I was in a hurry but forgot my DI box as a place I was meant to play bass so was in a hurry. But after you followed me as far as you did I though you were going to follow me to my place so I also didn't stop. And Red I like the rims. Real magnesium :P well at least VERY high content. pitty I don't have the second set :D Cam -
:P Will they stop me racing with no over flow bottle and a rocker breather that dumps under car as mine is pre ADR?? If not gies me a week and a bit to cobble something together. Cameron

HEY, Yeah I didnt see it was you first following Trev. I though ah an AE86 pppffff..... Then I saw the PPQ's That was when I waved. And as you can tell I do enjoy the drive ;) is such a fun little car not the fastes, doesnt handel the best But sure is fun as to drive and head turner YES. Funny you noticed the people watch this car. I have given up I get looks EVERY where lol Just funny I had an old lady looking ;) But I love driving places with my bass. People watch me get out holding a 1962 fender and then in old car I get looks for ages then..LOL And just to point out YES young femals do also look at this car..LOL And on the sounding HOT.....come for a drive with my straight through exhaust got a shop to make a piece that removes muffler for "track" days..LOL WOW can hear me suburbs away..lol Love it. But oly gets used for fast servo runs and back home and then made legal again. But now for updates: Below is my list to do. Crossed out items done :lolcry: Bold items are new issues to get out. -front suspension upgrade (sway bar, custom springs, KE20 tops new bushes etc) - Rear passenger side shock gone so wheel scrubs out sad.gif Must get new shocks ASAP. - Heater core busted sad.gif have to fix asap winter coming. - oil leak front harmonic balancer seal - badly want to put in an over flow catch tank for radiator (fun not having one but prob a very sensible thing to add does help) - gear stick knob has some glue residue on it want cleaned off makes hand sticky when driving. - drivers door hinge adjusted (I re-pinned but needs adjusting hard to close and not sitting right) - New Bailey channel for windows - throttle cable way to stiff to move gotta play around here (installed a NOS item but jams up bad. etc just needs adjustment) - I stuffed wheel alignment so gotta redo it. - adjust steering stops (can turn left more than I can turn right..LOL) - put rubber stoppers along front guards for bonnet (stop it movign heaps and keep dirt out.) - install "old school spot lights with HID mod" (stock lights crap wose than my KE30 so night driving an issue) - fix 1 small tear in driver's seat (simple seam needs re stiching) - find a KE1X jack. (has a KE3X jack in boot and it will not fit mount so rolls around) - Glove box lid rattles needs rubber tabs to stop vibration and re adjustment. - one break light bulb is half faded needs a new one - fuel cap door lock busted needs new one - passenger 1/4 window needs a lube. - change diff oil. -Fins or wipers so they stay on windscreen at 60mph LOL Faster I go to the higher they go..LOL - rear window venation - New bushes in front leaf spring eyes. - install KE3X thermostat housing and use KE3X heater hose to re hook up heater. - Install after market cam a KE70 4K-C cam is SHIT in a 5K - fix throttle pedal rod jams up wont slide smoothly. - rear parcel shelf coverng starting to come off re glue - new wooden screeen for boot to cover fuel tank needs making - install old school air filters sponge type - enjoy car more - replace rear wheel beaarings - get speedo calibrate (well at least prove how accurate it is) - Straight through pipe made up for exhaust for possible track days and jsut when i wanna have to much noise and fun New things: Due to 5K install a stock K-B air filter box hits bonnet see if I can stop it wires to indicator stick worn out and tonight played up causeing all indicators on. Front left head light off right hand head light on high beam and no dash lights WTF. FIxed on side of the road but must now re do properly CLEAN Get a 1/4 mile time :bash: So as you can see got a few things done. Replaced the diff oil. Put teflon in it to made it a bit quieter but still have this weird "harmonic" that comes in at 70mph and leaves at 80mph and diff is quiet again weird. Not a LOUD horrible sound at that speed just weird. The magnetic chip plug came out pretty clean also :laff: Gear stick know I fixed today cleaned it up so much smoother changing gear now and no sticky crap on it :laff: Rear shocks IN :) I will doa big suspension up date later have new front struts being made (work etc) and there going in so will write up about rear shocks. But I am using TRD AE86 adjustable ones. WOW stiffest setting car DOESNT MOVE at all. But there great huge range of settings (8) and so fast to change awesome. Best thing I have done so far. ANd old shocks ummm lets jsut say thye might of well have not been in there..lol Original Toyota items to..LOL As for heater. Got it fixed found leaking part cut and brased it up with my oxy. And neated it up I sat there with a shaped screw driver pushing out all the bent fins lol fan feels like a twister in the car now SO much better. But I can recomend to EVERYONE clean out your fan box in a KE1X. Mine had a jungle worth of leaves and leaf matter and plants in it totally blocking air path over heater and were backing up into the fan and it was mulching the leafs. CRAZY didnt take a photo but WOW a must do as KE1X seem to SUCK in leafs there..LOL Also cleaned all the fan blades. So much dirt on it over 40 years. Pic below of heater before install again, one part of core I totally cut out I packed with correct foam again so air will go through heater in car still and not around it so still does work people. But still have to run rubber hoses to the heater now and got my self a ball valve to hide under dash as heater tap. After market ones look bad and KE1X one stuck open :( So hidden ball valve will work :) But hoping to get a 1/4 mile time this week coming wed night at willowbank people. That is if I get ahead of uni work..lol Cheers Cameron -
FOUND IT  In page 3 the photos from underneath show tour T3 strut tops are re-drilled :hmm: Answers my questions :hmm: Cheers
-
MMM I like  ANd you know how I have been chasing you about strut tops. I noticed you have the stock metal covers bolted up. Are they re-drilled? As been talking to T3 and the smallest size stud pattern (centre of stud to centre of stud) is 98mm KE1X are 91.8mm exactly. Using the engineering drawings I have of the KE1X so If yours are not re-drilled struts they must be re-drilled camber plates. Just not sure kinda lost as I am keen to get a set in my car. Cheers Cameron

