Yeah, I have odd tyres on the front, and one is an Australian Out of Rounder. Might be that. It starts at 105 km/h. Finishes at 120km/h. Mark

Turned out to be the fault of the A/C condensor. Old T/stat working nicely again.
-
Hey fellas do you think that a worn CV joint would cause "whel ballance" type vibration? I just had the wheels balanced. Stayed the same after as before. Mark
-
Pulled out all the firewall forward A/C stuff. Cool as now. Thanks fellas Mark!

Thanks mate, I guess I have more jobs to do! Matrk

Yeah, the new thermostat was working correctly, but it was running slightly hotter. But it appears substantially different to the original. It also open faster on a test (before I put it in). I am leaning towards a slightly blocked radiator, at this stage. Mark
-
Why put the old one back in? To see what -if any -difference the T/Stat made to the overheating issue. The new thermostat is "part number correct" for this engine. Its appearance is very different to the original. The new thermostat made the engine run slightly hotter. I also replaced a faulty thermostat gasket. Mark:)

LMAO!!!

Hey fellas, 4afc motor in the Rola 94 model Manual. it goes to a bit over half way on the gauge, when driving it cools down, then gets hot again when it slows down. The standard T/stat is 300k's old. It doesnt close fully. I put a new T/stat in at first. It went straight to (just over) 1/2 way, and stayed there. No up or down. Took the new T/stat out, and put theold one back in. Any ideas? Mark

Can ya fit an electric fuel pump to these engines? I don't mean EFI pump. Is it possible to block off the fuel pump hole with a blanking plate? The mechanical pump has 3 hoses coming out of it . Plus fuel lines. Mark -
I contacted "Jeez" as suggested, but no info there. "Reckons he only works on donkeys). :) Its the hose that goes- from the thermostat area- to the water pump. It goes into a pipe that runs under the manifold, that pipe then joins another another hose -that goes- to the pump. I will fit it today, if noone has any tips to keep some skin on my hands? Mark :)

can't get good photos because of the location of the hose. CH2297 is the jigger..

OK Thanks Mystic, Yeah, the oil seems to be leaking from above the gasket/seal thingy. I havent looked yet, but thats where its coming from. I guess need to pull it off to check it :) Mark -
Got one. Now- any tips on how to make fitting a bit less painfull? Mark
-
LOL. I have to replace it. The oil leaking from the fuel pump, has softened the hose. I replaced the little one. The bigger one is a different story. Got to find one first. Mark
-
CH2297. I think?
-
I don't know where it goes from there. Better go and have another look.
-
Nah. Its goes from the passenger side of the head-runs under the heater hose and under the inlet manifold, it is clamped at almost under the carby.. It looks like a bitch to get too.
-
4A-FC. the hose - about 30 cm ?- runs alongside the head. firewall side- its not the short length of heater hose, its just under that one. Its looks to be about 1 11/4" maybe dameter.can't find one, and don't know what its called, ( i have Googled it) Mark Sorry about double post. can't find the right button to delete the post

Thanks fellas, I was looking at the selectors yesterday. They do look complicated. Thats a good idea about skateboard bearings! Have a good look next week.I will change the gearbox oil too.Next week:) Mark

Hey fellas, I have an AE 93 I think it is. 94 with 1.6 carby and 5 speed. When I change gears, the shifter sticks a bit, then releases. I'm not sure where to start. Maybe a bit of sticky oil on the plates, or something else? Doesnt shake on reverse, and its done 317km. Like -if you wanted to do a fast change- well- you have to wait until your allowed. Usually 1 second tops, but I can't race SS Commodores like that. (kidding). Mark :)

Yeah, I've been thinking about it. I will take it off, and see where its leaking from. I thought it might have a pin running through it, like olden day fuel pumps. But I don't think it does. Thanks fellas Mark -
Hey fellas, I have a 1994 Corolla ae93 with the carby motor. My fuel pump is leaking oil. Yes - oil:). Does anyone know if they are "rebuildable"? If not (which I expect) , can anyone tell me where I might get one? I have looked on Ebay, but nothing. Are secondhand ones any good? I havent pulled the pump as yet, so don't know where the oils coming from. Apparently its pretty common? Thanks fellas Mark
