Well today I put the coilovers out of my drift car into this seems I'm upgrading, they are xt130 struts with 8kg hsd coilover sleeve kit with helper springs that I welded on, kyb AGX shocks with 4 way adjustable dampers, I also have some 50mm ajps RCAs to put on once I lower the rear end and wind it down a bit

Driving the car with all the new parts it's much better, I didn't realise how loose and un responsive the car was before, definitely worth doing seems it only costs a couple hundred dollars to replace the worn out front end!
-
And some pictures, was surprised with how much extra lock the ajps lock spacer gives! Also one of the old rack bush and how worn it was!

Well it's been a long while since any updates, lost my license for a year because my p plate fell down while on good behaviour, haven't started on turbocharging the 4k yet, but I'm getting my license back tomorrow, and while i was servicing it a few weeks ago getting it ready to go after sitting around for a year, I decided to put in some xt130 lcas I had sitting around that I had from my ae71 drift car, build thread is Ae71 Bt20v. And also whilst I was there I blasted and painted them, put in some ajps rack mount bushes, ajps lock spacer, ajps slim ball joints and superpro lca, castor rod and swaybar link bushes to stiffen up the front, am definitely keen to take it for a drive and see how it all feels with the new bushes! Will post again soon with feedback!

Here's the YouTube link, it is absolutely terrible quality so will need to work something out, but you get the idea :P haha its way too loud with 2.5inch straight pipe with one hotdog, so I bought a muffler to weld in today!
-
No idea how this video will turn out, probably bad quality, but here's a small video of me doing the S's at mallala matsuri, doing the wide line!
-
Paint/ trim codes KD UD HC obviously been converted to flat front :)
-
Body is pretty rough, it was an awesome daily but the weldy was annoying, it's an ae71 1984 it's the original colour, I can check the paint code for you
-
Haven't been doing much lately, just installed new rear brake shoes, drums and wheel cylinders so I shouldn't have to worry about have the wheel cylinder blow out from the pressure of the hydraulic handbrake, probably get rid of the air box set up and put some trumpets with filter socks on to tidy the engine bay a bit
-
And here's a photo from when it was the traveling rig! Had the camper (the tardis) decked out, bbq for breakfast and tea, sleeping wherever we parked up along the coast, was some good times! But never again! ????

It's not as stiff as people make it out to be I don't think, it all depends on your dampers, with it set to soft it's still firm but not harsh, but on the track it's pretty solid but gives the front end a good feel
-
engine bay and ugly interior, suits the ugly colour but I definitely need a decent seat because it was damn hard to hang on while drifting! Haha

Few things I've changed since I've got it getting it ready to drift HSD 8kg weld on sleeve kit with helper spring, stick welded it onto the strut myself no worries at all, (I am a boilermaker so it's my bread and butter haha) Keto Steering systems ae86 knuckles Cut and extended some ke70 lcas between the balljoint and castor rod for castor rod clearance when on full lock, tig welded and braced Ra60 rack ends AJPS Motorsport tie rods AJPS 50mm RCAs AJPS shifter rebuild kit new rack boots ball joints etc Got the engine running good still on standard ecu, still has dodgy coolant setup but that will be rectified before the next day out on track Has a hydraulic handbrake GkTech deep dish steering wheel Falcon choppies in the rear, will be replaced with something decent when I can afford too That's all I can think of, but the car drove awesome even with no wheel alignment, checked it yesterday and it was toe in 13mm so definitely not ideal! Haha
-
And how it is today! This is from mallala matsuri on the weekend blew a rear wheel cylinder on my second lap using the hydro handbrake, went and bought a diff from a mate and replaced the cylinder with another old one and didn't use the handbrake at all, did okay this was the first time ever drifting on the track

here is my AE71 that I bought running with a blacktop 20v running standard ecu, and running like shit with vacuum leaks and wiring issues, used it as a daily until I lost my license, (p plate fell down on good behaviour 😔 so I decided i would turn it into a drift car because I'll have a lot more fun on the track with it! Specs on how I got it, Weldy Chopped springs front and rear with kyb AGX shocks in the front with xt130 struts brakes and lcas And using dodgy coolant hoses going to the back of the engine with fwd cooling system Has a dizzy relocation to the front That's about all it had from the start!

I'm using 123 on the front atm too, seem good for steer never tried in the wet, I've got some supercat tyres on the rear ready to try out, I've had them on a daily before but never skidded with them, hopefully they do the job, I can get hiflys and nankangs cheap but never tried them either
-
Just wandering what tyres people have been using for drift, how long did they last?, how much power were you running?, psi?, did they delam? and were they ran backwards? (directional tyres) and of course the cost per tyre and how they performed! slippery or grippy, predictable at speeds etc. and also what front tyres do you run for a bit of grip! cheers! :dancetall: :dancetall: :dancetall:

how good is the local toyota dealer here in port augusta huw, haha like talking to a brick wall

standard blacktop 20v, have corona lcas so not massive camber yea i can really only afford 2 sets because I'm a poor apprentice haha
-
Hey I was just wondering about some of the rules and regulations they have at the event, as it will be my first time on the track in my 20v ke, and how many sets of wheels should I take if all goes to plan and can stay out for most of the heats? Plan on running in c class for my first time out

this thing has turned out awesome dude! props to you!

i love these as dailys! ive had 3. two of them were 300 bucks and the best one of all was 200 dollars and a hatchback with working aircon and radio! all 5speed manual, such good little cars

hahaha its more so its a little more fun to drive, gain a bit more knowledge and see how long it lasts with a simple setup with low boost settings, although i do have a spare engine just sitting there ready for a freshen up.... :hmm: maybe when i no that the motor can handle it ill have more boost haha
