  1. Well... I'll be buggered. Jolly good show lads.
  2. Like dropping dirty big skids you flaming bogan
  3. My rallycar is a base-as-you-get-spec sedan and it doesn't have em either
  4. cross-ply involuntary sideways action ftw :P
  5. Anything with a ladder-bar chassis is the go. Unitary bodies are poo... with the exception of pre-1980ish volvos... those things last forever :P
  6. And a 4k will last longer than an 18R once you pop the radiator and start cooking things...
  7. J-spec are good... but also very busy and can sometimes take a while to respond to emails if you have a lot of questions. They do turn up some interesting stuff from time to time though. Join the mailing list. I recommend the Iron Chef... Click Nice guy... happy to answer endless inane questions.
  8. some povo-packs don't have it tedmeister...
  9. ooo k... so ALL beemer drivers are wankers...? Thats a pretty ignorant generalisation. Here's another one: You drive a corolla... does that make you're a nanna on your way to the bowls club? The new car is an Audi S8... that better?
  10. No... it really wouldn't. I love NZ... been there a zillion times, but I couldn't live there. NZ accounts for 43% of AU's immigration intake... unrestricted imports are probably one of the ways the government tries to entice people to stay :) That, and very relaxed legislation re: Man/Beast love
  11. Beemer sold. :D But... nipped down to sydney on the weekend to check out a few auctions... some tasty tidbits floating around. Made a smattering of bids but got pushed out of my price range on all of them, except one... Here's a hint Didn't meet reserve, so I've made an offer and we'll see if the vendor takes it :) If he accepts, I have one more decision to make: whether to stick it on a truck, or fly down again and blast my way back up the coast at exceptional speed and in exquisite style :P
  12. Depends what colour it is...
  13. AU also got the 260 and 280 Z series datsuns... I tried to restore a 280zx once and gave up. The L28 can be made to go pretty hard, but they really are a frikkin heavy lump of an engine... make sure you upgrade the front suspension and brakes. A lot. Maybe install a parachute as well...
  14. aaah yes of course, the clubmans.... are we talking about the UK westfield or caterhams?
  15. I use the phillips ones. The difference is amazing.
  16. Gotta make sure you get "UV cut" bulbs. Cost a bit more but won't destroy the plastic.
  17. Yeah and you have the option of column shift :D
  18. I actually did that once... gave a right lane sitting @ 85kph dosile cow in a sirion a little love tap... felt good. She was one of those irritating she-morons who matches the speed of the car beside/in front of her instead of watching her own speedo. Perhaps if she'd bothered to check her mirrors or turn down her stereo for 5 seconds (any 5) of the 5 minutes I was sitting up her arse, she would have noticed my flashing lights and beeping horn. PET HATE as someone who spends at least 7 hours a day driving, a lot of that time on 100kph dual-carriageways.
  19. Blinded just triggered a memory... I've actually had perished return lines as well... not major squirties all over the bay, but the hoses were cracked pretty bad and soaked with fuel after every drive. Give all the lines a good blow back into the tank with compressed air too... might be a restriction in the return.
  20. And the magic word... "engineered"
  21. hell... its a ladder-chassis vehicle... much easier to engineer any number of rediculous engines... 7.2litre F-series diesel anyone? :D
  22. Yeah... but just a few of the plastic surrounds, and then the 4 screws holding the actual cluster in. Once thats done, reach in behind it (from the left side is easier) and pull out the speedo cable and the 3 flat plugs that go into the back. Reverse the process to install the new one.
  23. Darwinian selection in full effect. Next mod: Lightened flywheel with an angle grinder. Bye bye legs.
  24. High 14's, providing no wildlife wanders onto the track, drawn by the seemingly instinctual urge to mate with your front bumper
  25. I'm going to assume its a pre-83 2wd hilux with a Y-series engine, but regardless, a 4A is not the road you wanna go down mate. Not enough torque, all custom to install. Go for an R-series from an 80's celica... ANY R motor will do.... just use the xmember from a later model 'lux and its a bolt in job.
