  1. I just showed my girlfriend pics of Mark's and Glen's 'ronas. Her words exactly: "definitely like the white better. but still. bit of a grandpa car" Women just don't understand! :P
  2. True. It really is a shitbox, but it was my first car and I love it for that. It seems a shame to sell it because I wouldn't expect to get much more than scrap value for it and it's not like I need the money... The only real reason to sell would be because it's wasting space...
  3. Legitimate question. At this stage, it's a rides thread. I am yet to decide whether I want to sell her. Just looking for advice. Sorry if it's in the wrong part of the forum, I'm new here...
  4. Already considered that.. Not much would fit though! :P My brother's got a spare Nissan CA18 sitting in the shed, but we decided that significant firewall mods would be required... My godfather has a 2.5L V8 that would be perfect, but it's in his rod and he won't let me have it :P
  5. haha, brilliant! Started a thread for mine: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/65032-72-rt80-corona-on-her-death-bed-or-about-to-be-reborn/
  6. cool beans. I want some for my V8 Triumph project :D
  7. M.I.N.T.
  8. why does the word overrated come up as overrated??
  9. I've been watching ebay for about a year now. None in SA for sale :/ There's an old lady up the road from me who has a overrated-condition RT80/81 as a daily driver. I'm waiting for her to die or break a hip so I can buy it ;)
  10. When I was 17, I bought this as my first car. Paid $600 for it from a mate, spent alot of time and money getting her roadworthy and it was my daily for just over a year until I snapped a valve spring. I replaced the offending spring, but in the process, I discovered that the entire engine is full of crap. No idea how it was still running. It lasted a couple weeks after that until I snapped another spring. Couldn't find a full set of springs at any wreckers so I gave up and parked her in a shed. Engine still starts and it can be driven on and off of a trailer, but I really don't think the engine is worth saving. Running stock 1.5L 2R with 4speed. Drums all round needing new cylinders. (brakes lose pressure sometimes - scary!) Stock as. Completely grandpa spec. Interior is beautiful. Only have these two pics of her from when I first bought it. Paint is chalky and weather damaged, but from memory, there's not a spot of rust anywhere important. (apart from inside the engine!) She was a joy to drive, even if completely gutless. Most comfortable seats of any car I've owned! It has now been over two years since she was on the road, and I'm trying to decide what to do with her. I'm looking at buying a KE35 for a bit of fun, but I really can't justify buying a fifth car at this point, so I am considering selling up or parting out. After reading Glen and Mark's project threads though, I'm having second thoughts and considering keeping her and trying to find a new engine. Hopefully bringing her home tomorrow afternoon to clean her up and do some work. Will post more photos asap. In the meantime, If anyone wants to make an offer for her, I'll consider it. If anyone has a 2R or 12R in SA they want to sell, I'll consider that too :) Looking for advice as to what to do with her, as at the moment, I can't decide! :(
  11. Also, Glem, where did you get those side mirrors? They look sweet.
  12. Will do Mark. I'll also start my own thread for it once I get her back home.. Still deciding whether or not to sell. I really want this KE35 I'm looking at, but I think my parents would kill me if I bought a fifth car...
  13. Also, Mark, I love the venetians in the back! :) Full grandpa spec ;)
  14. Another beautiful 'rona! I'm bringing mine home tomorrow hopefully. Still haven't decided what I want to do with her, but some of the threads on here are really making me want to get her back on the road. Any ideas on where to get a running 2R or 12R in SA? I found a guy on toyota owners club who is willing to give me a 2R if I pay freight from Sydney, but that's probably not worth it
  15. I've got a '72 RT80 with the 2R in it still. Engine is just about dead though and I'm looking at selling it off cheap to make room in the shed for a ke35. Reading this thread is making me have second thoughts.... Don't suppose you have a spare engine you can post to me in SA? :P
