  1. I use the drain tap works awesome mine. Shove wire up it or something or remove it from the block to clean it out. Also get a tap installed int eh bottom of radator  there handy to have that on my car drains faster and better. Cameron
  2. What motor is it out of or needed?? Is this length the same as dished piston 4K items? Also Crow Cams make custom chrome molly push rods to suit your needs so ring them  I also got some 4K ones shortened once with datto tops weld on at my engine builders place worked awesome on the aplication it was for so can also cut and weld but that pends the abuse they will see. Cameron
  3. How easy did the seat go in mate? Was it straight bolt in or how much were the seat rails changed as there nice as  I approve heaps. Cameron
  4. Hi, Factory twin carbies are nice but as stated HARD to get these days. Yes I own Robs old set tilll going strong but ATM they do need a tune. I rebuilt 2 sets of these now and finding parts HARD. The needle and seat replacment for them now listed is the SAME as the single carbie and the needle and seat in the twin carbies is smaller. Also jets are smaller and the kit I got had larger jets in it so if you get a set can be hard to rebuild but CAN be done again mix match parts and recon old parts. They actually sound really nice to. Also if you are hunting a set of original twin carbies you come across them for $25 to $500 pending condition. I Have paid a lot for them and a lot of them have the water cooling pipes cut off the manifold as it used to foul on extractors. Also I own a few sets of these BUT I only have ever got my hands on 1 yes 1 original exhaust manifold for them there different to normal exhaust manifolds so if you get a set of factory twins best to run extractors as a normal exhaust manifold wont match up. Cheers Cameron
  5. WOW well note to self wont expect any great economy with my setup..LOL Also Stu did you rebuild your 5K before putting EFI on it etc? I am rebuilding the 5K I'm using so ill have to see the difference. Also Your D5 being analogue for the TPS does it jsut sense on or off or the whole range of movements? Just curious as if it is analogue like a 4K-e ECU well there can be huge improvements there to improve economy. Also what compression ratio do you run in your 5K? But all in all NICE setup would rocket in a KE11 and would of been easy to do a loom adn fuel lines as KE11 so easy to get to all wires etc. Also I take it you run a battery in the boot now? Cheers Cameron
  6. What is the new economy of this beast? I am planning my ECU to use atm and looking at going a stock one with possibly a piggy back one on top of it. But if the old D5 does a good job and economy is good ill look into that path more. As you previous economy kinda shocked me even for a boosted K motor..LOL Cameron
  7. Hi, Been doing some reading on Toyota ECU's and found there are a few types of ECU. Analouge and Digital. The old Analogue ones were on the motors like 4K-E and 3t engine etc. It is the L-jetronnic made by Bosch. Now later ones are the TCCS type which are digital eg. 4age. Now I know the 7K-E injections was made later than 4K and the pin out is similar on the 7K one to the 4age one. Can any one tell me for certain if the 7K ECU is of the newer TCCS type? Also does anyone have the 7K-E manual handy I can get emailed? Cheers Cameron
  8. Hi, Been offered a cheap Emanage Greddy Blue piggy back ecu and i know from there web page it is compatible with 4a ECU's 3s ECU's etc and a gazzillion more Jap ECU's But it didnt list 4K or 7K ecu. Now I know the stock 7K or 4K ECU isnt the best BUT can one be piggy backed? As most piggy back computers out there now are universal so was curious to see if one would fit. Also can anyone tell me if the 7K injection is MAP or AFM sensed? Also I can't find the 7K-E wiring manual on here. I had a computer crash lost it and now need it again and can't find it on our forum. Does anyone have a link to it? Cheers Cameron
  9. Car yard will have the VIN etc of those cars so unless there renumbered they wont see the road but they would make quite a haul in selling parts.