Trev I have some similar data you posted there. BUT In a few sales brochures I have for the KE15 NON came with auto that was not an option on the sports model..LOL So the C I feel is something different in the sprinters case. As KE10/11 can have -b or -Bc or -BFS and well the codes jsut keep streeming froma book I have all meanign different stuff like steering, trans, engine, interior, one code also designates different front struts ina late model KE11 so I have always been interested in this. So KE15 are bit of a odd lot for codes. As there are 3 codes after the model name and well they were never auto???? Cam

Hi, I don't have australian sales figures but I do have numbers :jamie: One day I stumbled upon a scan of an OLD OLD OLD Australia book about identifying old Toyotas using there vin and what range the VIN was. Some pages were missing. One being quantity so can only tell you VIN details  here is a thread where I list KE10/11 numbers: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=32356 Now for KE15/17. KE15 wasthe first sprinter. First onewas made in 1967/68 as they were a late production started at the end of 1967. The first VIN number of the first KE15 is: KE15-000001 This number continued till late 1969/70 which is when they went from KE15 to a KE17. The last KE15 VIN is: KE15-150001 That sime time the then went to a KE17. There first vin is: KE17-000001 I don't have a KE17 end VIN as they roll straight into KE20 around that time so book doesnt list an ending. Now there are a few model KE15 made and KE17. Toyota books list them as: KE15 KE15/C KE15/S KE17 are listed as: KE17 KE17/C KE17/S NOW in my book as it is writen for Australian market says in poor english. KE15/S stands for Toyota corolla Sprinter RHD, SL. SO I dare say KE15/C is left hand drive and jsut plain KE15 is the base model code for the non SL and SE model. Also in the suppliment in my EPC for KE1X.KE2X and Publica it says in 1974 Toyota went from using SL ont he top sports moedl to SR. Note this year is around the time of KE3X and SR coupes. So some nice ot know not need ot know info.LOL Hope I was of some help. Cheers Cameron

Hi, Chassing info for KE/KP/early small Toyota front strut top hat stud pattern. I know a KE1X has 53mm centre of stud to centre of shock asorber (taken from Toyota engineering drawings for the KE1X) Now I am wanting to know the other models and what they are? Also would be good is centre of stud to centre of stud to if possible? A KE1X centre of stud to centre of stud is 91.7mm Cheers Cameron

