Nope, its rooted. As soon as you try to weld it you'll most likely make a bigger hole as the metal will be very thin due to the rust. Quite a common occurence, condensation builds up overnight inside the exhaust and then pools up in your muffler, rusting it out.

This thread is bad for me. Now I can see myself accumulating a glut of smelly vans to pillage for bits. Like I don't have a whole 1/4 acre full of goddamn parts cars already. Damn you all. Taz... you need to change your avatar I am transfixed by it... its just so.... eccentric and mesmerizing

I concur... I have no talent, but I do appreciate and respect the work of those who do. I think the photoshop/freehand sectioning is a worthy idea too.

May the lord have mercy on he who dare cross this man and his frankenmotor....

I'll get a few prices and see how we go... See we have an abundance of vans up here, bit of an elephant graveyard really. All the backpackers buy them down south, drive them up here and can't sell them off cos there's just sooo damn many of em... most get abandoned and picked up by the council. You can pick up a running, rust free slightly banged up hiace for $50 from the abandoned vehicle auctions... EA-ED falcons even less. There were some monster trucks in town last weekend doing their thing in the showgrounds, they bought 20 of em to drive over :P

When you get it open, chuck a bit o grease in the striker... they often get dry and stuck.

They are if your local wrecker is an idiot :P

Sweet... think I have the gearbox questions sorted... whats the go with the diff in these things... also same as hilux perhaps? could be handy, already being 4x114.3 and all... Edit: ok, appears it is the same as hilux, not sure of ratios or width yet.

Heh... The only tagalog I know is from what I remember from my old phrasebook and what my brother's girlfriend teaches me, so I know a lot of words but not very good at putting them into sentences :P My Bahasa is the same... Really nice car by the way... well done. Most of the older cars I saw in the Phillipines didn't look that good
-
Yeah they'll be the correct lights for the car... I seem to recall all corollas exported to the the Philippines were the same as US thats all. Hope my Tagalog is ok its been years since I've spoken it... I only know basic stuff anyway :P
-
I'm making a roughly educated guess and saying Philippines based on the plates, and US Spec tail lights. Mabuti hapon, taggapin sa rollaclub. mo kotse asta malaki pasalamatan dahil sa ipakita ito sa sa amin  Am I right? :P

oooh dodge-styleee twin uprights...

Hmm... and by the looks, seperate bellhousing. I'm just wondering what series box it is... you'd have to expect it to be tough as nails being a commercial box and all... but I still wonder if that bellhousing could come in useful. K to what... hmmm

Yes... GB and diff pics please... grab a shot of the build plate too if you can

May I present, your new headlights. Circa Y2K Mercedes E-Class Sorta like this work of art... same lights, just without the inner spots.

I also noticed the other day that the townace runs a 4x114.3 PCD... interesting little tidbit of info if anyone was looking for some chaser/inteceptor-esque rims on their rolla, though they'd be a bit heavy. Also I discovered the Townace has the same floorpan/chassis as the Kijang/Unser in Indo and Malaysia, which makes it infinitely easier for me to source alloy wheels direct from the factory in Indonesia as I can just specify Kijang stud pattern with 0 offset... Anyway... carry on

Rollaclub Wont Work :(

Dubai is an interesting place... as long as you're aware of the local customs, like rubbing the side of your nose with your thumb is the equivalent of giving someone the finger :P I think it also means "I'd shag your missus, she's a nice bit of crumpet" although I was never brave enough to test it out. Also, most of the highways heading out of UAE have no speed limit, not that it would matter if they did, as the police fleet is mostly LHD commodores... and I can tell you from first hand experience that the ecotec runs out of breath at about 190kph  Oh and if you make it to the south of germany, check out a little town just outside Friebourg called Kirtzarten. There's a little bakery there.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......................... -
Funny you should mention... My first ever road registered car (all those years ago) was a "packing tape brown" KE55... and that technique was utilised quite often. Although the tape needed replacing every few weeks when it lost its adhesive qualities and flapped off.
-
Supercheap doesn't carry enough stock to bog this abomination up.... mind you, my last ke70 wagon gobbled up 5 litres of septone's finest filler and got through. Drove that one right around OZ in one trip :P
-
Yeah... I was going to remove the driveline by wrapping a rope around the body and tying it to a tree.... then gunning it in reverse

Picked this up today. Its been sitting under a tree in the hardcore rainforest near Kuranda for about 4 years... It has a wee bit of rust. And, to add some irony, it has one of these thingies It does, however, have a nice slick T50 and all the other conversion bits I need. Funniest bit was, I whacked a battery in, shlopped some fuel down the carb and it fired up after about 10 seconds :P

Aaaah c'mon... I didn't say NO dick... just a rapidly shrinking one. And just so you know, RE: Shrinky Winky - when it becomes anatomically necessary to sit down to pee, its time to change jobs. Or bungy jump, or drive really fast in the wet with the front brakes clamped off or something just to get the ol' adrenaline circulating again :P Ta for the congrats btw... I'm frikkin stoked... Oh hey nitephyre... you're in northgate yeah? If you see a fully bombed out blueish Supra with airbrushing on the bonnet cruising around on Toombul Rd, he's a good mate of mine, Scotty. Hit him up to go for a spin... that thing has about 700hp and is frikkin insane... accelerates so hard you almost swallow your own teeth. He works at the airport so every morning he bags it all the way up the gateway entry ramp into 3rd just for shits n giggles. He upgraded from the white NA supra he still has sitting in his garage... some people have too much money