  10. Hi, The local vinal and foam shop in ipswich sell seat belt webbing in all different colours. THey said they use a guy to re-make/re web belts. I was going to get my KE15 done in red belts using my factory buckles so the belts are well original as (original belts were red in colour) So re-webbing is probably your best option I hate the look of retractables ina KE1X but seen it done heaps. Cheers Cameron
  11. The thermo stat housing with 2 threaded holes will fit a M16 X 1.5 sensor. I run a 85 degree switch.
  12. My local wrecker wants $20 per thermo switch just letting you know. As He told me he knows what they retail for. Also Hyundi ones work good also and a million more there all similar. Cameron
  13. philbey Sorry I lost this thread yes I have done 2 thermo fan conversions now KE15 and a KE30 so ill try to get ass into gear and write a how to and a few ways it can be done easy for you all tonight Also Tally KE7X came with thermo stock in EFI models and that. But go to super cheap ask for a new sensor  You will be out of pocket $82 if you buy it at my local super crap. So that is an expensive way to go......But I did it this way and Jaycar way. Jaycar weigh heaps cheaper ill add all this to my FAQ doova. Stock point on the K motor factory thermo was 74 degrees C. I use 85 degrees C on my system but on the KE30 and 74 degrees C on the KE15. Cheers Cameron
  14. ^^^ I mentioned 6k in my post as that is all mine ever saw I my self havent pushed hydro lifters futher so I can say for 100% certain they can go or can't go high so I stop there. But I do not doubt they can go much higher Cameron
  15. Answers for original post: No, Not all 5K are hydraulic some were solid lifter stock. These were mostly flat top piston models of the 5K yet some dished piston 5K also got solid lifters stock yes, Covers and dizzy inter changeable being made for the same class of K motor. BUT there not the same I have found different advance weights in 5K dizzy out of vans prob to make more torque down low also rocker covers about a million types exist from EFI ones to no pollution controlled KE1X variants. They will all fit but just need to get one with all the hose connections you need. Yes, Were standard delivery in KM36: 1986 - 1992, Can be found in forklifts also. And I have seen a few KE74 corollas around Aus that were imported they have a 5K stock in that KE7X model. But they were import a few here but not originally planned for release here. Note sure on build dates my self for the 5K motor. Second post of questions: I'm not teddy but I liked my 5K with hydro lifters it saw 6 grand a few times and was so smooth and quiet and I found it awesome to drive with in the KE30. But that 5K is now in my sprinter with 3F solid lifters and 4Kc push rods and 3K rockers and 4K rocker posts and I can rev it really hard now but needs setting louder etc. Depends on what you want. 3K or 4K head on a 5K will drop the CR of the motor. Some cars here get the head swap when the motor swap is made BUT the dished piston cylinder head is far Superior to other flat top piston heads id use a 5K head anyday....matter of fact I do use a 5K head atm on my 5K. I just shaved it a little. Bumped CR from 182PSI to 200PSI made a fair amount o difference. can use unleaded fuel in K motors as all run hardened valve seats even the original 1L K motor. Easy to tell head difference. Small lugs cast under spark plug 1 and 4 will indicate a dished piston head (so most likely 5K as not many dished piston 4K float around here) Next look on the back of it to be a 5K head should have a steel plate bolted tot eh head (Early K motor heads had a welsh plug) Next run your finder along the top of any exhaust port if you feel a bump that sinks in if you get that it is a 3k or 4K head 5K never had the hole sunk there :y: also out side above the exhaust ports on a dished piston head they have less of a flat area machined on an angle. Also of ot os a stock 5K head will have harder valve springs then any other solid lifter K head. So can't really tell if it is a 5K head BUT you can find out from above if it is a JDM head or dished piston head or normal Australian K motor head. Cheers Cameron is there anyway to determine externally (by markings etc ) whether the head on a 5K motor is the original 5K head, or perhaps a 3 or 4K head ? thanks again , pete
  16. Long shot (as tuirbo looks to new) but in the day HKS made a bolt on kit cast manifold and all for a K motor turbo setup. Did you buy one by any chance? Cameron
