  1. Yeah i used to... you could probably my tyres howling over in perth when I was pulling into a car park  I also run very sticky rally tyres on the rear... the extra stress on the diff leads to a significantly shorter lifespan. (i've already chewed two)
  2. Yeah, welding the sucker up works fine, but this one still gets driven to the shops occasionally too so it would be handy to retain some sort of tarmac driveablity
  3. I think this will suit my rally application perfectly. Mainly cos I can't justify spending more on a diff than the car is worth....
  4. Kick it to me! kick it to me! I'm up for two if we're getting serious... Isn't it amazing... My R32 has the most complicated, convoluted expensive-to-recondition viscous 7 plate LSD and yet some bloke in a shed came up with this. Which for all intents and purposes probably does just as good a job. KISS principle at work..... Love it.
  5. Maybe someone should contact this dude and see if we can't organise some sort of rollaclub arrangement... Or at least get some concrete details on how the mod works and what models he can do it on... Mods? Admins? Bueller? Anyone? post above beat me by a minute:
  6. You can perform that swap without any sort of engineering or blueplating or mechanic's consultation or whatever. Just update the engine number details with DOT and your insurance company.
  7. just get yourself an FD half-cut. That way you can use the factory engine loom and computer. as far as gauges go you'll just need an adapter for the speedo drive... and any auto electrician worth his salt should be able to adapt the factory guages to the mazda senders without too much drama.
  8. 5.7 LS1 will fit, but you're looking at big dollars with all the fabrication involved. A rotary is much more versatile.... the higher rpm available means you won't have to change diff ratios to get good MPH through the traps. The weight of a v8 would also completely destroy the handling. Don't be afraid of EFI... try it and you'll never look back. 13BT + aftermarket computer FTW

yeah sorry 'bout that... i got all "holier-than-thou" for a minute there. I'm a bit of a perfectionist... but also a hipocrite... my project '70 is a testament to tireless endeavour and preparation while the daily thrasher '70 has more dodgy fibreglass than a frikkin canoe
  10. replace the chain tensioner first... they're often flogged out a bit.
  11. wrap your right foot around a suzuki alto works and say that, punk :D

In my experience people with moustaches are hiding something... usually a deep seeded childhood insecurity like not being breastfed enough... unless your name is carlos and you're of latino origin and you have a very thin moustache in which case the only thing you'll be hiding is the location of your cocaine stash.

guys guys guys... you've reeeeaaaally gotta make sure you don't put bog over paint.... it'll lift at the edges within months. Bog is porous and when you rubbing the whole car down with wet n dry it soaks in and seperates the bog from the paint and you'll get big f@$koff cracks after you've repainted the whole car. And it'll rust again. Take the whole area anywhere near bog back to bare metal.
  14. Great idea for covering up rust holes...
  15. Aaah so that handle under the dash of my friend's charade isn't the handbrake... its a pull-start! bwahahahahah I'm hilarious
  16. Absolutely reeks of Ford GA/GB Meteor/Mazda 323... Bumpers look like they are stolen off a 7 series volvo!... But I like it. Purely because its different. I say keep it nice and original externally with maybe slightly lowered springs and some classy rims. nice work guvner ;)
  17. Most standard twinnies are 5-3/4 inch. Most sealed beam headlights are a standard size for ease of replacement. Rectangular KE70 are 5x7", KE30-55 singles are 7". RA40 celicas and others with the twin rectangular headlights are 4x6" Corona twins are 5-3/4. So is everything else from old sigmas to toyota coaster buses. You can actually buy all brand new gear including brackets and cups to hold the headlights from narva... with halogen bulbs instead of sealed-beam.... I'm adapting TA22 ones to my KE70. Not a big job but the bezels are a bit wrong-looking so I'm making my own complete grille.
  18. I'd leave it to the mechanic... its one of those jobs that you COULD do yourself... however for all the consternation it causes I've always left this particular job in the capable hands of someone in possesion of a hoist and a smattering of more appropriate flogging devices. My mechanic charges me fitty bucks and does it while I wait. (and its a regular occurence with my 'rollas due to their preference for less-than-perfectly-groomed dirt roads) There's a mob on ebay wo sell rack ends for 20 bucks too... PS the wife/girlfriend/car time balance is inversely proportionate to several factors... degree of difficulty VS time expenditure VS potential enjoyment co-efficient VS gnashing of teeth.... IE: if its a shit of a job, she won't care how long you spend working on it, and not her.
  19. aaah its not that hard ya big pansy... :)
  20. Not likely. But I can give you one for cost of freight only if you can't get one down there... I can throw it on a greyhound won't cost much
  21. That sucks hardcore dude.... You should be able to peel most of it off once it dries properly... then hit the rest with thinners on a rag. take your time and don't rub it too hard. wipe with thinners, then dry rag. wax on, wax off grasshopper.
  22. I'm not too well versed on the whole 3k/4k head thing... many on here are though. regardless I'd take whichever head you get down to your local reconditioners and get them to give it a nice once-over for the hell of it... can't hurt.
  23. Could be either. Grab a new head when you get a new gasket anyway... shouldn't cost you more than a 6 pack.
  24. I use toymods more as a technical database rather than a forum. There are a few decent people on there though... But yeah my registration got knocked back like 5 times before they let me in. Like its some mega-exclusive club or something...
  25. Hells yeah... celsiors rock. I was in japan a few years ago and took heaps of photos of the VIP dudes on the cruise and afterwards when they all met up in a shopping centre carpark and just hung out for ages... You should see the crazy shiznit these guys do to their cars :) apparently they have their "cruise route" all worked out beforehand to avoid speed bumps. Unfortunately I'm temporarily on dialup so I can't upload any