Genuine Toyota 3k Duel Carby Setup
camerondownunder88 replied to comtoy's topic in Automotive Discussion
Sounds like a winning swap meet. Also not to step on Taz toes but early KE1X possibly KE2X had a different Hot box stud pattern and different size hot box. My late model twin setup has a late shape hot box and will fit any KE3X,55,70 hot box. So see if it will match a manifold before getting extractors. Also the water cooling casting on these manifolds that runs under cyclinder 4 usually fouls on extractors so have to watch for this. And below is a pic of an early KE15 exhaust manifold with different hot box. Cheers Cameron -
Wow out doing me on progress..LOL As for the rear muffler bracket. My local exhaust shop (not a crap guy either) he actually used a rubber strap I questioned it a bit but stiff rubber and so far so good even when I change the bolt going through it all the time to fit my straight through pipe. Works liek acharm. So if you have issues with rear mount just make a rubber strap. Cheers Cameron

Genuine Toyota 3k Duel Carby Setup
camerondownunder88 replied to comtoy's topic in Automotive Discussion
Hi, Good price for setup. Fairly complete. Linkages are the rarest part on these. Great score :) What swap meet was this one you also speak of? As for your set you have late-model one out of a KE3X or KE50 coupe. You can tell as your carby has hot idle devices, fuel inlet for carbies is a metal line that screws in. Early carbies had a rubber hose barb adn a last chance fine filter that is replaceable. Also the manifold at the rear has a hose line for brakes. Early manifolds had a plug in here. Your setup is the same as one of my late setups sourced from a KE50. Very easy to fit to all KE models but. One thing your set has going for them is you have the better throttle cable setup. Much better than early one. Also I can tell you know you will have trouble sourcing needle and seats for the twin setups. They are slightly different to single carbies and the rebuild kits don't come with the right ones. Well all the kits I have used so treat the needle and seats well. Cheers Cameron -

Felix: I don't miss my KE30 when I get in this. But KE30 is good for getting me to work and a tad easier to drive..LOL well less driving needed. As for strut tops. With a stock diameter spring wont get too much variance. But every degree counts. I even just want a fraction more. As I don't want to wear my tires out to fast. But I know atm my tires wear just slightly more as you saw on the outside so even if I get one degree should make for more even wear. KEI069: Yes I plan to use the whiteline sway bar. But I am going to consult them to see if I can have it squashed in a inch or so each side to avoid it hitting my calipers. I belive the sway bar was designed for a drum break front as they don't foul if you have drums. But if they wont adjust it for my self I'll be just winding out my steering stops. KE15 turns so bloody well anyway I shouldnt miss a few degrees. philbey: I have all ready been pricing up fitting air con back on. Local shop said some old pumps are surprisingly good when overhauled. Some don't need a single part. They said worst case about $300 to fix then a few $$ for rubber lines. $50 for a new tank for get the name has the valve in it..LOL so for about $500 I should get it in the car. But I am liking the look of the new electric aircon pumps very efficient for small cars now on the market. This would drain less engine power so I'm also looking into this path. As for my trip. I had little time to plan. Still had a good time would have loved to see the hills but :P Oh well next time..LOL Cheers Cameron -

^^^ Thats an original jack THANKS...Felix don't worry about the pic..LOL Yeah PM'ed Homers KE17 and no reply. THink Ill get the vernier out and measure it up and email T3. As planning suspension setup atm. Custom front springs KE2X spring mounts, want adjustable strut tops, sway bar etc. Also a KE15 is awesome to drive and ill admit I like the feel of un-boosted brakes BUT I find if I don't drive car for a week the little bit of dust and dirt that blows onto rotors the first 10min of the drive car is hard to pull up. Once warm and clean I find I get better braking and feel what is happening a lot more..Also reminds me another addition to list: - Wind off rear brakes Fitted KE70 front brakes and under braking will lock rears first. As there non auto adjustable ones so have to adjust your self. Is awesome for setting brake bias. Girl Friend likes driving in it just hates the rattles..LOL But thats what makes the car I feel..LOL Cam -

