  2. I think you would be much better off putting a vitara motor in ( I'm assuming you have a sierra or an old LJ??? ). Been done before by lots of people ( me included ) and it works. Given vitara auto's are reasonably common you could just buy a wreck and go through the transplant process. Trying to match up a toyota twin cam to a ??? brand box, getting stall settings correct, dealing with carbie issues , mounts, clearance priblems etc etc etc YUKKKK Another option I saw once was a fuel injected 16 valve swift GTi motor ( or head, I'm not too sure ) modded to go in a sierra, it was peaky but hell it sounded good and was very reliable.
  3. HMMM, in the past I would have said go to S.g. Leslie & Sons19 Mologa Rd, Heidelberg West, VIC 3081 p: 03 94592859 As they did stuff like this for me when i was using Koni's in Mazda RX2's and RX3's but I just rang and they said they get their parts fromTopPerformance as well. Looks like might have to change brands after all. A shame, they are a nice insert. Dale
  4. I think leave the strip exactly where it is. It suits the vehicle ( and protects against those who like to door your car in the car park ) Given you've fitted the flares, the granny look is well and truly gone so if you were looking to respray it, making filling the holes a minor issue thenm I'd debadge it Just my 2c worth. Cheers Dale
  5. Looks damn good. I've had a set of flares sitting in my garage for about 18 months now with the idea of fitting them when I do the rebuild. My 20 is brittish Racing Green and I had assumed I'd just have to paint them that colour and try to match the paint ( if I don't respray ). matt black might be the way to go for me too. I can see a test fit coming up this weekend :y:
  6. Hey, That looks like my old injection, was the rocker cover painted red when you got it ???? If so, good to see it going to a new home and being used. Turbo eh, I wish. my 5k is NA and budget means it will remain so :y: Dale
  7. hmmm, clark rubber. yep should have thought of them. theres one down the road, will try them tomorrow. ta dale
  8. Did a test fit on my new flares on the weekend. Good old ebay, gotta love it. does anyone know wher i can get the piping that goes between the flares and the body though ????? Cheers, Dale
  9. I Like....... showed the wife, told her I already have half the parts to do this in the garage. Now in trouble :)
  10. yeah, colour is brittish racing green. I like it too. Going to respray it the same colour again. Cheers, Dale
  11. This is my ke20. It used to be my wifes car until she got hit by a drunk driver about 14 years ago and said she wanted somehting a bit more substantial. I was driving a v8 commodore at the time so she got that. And her little mustard ke20 was mine. Pulled it apart and did a full body rebuild, replaced the suspension ( kyb gas front and Tokico rear ) and brakes, and converted from a 3k and toyoglide to a mild rebuilt jap import 5k ( full balance, mild cam, HD valve springs with new valves ) and an electronic dizzy. It runs a sprinter twin outlet ex manifold running into a 1 7/8 system with a single hotdog muffler. She runs mazda rx4 rims with falken z tyres ( 185 front and 205 rear ) I also have a 4ke manifold etc that i intended on installing one day but life distracted me. interior just copped new carpet, a sports wheel, kenwood head unit, amp and new speakers, and a couple of cans of black vinyl spray. She was driven until 1996 when I bought myself a Liberty RS turbo wagon ( and was then broke for a few years while paying it off ). The Corolla then just went out for a weekly spin around the block to keep her running. The Suby's now long gone and the Corolla is going to come out to play again. Been buying bit's for another rebuild ( cancer has come back in bottom of front guards and in bottom of boot lid ). So far have twin aisan carbs and manifold ( not sure if to go that way or still do the 4ke manifold injection path), a brand new old stock dash top, she needs a timing chain so i have one waiting, An underdash air con kit ( my uncle owns a car air business in QLD and gave it to me last time i was up there along with moulds for some Levin flares ) and a pair of SAAS seats and harnesses. What I want for it are a full cage, bigger front brakes ( and maybe power assist ), and a set of extractors and side exhaust. The intention is she will just be a fun club car, no pretenses about being fast or anything, just fun. Cheers.
