  1. Mod is easy to do with 4kc rods adn 3F lifters so id go solid. But be carefl currently in my 5K I got a 3K cam it fit soem wont jsut double check compair the cam your going to regrind with the original. But if your looking for the easy way out go grind you cam toa new hydr profile EASY. Also after that lifter pre-load is easy to do by shimming the rocker posts so stay hydro it is the easiest to do. Cameron
  2. You can use solid lifters on ahydro grind cam but don't. The cams run different lash ramps, ramp rate etc adn in some case you can lose total lift running solid lifters on a hydro cam. But if you run a solid cam on hydro lifters SAY GOOD BY to the lot. I did it once >..LOL Learnt lots. Also can use 3F lifters I did this in my 5K and use stock 4kc push rods and modified rockets as per the 3K TRD book. Then it JUST fits. But if you don't wanna mod shit you MUST get JDM 4K dished piston push rods to fit 3F lifters. I have got a hydro cam reground before (well was a 3K cam I go ground toa hydro setting and put in a5K) Worked great no issues really. BUT be careful. JDM 4K and some 5K usually dished piston ones runa different size rear bearing on the cama dn all and I had a cam punch out the rear welsh plug once. There is a difference also JDM 4/5K usually also got a different timing chain tensioner a cooler one if you ask me loks its self together so you don't need to hold it in to compress it etc. But just watxch the cam you get re ground test fit it first don't wanna waste $90 on a regrind then find it wont fit. Cheers Cameron
  3. Way to many pets to show pics of but got a list and one pic: 2 Kookaburras 3 Galas 5 rainbow lorrikeetss 1 Corella 1 dog 1 des 1 budgie 1magpie 1 homing pigeon 5 cockoteils 4 peach faces etc Also have a few more but can't be bothered typing. Have lots of birds. Fav ones are kookaburras get to feed them mice  Cool to watch. Spelling of eh above list is crap as to. But coolest thing most my birds aren't in cadges. Some are in 4 huge cadges I can walk around in but galas, Corella, rainbows, and pigeon all are tame as and fly tree to tree in my yard and always come back but we have cadges on benches out side they fly into for food and sleep. Annoying when the pigeon follows me in the car to the local shop 1km away. He has never ventured further. Pic below:
  4. Trev you were smashed..LOL And you were to drunk to buy more funny as but..LOL
  5. Hi, If you switch your KE1X to a Bosch internal regulated alternator endless possibilities then exist for a bigger alt on the motor. Also in a KE30 you can do this. If you use search a while back I found a 80amp alt off a nissan 4x4 I think it was fit fine and pretty much plug and play :P Has a big thread with diagrams :D This will help heaps as my setereo for a while with stock KE30 alt would make charge light glow all the time. Now I never see it when driving :jamie: Cheers Cameron
  6. LOVED THE STORM :jamie: Cars under cover check. ! Jagermeiser strong drink check sit back and watch the rain. At my place in Ipswich 180mm in 3 hours :P So cool I'm up high no water near me 1km down road its 4 meters under :D But I drove to Brisbane airport this morning and this is the ONE reason I am not in the know with GPS BECAUSE I HAVE A UBD and get places FASTER  Come onto ICB today stopped due to being flooded so I get off first exit at Kelvin grove and high tail it through back streets 1min late others on ICB didn't show for work. GPS only shows a few meters around you. Referdex/ UBD shows PAGES. So I just glance at it on dash yep yep there and just keep going in direction of where I wanna go. I love my old referdex ..LOL Cameron
  7. Well Ill take back what I said then. Comes as a surprise as wrecker near me some KE55 sitting there not sure what year don't have holes. Interesting some did some didn't weird. Is your KE55 made in Jap land or Aus Xany?
  8. In factory manuals I got also T50 listed as factory fitment to the go fast model. So I always keep my eye out..LOL Cameron
  9. KE30 also have the threaded holes in the floor pan to fit a K-T50 gearbox. KE55 don't have T series holes in them also. But that's about it
  10. Piss easy to install. Ill see if I got my davis Craig setup instructions and ill scan it p might even do a wiki article for the FAQ on this. But the switch in the davis craig kit onlt has 2 terminal on it so do these Jaycar parts so just sub it into where the davis Craig switch would go presto. Cameron
  11. Hi, When I put a thermo in the KE15 I mounted it as a pusher fan with brackets supplied with the fan kit I got. But I tried a Davis Craig thermo switch that went into the water lines with the rubber groved thing etc. But after about 2 months this switch totally failed :y: and there to expensive to replace them so I got the shits and went looking for a better reliable, water proof, simple thermo switch. PRESTO I found one at a meer 0.60cents EACH :) Found at Jay car. There is a small component that mounts to the back of a amp heat sink that switches the fan on the heat sink on and off. So perfect it is designed to do it. temps were variable with the component, water proof, withstand high heat, and wired the same way as a Davis Craig switch had no load as it was on a relay so could be small. The thermo switch I got at Jaycar goes from 50 degreess to about 120 degrees. What I did is glued this switch to the top of the radator as neat as I could and paited it black and honestly you hardly notice it :) looks a part of the radator. But the next step is I was going to make an aluminium plug that goes into the thermostat housing on a K motor in one of the blanked off holes they have with this screwed to it so I get a more accurate temp reading to switch it. As only down side ATM is the radator needs to heat up before it switches. But I chose to set it at about 60 degrees and I run my 5K int eh KE15 and the temps switch when it turns the fan on the car is at optimum opperating temp :( So there proven to work ont eh radator just need to get a lower set switch so it flicks earlier as the radator top tank is cooler while the engine is slightly hotter. Hope it all makes sense. Also this way water wont leak when the groved rubber thing perishes :hmm: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productResults.as...=&priceMax= But there is a link to the thermo switches page. Cheers Cameron