  17. I looked into it a bit this arvo asked my dad who restores chevs and there are a few house hold chemicals that will do the trick Ill try them and post my results. But I tried a radiator flush once styler and I though it was the biggest waste of cash just didn't do that good a job. Cheers Cameron
  18. Hi, Ok the 3K in my KE30 is getting old and well its starting to over heat on long hot summer day trips. Now the radiator in the car is a bit tired and I gotta spare here I wanna clean up paint, add thermo fan to and get it all going. Then hopefully do a motor swap so I can have reliable slow fun again. But The spare radiator I have has been used a bit before (was not long recoed but and is still in top nick.) But the radiator has a heap just bits of gunk, small pebble looking things, general radator crap in it. I wanna give it the best clean out possible. How should I do this? I tried just pumping water through it no work :hmm: I'm thinking a chemical of some sort. So if you have done it before I am keen to listen to how you did it as I need a fresh radiator soon. Cheers Cameron
  19. Hi, I have seen a KE11 with KE20 struts the FULL strut in it before. Used a KE1X cross member but how you do it is you make like a spacer thing that bolts to the KE1X lower control arm tot eh KE20 strut. Kinda looked like those spacers people put in lowered cars to get the control arm back on an angle. Was like a adapter plate for a carby but on the strut in stead. That was about it. rest bolted in and custom low springs. Ill have to look see if I still have the photo of this. Also swapping the struts left and rights doesn't seem so silly to me....tempting to try..LOL But Scott did you find those pictures of how to make this sway bar bolt up with out hitting anything if you have KE30 or bigger brakes? Also Stu got any more info on the other brand of sway bar you use also can you still get them and do you have pictures of it on your car and will it still fit with KE30 or bigger brakes with or with out hitting the caliper? Cheers Cameron
  20. KE1X cars got glass filter JIP with replaceable element I can't not find a replacement anywhere for mine :yak: But on another not All KE15 are listed as getting a throw out paper type and never got the glass type. Cameron
  21. Ill join teddys club. Yes K motor pumps if they tear will leak into the sump...BUT Toyota put a small hole in a pumps base so if it tears fuel will leak out there. Well this shitty hole gets blocked still in the box pump comes in. I don't think I have ever seen mine unblocked attracts oily shit. So id check the oil. Mine went one day I had like no fuel in the tank (ws on way to servo) and lost fuel in carby and gone oh I'm out car was like 1km from home get home to put mower fuel in then go and noticed hey I can smell fuel and well I looked and found. So be careful don't wanna wash your motor out..LOL Cheers Cameron
  22. Hi, Your water pump above might be assembled wrong.. I say this as I got a Toyota book shows how to reco a pump and the front boss is removable and in different models is pushed on further etc to get belts aligned. So possibly some one did this and put the boss on backwards so it is huge at the front. But highly unlikely. But A KE1X water pump is REALLY short and stubby. So compare it to others if the shaft is shorter than them it is KE1X. Also I have 2 KE1X pullies here 1 has a big hole like that one other has a noraml small hole and I belive there are 2 part numbers for KE1X pumps so you most likely have a KE1X pump. Also metal fan I got one and it will fit a small shaft pump or the large I tried it. But if you want run a thermo and then you don't need to worry about finding a fan. Cheers Cameron P.S. found this pic quickly. KE1X water pump on my 5K has a small shaft. KE15 isnt at my place atm so can't go get a better newer pic but here goes.
  23. If the fan belt rob some kinda of shock adsorbing device to stop it bending?? As for strut brace I don't want to advertise but for $300 to your door off the shelf you can get them for a KE30 he does all KE apart form KE1X :P Look you shall find not bad quality either. Cheers Cameron P.S. Look for the bold.........
  24. Easy.... Use the 4K settings. When I got a cam reground I asked the cam shop same question as I ran shaved head ETC.. They told me grind/profile of the cam determins clearence settings. So for EG. 5K with 3K-B cam run 3K-B settings. 4K with a 2K cam run 2K settings. List goes on. So if it is an original 4K cam use the 4K cam clearances EASY. Cameron
  25. Ill be in the shed tonight Ill see what I can do for you.....stay tunned
