Looks in good condition.

WOW, Did'nt expect that. Great job. Well done.

looks like it might be a battle of the Rolla Rally Cars next year. Took a few photos with the bonnet and mud flaps fitted.

Did you bend those up or is it extrusion that you can buy off the shelf? Looks a lot neater and quicker than cutting and shutting a standard lca.

Not much happening at the moment Stephen. The head is waiting for some more machine work and then the cams have to be re shimmed. The car is all but finished. Just the sump guard mounts to make after its dynoed and a foot brace for the nav. Hirstglen has been canceled this weekend due to the weather so Iam not missing anything. Before we stopped the last dyno, we pulled a few bedding in runs with a very basic tune and soft timing to 5000rpm and it was showing 125bhp with a very straight torque curve. It looks good to make close to 200bhp. Its going to be a slow few weeks waiting on other people, but Ill take some photos of something on the weekend. Hows the new 70 coming along?

I will have to make a custom air intake/filter system in the future, but for now the socks will have to do. The dyno tuner will tune it with the socks and then do a run with them off to see just how restrictive they are. Some people have said they will stop more dust than a K@N which I believe as my old engines always seemed to have a fine dust in the intake with the K@N filter. The flat panel filter is the best for performance if its paper or oiled foam.

Thanks Stuart. It went to the dyno on Friday,"had the video cam ready" but the first development bug has shown its head already. After some mid range tuning, we dropped the running in oil before the full power runs and noticed a little to much metal in the oil. Pulled off the tappet cover and found that the cams are so big they are just wiping the edges of the buckets and slowly grinding away. Got the head back off for some more CNC work to bore out the bucket slides for over size buckets. The joy of race motors. "How to make a small fortune in motorsport?" "Start with a big fortune"

Wiring is done. Had some help to get the Ke30 wiper motor connected to the RA60 Celica washer/wiper switch. That stuff will fry your mind. Finished of the boot with a tool box. Air filters are here this week and then off for the dyno tune.

Thanks Chris, These vac gauges work really well, and they can be balanced with out having to remove the filters. Everything is on track for its first run on the 16th. See you at Hirstglen. Got the Terraphone fitted and wired today between other jobs.

Not as silly as it sounds. I had a spare roof for the Celica for the exact same reason and it worked. The 30 is back and running with the ecu wired in. Even with the biggest cams in the world fitted, it still idles like a road car. Just some final finishing off to do and then back for the dyno.
-
That looks so cool. What are you doing with it?

The Corolla is over at the dyno tuner getting the Haltech wired in this week. These new ECUs can do so much these days. I don't under stand half of it, so its being fitted by someone I trust.

I Know, this car building passion is a curse. Just finish one project and another is already forming in our heads. Got the car back from the exhaust shop with a new 2.5inch system. Still doing the wiring. Its giving me a head ache.

Hey Snot. I thought the ke30s came out with these options at some time some where in the world. ;) Thanks Stuart. I hope your stay in hospital was not to serious and your making a full recovery. The Celica was sold early this year Justin. It was bought by an English chap who took it back to the UK and is going to be fully restored and then run and displayed at the Goodwood Festival. Ive got the molds ready with another body kit for sale and another body lined up to build another TA64 after the Corolla is finished. Plans are to make this one even more accurate to the orginal, but for show, not to race.

Hey Tyler. The first proper rally is Benarkin on the 4th October. The 2nd is Kenilworth on 8th November. Both events are known as car breakers, but that seem to be the norm for Qld now. After competing down south on those great roads for a couple of years, I don't know why any one bothers up here. Be good to put a face to the name.
-
Thanks Snot, and your welcome. ;) Wont be at the WRC this year Rob. Plan is 2 small shake down events at our Hirstglen track in August and September. Then 2 proper rallies October and November here in QLD. Need to iron out any bugs before investing the dollars to go south for the Rally Master next year. No mater how well we build these cars, there is always some problem to sort out that only shows its head during an event. Rear window is in.