  12. Yeah I got some factory manuals for KE35 coupes and part number books and it doesn't list a K50 at all. But the KE35 Australian coupe has a T50 instead for the early ones then they started making a K50 later on. So they did come stock in early KE35. Cameron
  13. I take it the guy who sold it to you was wreckign a KE35 coupe? Most KE35 coupes were a T50 if they were a 5 speed model
  14. ^^ Felix method will also show up a rooted dizzy/ worn dizzy. The old style non Bosch dizzys flog out bad I have found and to time the KE15 I have I kinda take an average reading..LOL Yet to install my electronic dizzy..LOL Cameron
  15. Hi, You got the process right extend short end space it up. Now you can work it out yes. I drew it up once on paper as triangles and the big ball the stick pivits on was the fulcrum/root point the triangels were drawn from. So I workedout how far along the top one moved with your hand to how far the bottom one moved and then worked out the ratio between each one moving and presto I got kinda a ratio to use. If I find my scribble pad Ill try to scann it up for you. But about 20mm extension is about right for a K box. TRD run a 33% reduction in throw the T3 short shifter kit runs a 55% reduction. But if you make it to short and daily drive the car syncros in it might crap them self. Cheers Cameron
  16. Hey, I drove this car about a month back now and when it was warm the one day I was there we didn't hear the noise :( But I quickly popped the oil cap and the 5K is 100% hydraulic lifters. So prob can't be valve clearance unless the hydros are fooked. also oil was full then. Manifold leak is a possible cause Misled another thing you can try to find a leak I find is start car get a can of WD40 or something and spray it along the head where the manifold bolts up I find it bubbles and indicates a leak pretty good. Also if you need a manifold or anything if yours is leaking PM me I can drop a few off with the ke1X badge I owe you one day. But also a though know how many KM are on the timing chain at all? I have had timing chains wear a front K motor timing cover paper thin as the rubber adjuster disintegrated and it all wore out this made a ticking noise but from start to stop not just when warm. But would be worn. As your 5K might or been built with a single row timing chain when the big cam was installed and they stretch REALLY REALLY easy. But another thing you can check is if the lifters are fooked. If you change a cam and use old lifters it can some times rip the bottom out of them. I have done it before I destroyed my original 5K lifters by running old hydro's with a new big hydro cam this made a ticking noise but also went with lack of power you don't lack power :bash: Cheers Cameron
  17. Toyota range of blowers are positive displacement
  18. Hi, GOT THE PIN OUT THIS ARVO :) I ended up double checking in my Toyota factory book to see what end the splin was on the pin as it comes out that end and then after seeing I was hitting the right end I just got some more penatrating oil onto it and a bigger hammer. Started to move then just fell out :) Very happy now to re-build them. Cheers Cameron
  19. Hi, I have at home a KE1X door hinge and I want to rebush it again. Now I need to use the old pin again so need to remove it with out cutting / drilling etc. How have others gone about doing this? I couldn't get it to move with a punch and hammer the other day so not sure what to try next. But I have penetrating oil on it now to see if that helps. Cheers Cameron
  20. Cool. I like the lay out. I Guess Ill take one to hang at work then count me in. Cameron
  21. Just interested how the pictures will be laid out each month roughly? Will it be one big one of the groups OR will it be like a big group shot of state then around/ under it smaller pics of members cars? Cameron
  22. Towe001 it kinda helps...... But that isnt the full part number. Toyota it seems for most parts used a set of numbers then a dash (-) then another set. Now the first set told you what part it is. EG in my books I have all books apart from KE20 and I have KE1X full range to TE47 part number books all throttle cables start with 78180 - XXXXX That just tells me it is a throttle cable. As KE1X range has 2 cables one for twin one for single carby part numbers are: 78180 - 12901 = Single carb RHD 78180 - 12903 = dual carb. RHD Now the differences are single carb has its clip to carby orientated to a different angle and the plastic bit that locks into the holder on the top of the motor turned 90 degress around more and it is shorter. Where as twin carb version is longer and plastic lock orientated different etc. So in the back of your parts number book it should have a break down in text of all parts. Look up 78180 - XXXX and can you get me the last few digits that is what will tell me exactly what type of cable it is. And I can tell you KE3X to TE47 all have different cables to a KE1X..LOL Coln72 ill await to see what your parts book says about twin carby cable and single cable to see what I can do. Cheers Cameron
  23. Hi, I just need a cable that isn't frayed noticed on the weekend my KE15 cable has 1 strand left before it snaps |blink| And I can get a NOS KE2X throttle cable so I want to know if it will fit as it was kinda pricey. But it looked 100% the same. Just have to change the throttle stop on the floor of the car as twin carby cars got a slightly different throttle stop. But thanks heaps for looking tomorrow will await your reply. Cameron
  24. Hi, Am chasing the part number of a KE20/25 throttle cable for the TWIN carby setup. Or the single carby setup. Need to know if it will fit a KE1X car. Cheers Cameron
  25. TE37 had a strut brace factory so can be done You can buy a KE3x/5x strut brace from T3 they have them on the shelf for bout $200. Cameron
