Looking good! Can't wait to see her running. Not long now?
-
I need to sell it if I'm gonna get this beetle on the weekend... Also thinking about selling my Triumph 2500 race car. Had some fun in it but it's not competitive enough to race really.
-
anybody keen to buy this? Still haven't fixed the engine but should be able to supply a complete spare head for it. Need shed space as I have just acquired a 1948 Chev Panel Delivery and am about to get a VW beetle too hopefully. Will make a sale thread once I have the new head and time and effort etc.

looks great! Can't wait to see it in the car!
-
Nope :( Been busy with uni and work... Still don't have the new head... Went to Sydney but didn't have time to pick it up so will have to get it posted or get someone to pick it up for me...

Love the coil-y wires. Lookin' sweet. come do mine next

So today I pulled all the valve springs off and replaced them with 18R springs. I knew before hand that they were shorter/softer, but tried it anyway. Run's a bit smoother now and can actually make it into top gear, but it has less power than a ride-on lawnmower. Definitely need to wait for this new head/valve train next month. Other than that, nothing to update...

I've got a sneaky suspicion that :kiwi: does not mean "peak"......

I've reached an impass! :P I've finally found a new complete re-conditioned head for it, but I'm picking it up from Sydney in July while I'm there picking up the Panelvan. I want to have it out of the shed before the panelvan get's home, but I want to fix her up before I sell her or put her in storage. Maybe the van will have to spend a week or so outside under a tarp :P
-
looks pretty sweet... Tempted to do mine now! :P But still thinking about selling it. My mother will kill me when she gets home from OS in August and finds me with 5 cars :P
-
Hey feral, come for a road trip to SA and gimme some cash for mine and you can have a pair of them! :P http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/65032-72-rt80-corona-on-her-death-bed-or-about-to-be-reborn/

Getting my uncle's '48 chev panel delivery van in July, so I'm keen for my first hotrod build :D But yeah, need shed space for it and the corona is lowest priority at the moment... Don't suppose you want another corona and a road trip to SA to get it? :P

^ seconded. Keen to see some more pics!

Nothing since last update. I've been busy with uni and my triumph project. Definitely nothing happening for the next 4-5 weeks with exams coming up. Took the triumph for a drive to work today. Lays rubber in 4th with ease ;) Lots of fun. Still need a few more safety things before it can go on the track though. Sadly, it looks like I'll be selling the 'rona very soon :( I still don't want to see it go, but between the difficulty of finding engine parts locally and the fact that I'll need the shed space for a new project very soon, I just can't keep it :( :(
-
^ This. So much! There are like, literally none for sale in SA. :( I desperately need engine parts for mine still and there are none to be had...
-
looks great! I might have to try it myself. My clock is broken anyway...
-
That bonnet looks like a lost cause... I take it you've checked all your local wreckers? Might be better off building one from scratch :P
-
No chance of a rolla spring fitting?
-
I've got plenty of kingswood parts in the shed. Will check it out. Cheers :)
-
Yeah, the little 13s make the lack of low very obvious hey? Have you got some spare springs lying around from one of your donor cars? There are pretty much no parts to be found in SA and I want to keep the original springs so that it can go back to stock if needed.
-
Yes, will definitely give it a thorough clean once the engine is fixed. Hopefully getting a new head for it soon :) and yeah, defs need moar low. I've got some 2" blocks somewhere that might fit, and if I can find a spare set of springs for the front I'll chop them. Doesn't seem to be much room/flexibility in the front for lowering though :/
-
Got the fleet out of their sheds for a wash the other day :P From left to right: 1972 HQ Belmont ute, 1972 Triumph 2500 running a leyland 4.4L alloy V8 with a celica 5 speed, 1972 RT80 Corona, 2008 VE Commonwhore (daily), HQ Panelvan chassis (not part of the fleet, just rusting away in the back yard)

Work on the 'rona has slowed down for the last few weeks. On the plus side, my V8 Triumph2500 is now on the road and a whole lotta fun! :D Cleaned up the rocker cover with a couple weeks in a molasses bath. It's a great method for getting rid of rust if you're not in a hurry :) Rattle-can gloss black engine enamel Engine bay is starting to look respectable! :) And great news is that I may have found a re-co head for it that will solve all my problems :D And I got some tyres on the jellybeans. Looks mean ;)
-
Looks great guys! Should be a lot of fun when it's done. Are those jellybeans 6"?
-
Looks great Glen! Wish mine was as shiny as yours. Mark, they should be 114.3. So just about any nissan mags should fit too. I'm hopefully getting tyres on my jellybeans tomorrow :D