Well from the top... Trev: Actually funny you mention the old owner. a week after having it on the road I looked up his address again and could only see his wife listed :( THough He had passed. But went over anyway to show her possible him and both were still there :P And he loved it they were both nearly in tears and kept telling me I had done a great job was awesome to see it back on the road with the twin carbies etc all back on. They asked lots of questions since he raced it a bit like is it fast win races in town etc..LOL Had to laugh. SO they throughly liked me taking it back to them was there for about 2 hours while they crawled over it I took them for a spin etc think I made their year. Was funny at first I rocked up they couldn't see the car parked on the drive way and they though I was selling stuff took a bit to get them to come look soon as they saw the car they remembered :no2: parrot: Yes been slow..LOL, In a way id rather it kinda never finished..LOL I just wanna do a few comfort things like stopping some rattles etc as I drive girl friend gets annoyed after a while in it..LOL Also should add to list have to: - install my original KE1X aircon system - Install LSD - Rebuild a good 5K motor. Need a new 5K should have posted it but when I put the motor together I must have buggered the rear seal so leaks oil and out the front harmonic balancer it leaks to so kinda REALLY annoying but hey that's what you get when it sat for a while so will have to write-up a big post with my plans etc for the engine. Felix: Yes jack pics a must :( And WAY better to drive than KE30. You actually have to drive it..LOL I let a mate drive it the other week who had never driven a car with such a light weight short wheel base and pre 1980..lol He couldn't drive it. had no clue about some basic driving skills you need to make a car like this handle so car has tought me a lot (spun out 2 times on road within first week of having it ont he road) so you do learn to respect it and every time I get in this car to drive it is AWESOME. Nothing can top it really when it comes to motoring I belive. Oh on a side note. KE1X strut top stud pattern. Do KP61 strut tops fit or are there any T3 strut tops that bolt in fit?? Who knows Parrot?? Cheers Cameron -

AND IT IS ON THE ROAD..... If you have all read carefully some threads on here you will notice that the car has been on the road now about 4 months..LOL I'm slow to update..LOL ALl I can say is these cars are SO SO SO SO much fun to drive. Everywhere I go people look ask questions and love riding in the car is AWESOME. And like normal after having acar sit after driving it for a bit a list of small things to fix grows. Below is a list of what I have compiled so far. Most things are small rattles or comfort or jsut need done for safety etc. -front suspension upgrade (sway bar, custom springs, KE20 tops new bushes etc) - Rear passenger side shock gone so wheel scrubs out :no2: Must get new shocks ASAP. - Heater core busted :( have to fix asap winter coming. - oil leak front harmonic balancer seal - badly want to put in an over flow catch tank for radiator (fun not having one but prob a very sensible thing to add does help) - gear stick knob has some glue residue on it want cleaned off makes hand sticky when driving. - drivers door hinge adjusted (I re-pinned but needs adjusting hard to close and not sitting right) - New Bailey channel for windows - throttle cable way to stiff to move gotta play around here (installed a NOS item but jams up bad. etc jsut needs adjustment) - I stuffed wheel alignment so gotta redo it. - Install after market cam a KE70 4K-C cam is SHIT ina 5K - fix throttle pedal rod jams up wont slide smoothly. - rear parcel shelf coverng starting to come off re glue - new wooden screeen for boot to cover fuel tank needs making - install old school air filters sponge type - enjoy car more - replace rear wheel beaarings - get speedo calibrate (well at least prove how accurate it is) - Straight through pipe made up for exhaust forpossible track days and jsut when i wanna have to much noise and fun As you can see not to much to do. So watch this space as things happen. Below is a Pic just before I put the plates on it the day I got rego :P -
Felix, MDF might of gone as the fuel over flow vent line is high up under there. Might of disintergrated and then got fuel on MDF. I find if I fill my KE15 full I drive down the road and lose 5L of fuel as it sloshes up over the over flow line on to the road. So Have to fix this..LOL Wasting fuel. Cameron

NO NO NO NO Twin carbie manis were also on later KE's with a brake booster hole in runner 4. Not needed to drill holes on all 4 runners. But id post it up in the for sale section for a swap... A KE1X twin mani with no holes would look great back on a KE1X with no holes. Up to you I guess But I would try to swap it for a later manifold for twins so brake booster etc all reay there for you. Cheers Cameron
