 3700rpm on the foot brake/hand brake at the same time and with my antilag button pushed (button hooked up to input on microtech, when the button is held timing is retarded 25 degrees accros the whole rpm range and 12 points of fuel are added accross the whole range to help bring boost on) . then adjusted my exhaust cam gear to 3degrees retarded and went for a drive and holding the anti lag button managed about 3900rpm with foot brake/hand brake, then adjusted intake gear 3 degrees advanced and went for another drive and both brakes on standing on the accelerator hard it flares to about 3700rpm then holding the antilag button for about 3 seconds brings it to about 4200 then you have about 3psi boost which helps flare it to about 4600rpm and 12psi before the brakes wont hold anymore. so all going well if i can get it to work then same at the drags then might even see an 11 first time out.
  9. also thinking about taking the cressida to the drags tomorrow converter still needs to be bigger so will probably run crap 60 foots but will at least get an idea of mph before i pull the convertor out.
  10. lucky its a vg then :P I'm usually a fan of the steel wheels to but its the wifes car as well and she loves the bling. i have a set of steel wheels for the contina to go with some white walls
  11. the name actually started when i used to have a cortina with a 1jz in it, was more of a sleeper than this one but i do like the cortinas. this cortina should be exciting when its finished
  12. guys at MTQ are really good as you can tell by the dyno sheet i borrowed there dyno to tune the car, i get my mate to tune it for me (forced tuning and performance). but if you need any performance/turbo parts let me know as i can arrange them at discounted prices, i work at Parts For Cars in Prescott st. I'm supprised you don't see the cressida getting around the wife drives it to work everyday
  13. dyno today 17psi pump fuel
  14. heres my sunday cars
  15. I'm hoping for both of those. i may have to get a different convertor yet as i got it done to suit standard camshafts and now with the 280 degree ones it doesnt have enough low down torque to flare the convertor as far as it used to. but will see how it goes
  16. done a bit more on the cressida this week, fitted a set of r32 gts-t skyline calipers and mazda MPV rotors and also fitted an MV autos valve body that works much better than the crappy toyota valve body. hopefully tune wednesday or thursday
  17. i bought some tires the other day M/T et street 235/60/15 and like the previous sets i have had they work great, hoping for dyno next week and then drags shortly after. goal is mid 11's first time out then some fine tuning and maybe high 10's
  18. yeh its my wifes daily she takes it to work everyday
  19. thought i would put some info up of my wifes daily driver that she has had for about 2 years, i bought it for $1500 registered with the standard 1jz already fitted (the owner thought it had a blown headgasket but it didnt so was a bargain). engine: 1jz standard bottom end, head ported by JHH, 280 degree 9.4 JUN camshafts, 6boost manifold, 45mm turbosmart wastegate, t66 garret turbo, sard 550cc injectors, walbro pump, sard fuel reg, 600x300x100mm intercooler, gates camgears, microtech ltx16, 4000rpm convertor, standard a340 with mv autos valve body, grande lsd diff, mazda cx9 20x7.5 inch wheels, chaser front brakes. heres some pics, car is currently on 12psi and should be getting tuned in about a week to 22-24psi.
  20. have made the exhaust 2 1/2 inch all the way to where the dump pipe will go, this is a picture of the piece over the diff. i scored the muffler for free and i think i used 4 90 degree bends and some left over straight pipe i had lying around so all up the exhaust cost me about $60
  21. yeh I'm going to use a ke70 manifold and open the hole up slightly, I'm on a budget build so not going to the trouble of making a complete manifold
  22. can't beat the j pipe for a manifold
  23. toowoomba QLD
  24. no boxed in carbys is old school and not needed, as long as you run a rising rate fuel reg and add 1psi of fuel pressure to every 1psi of boost pressure your fine. webers also have a plastic float which helps, metal floats tend to crush around 15psi. all the gaskets and so forth in the carby are fine with boost as its no different to the gasket on the intake manifold. so basically all i need to do is change the secondary jet so its big enough to supply enough fuel and away you go. i have had mates use the standard corolla carbys and they work well just after about 6 months you need to replace the rubber boot on the pump plunger as they eventually split from the boost pressure. blow through turbos are starting to really get popular i have a mate that has a 408ci capri with blowthrough gt47 and it made 1100rwhp on pump fuel and its still a street car
