  1. just found this thread. Looks great! I'll keep lurking for updates
  2. hopefully can sell something else though because I love my corona!
  3. entering. Might put a for sale sign in the window though :( desperately need shed space
  4. I'm taking mine down just for a bit of fun. Hopefully she'll make the distance! about 70km each way. Corona is in the shed now, freshly washed and polished and covered in sheets to keep the dust off :) just need the SE badge to complete her. Found one on eBay, but will wait for Glen to reply first
  5. Glen, PM'd you RE. SE badge Mark are you heading to all japan day next month? http://alljapanday.com.au/
  6. yeah, pretty sure that's where mine is leaking. It got pulled around a fair bit while I was pulling the old pipe off. Pretty sure the bolts are rusted tight last time I checked though so may have to pull/drill it apart and put in new bolts and a new gasket
  7. That'd be great, thanks :) Taking the 'rona to all japan day next month and want to have it less crappy-looking. also, the plastic chrome strip around the windscreen, do I remember one of you guys getting some from rare spares or something?
  8. Did a bit of tuning/valve timing tonight. Running great :) still a bit of an exhaust leak at the flange at the front though
  9. hmm.. Definitely the same shape.. Perhaps it was an SE badge then.. Need glen to confirm, I'm sure he's seen the most coronas out of all of us :P
  10. yeah, can't remember what mine was.. don't think it was SE. You can see the shape that it's supposed to be though
  11. Glen, oh keeper of the thousand spare coronas! Would you happen to have a badge for the back end of an RT80? Fits in the cross-shaped mark on the right hand side, can't remember what it was.. an ami badge?
  12. Small update: New wheel cylinders and flexible lines all round. Stops beautifully now. Changed the oil and the ridiculous old paper filter thing. Too many losable parts holding it together for my liking! new rear muffler and tail pipe. Doesn't sound like a tractor anymore! :D And while I had the back end up on ramps, I thought it was a good opportunity to demonstrate what a corona would look like as a drag car with extreme positive rake: And gave her a wash. nice and shiny :) So now I just need to do some fine tuning and find some coin for rego
  13. Great idea for this thread! I'm finally giving my 'rona some love. Got the engine running again and it drives better than it ever did. Still needs a proper tune. Also just did all the brakes with new wheel cylinders and flexible hoses. Mark, my spare is in there still with what looks like factory original goodyear tyre on it AR78SR13 165 R13. So old and dry and rock solid! Not sure if I'd trust it! :P I know this isn't a marketspace thread, but I have a few bits and pieces I don't need if anyone wants them: Mark's spare RT81 grill complete with cracks and missing clips RT81 rear quarter pillar vent things front indicator/parker lenses, original ones from my RT80, fairly faded - I got some NOS ones for mine and not really corona-specific, but I have a set of 4 jellybeans to suit. 13 x 5.5. Two brand new tyres and two with decent tread (50%+?) Photos on my build thread. Would look good on a slammed 'rona
  14. yep, 81 grill curves round the sides and is set further into the guards. Still got it sitting in the shed gathering dust if anyone wants it. Ended up pulling mine off and cleaning it up and painting it. Looks like new(ish)
  15. video didn't post before? Build thread: http://www.rollaclub...44l-leyland-v8/ Proof og hill climb time :P
  16. For sale because I desperately need shed space! 1972 Triumph 2500PI running a 4.4L Leyland V8 out of a P76, with a celica 5 speed. Stock diff was LSD, but very tired, slips a lot! Have been told the engine was re-conditioned about 9 years ago and has had limited use since, but no documentation to prove this The good: -Brand new EBC Yellowstuff brake pads on the front - grippy! -lots of torque! engine runs beautifully -brand new manual choke assembly on the Holley 350CFM means it starts well (almost) every time -new air cleaner (shiny!) -Gearbox is tight, quite enjoyable to drive -4 new tyres 90+% tread -SAAS fixed back bucket seats - comfy! -RPM 3-point harnesses -Fire extinguisher -electric fuel pump in the boot... -fully sick ford V8 badge on the grille - adds 10hp -Push button start and kill switch - racy! -bonnet opens backwards. Need I say more?? The bad: -Some decent sized rust holes in the front sub-frame - needs cleaning up and boxing. The ugly: -it's a Triumph 2500 in baby poo brown.... it invariably wins ugliest car awards at all track days Has been registered, but not engineered with the V8, so can only dodgy/illegal reg. (not recommended) Could make a fun track car for gymkhana or hill climb. Needs some decent semi-slicks or something on the front though for handling. Asking $2000 because that's what it's worth to me. also now on eBay http://www.ebay.com....984.m1555.l2649 Photos!!!! pictures speak a thousand words? Video!!! This is me on my first time up colingrove hillclimb. 43.69 seconds. If it hasn't sold by next hillclimb season I will get an experienced hillclimber to take her for a run up there to see what it can really do!
  17. haha, yeah, I think they all rust there. The water gets in through the aerial hole. Mine was repaired by a previous owner, looks like they did a decent job. My ute also has the same dent in the front of the guard as a result of poor reversing skills! :P
  18. Mark, if you ever need your spare grill back, I have it in the shed here. Doesn't fit on the RT80 :(
  19. PICTURES TIME!!!!! New valve springs came with a bonus head :P I might get the new head hot tanked and put it on, but it's running beautifully as is, so no rush. this nifty valve spring compressor is great! much quicker and easier than big clap-style ones. drove it straight out of the shed and washed it. Runs better than it ever did, apparently setting the valve clearance helped... Also took the grill off and cleaned and painted it. Looks like new! (if you don't look too close!) and painted the metal strip across the front of the bonnet because it was all rusty. looks much better.
  20. UC's are god ugly things. Just gonna clean it up and sell it on, so you can buy mine if you like! :P
  21. In other news, picking up a UC Torana on Friday
  22. FINALLY!!! :wootjump: Got the new head, pulled the valve springs off of it and put them on, turn key.... won't start. Set tappets/valve clearances, turn key... Starts first shot! Starts, runs and drives. So get ready for more updates because I have a couple weeks off of work now :D plans: >Clean engine/engine bay >new brake cylinders >new exhaust >register >???? >profit!
  23. sweet. Got a new head for mine coming in the post, so once I've got her running again I might think about looking for one myself. By then I'll have two experts to consult! :P
  24. scratch that, googled it. 5 speed. Is this the one you bought? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/craigburn-farm/engine-engine-parts-transmission/w50-gearbox-bellhousing-5-speed-manual-good-condition-rare-/1032993391
