  1. Ask and ye shall receive...
  2. So I'm sure a lot of you have heard the rumours and seen the pics... So I thought I make a thread to dump pics, links etc. (rather than the arse end of the Aurion thread...) Chuck em up kids "Within days of announcing Toyota's formation of a "Committee to create interesting cars," this summer's Best Car Plus magazine reveals that the long-rumoured new AE86 type car has indeed been spawned by the group and should be in showrooms in the winter of 2008. The new article goes into some detail of the new car's spec. Under 4m (157½") long and 1.7m (67") wide, it's pretty low at 1.35m (53") tall, and engineers have been directed to keep weight below 1,000kgs (2200 lbs). Power will come from a 1.5L 2NZ-FE (the Toyota Echo/Yaris/Scion xA & 1st-gen Scion xB engine) good for 120 horsepower (interesting, as it only puts out 106 hp in its current state of tune). What has been unknown until this time is where Toyota would source a cheap RWD drivetrain, but Best Car has learned that it will come from new partner Fuji Heavy Industries - better known to you and me as Subaru. And the best news of all? The committee's final directive is to keep the new car's sticker price below 1.5million Yen. That's about $12,300 USD in today's money." I'd buy one... or three... :o Lets just hope its not all a monsterous crock of shit...
  3. I'll see your hell yes and raise you a 'ken oath I'll take three... cash waiting... hurry the f@$k up Toyota undefined
  4. No, but I don't drink beer so I forgive her. We brew biodiesel instead... free fuel ftw :o
  5. I've trained my GF to do all the fiddly shit jobs my big dumb manfingers have trouble with. She can swap a weber in 12 minutes now :o
  6. Apparently Hyundai Excel rads are the shiz, and fit rather well... the jellybean shaped X3 excels. Twin thermos. Oooh yeah.
  7. They should go on no problems at all... being 14 x 5.5... I had some on my KE55 many moons ago...
  8. Hire a young orphan boy to do it for you...
  9. Thought it might be something like that... Thats a cool little history lesson there... interesting stuff
  10. Should just be a small metal clip (U shaped bit of flat steel with a angled bit to grab onto) holding the lock barrel agianst the outer door skin... stick ya hand up there, you'll find it. Boot is the same.
  11. You forgot anything over 2 litre = pain in the arse to get engineered
  12. Is it just me or does this subject rear its ugly head every month or so... should be a "how not to" guide in the FAQ I reckon
  13. 'Tis but a scratch
  14. If someone brings a laptop with wireless and a webcam I'll come along, purely to reprimand those with bad table manners. Des I may need you to steal curly fries on my behalf
  15. Just out of curiosity, whats the dealio with registration of RHD cars over there...? I'm aware that its nigh on impossible bar a scant few excepted Japanese and British personal imports, but are classic cars a different kettle o fish? Over here we can import and register LHD vehicles over 30 years old for full unrestricted road use... does the US have a similar arrangement?
  16. Standard KE70 strut inserts are 43mm, AE86 are 51mm.
  17. Between my place and the highway I have the to drive down the most wallaby-infested stretch of road in the world... cane fields and nice tasty grass either side. I drive at 40kph at night to be safe. Had to replace bumper brackets and AC condenser on the AE92, KE70 has hit so many I've given up on replacing the stone tray now it'll just get bent again. In the new vehicle I do not concern myself with such pesky inconvieniences... :y:
  18. I'm looking for a pic, or a link, but I see naught but words and cheery little emoticons... But good luck regardless :y:
  19. What is this "ice" you speak of... I'm actually sweating just a little.... right now. :y:
  20. Thats actually quite amusing...
  21. Yep... you'll be on your arse for a couple of weeks and be flat out lifting up a mobile phone. Try to stay away from anyone with the flu or anything else contagious cos your immune system is basically shut down and you're liable to catch anything and everything floating around. Get some sunlight too. Your skin produces vitamin D when sun hits it, and it helps. So does sweating profusely so muster up the energy to go for a brisk walk until you're sweatin like a whore in church, hot shower, then pass out. Load up on B group vitamins until your piss is flourescent.
  22. The importation and compliance process is relatively simple being pre '89, you just gotta find one :P There are still lots of classics getting around in Japan, although the odds of finding a "Old Mr. Nakamura bought it new and drove it to the shops every wednesday since 1974" doesn't happen very often due to difficulty and expense of keeping an older car registered. They're out there, but mostly in specialist classic dealer yards with a big fat pricetag on the windscreen.
  23. Location Price And how many spare diffs does it come with
  24. oooh nasty... Don't go driving through any puddles Mikey.... or at least get some mudflaps... Gunna be mighty drafty come next winter too :P
  25. I disposed of two of these recently... one was column shift 4 speed with the quad headlights. ALSO rusty as sin. Its a pity these things rust out so badly, one was a perfect runner and drove really well...
