  1. Your welcome to check it out anytime Rob. How is the Lancer driving?
  2. Repairs to the boot seal.
  3. Well done to you and your farther seb. The car looks great. Might catch you at a rally sometime if you decide to venture north for a amsag event. My 2nd rally car was a ra23 and I learned a lot from it.
  4. Diff mount is in and replaced the small rusted wheel well with a new one big enough to take the 15" gravel rally wheel and tyre.
  5. Custom race engine mounts with Landcruiser suspension bushes. 50% lighter than standard and 100% tear apart proof.
  6. Ha Ha, can't fix that with a welder. Maybe a 30 hour day may help. Mine are gone now,but I know what your saying.
  7. Both sills are on and welded. Ill finish off the plates for the stand mounts when it gets flipped over for final touches and paint.
  8. Thanks snot35. I try to do at least 1 thing every day. Even on really busy days at work, I might pick up a new nut and bolt or bracket that Ill need later in the build. Its just 1 little thing. But suddenly at the end of the month you find your 30 jobs ahead on the build. I found it progresses the build even on days that you don't feel like doing any work. Which happens a lot.
  9. New sill in place with stand mounts.
  10. Left sill on the mend.
  11. The bender is a Speedwerks product as is the tube notcher. Any one can buy them, but not cheap unless you plan to do a lot of work. The bender will produce a almost mandel bend. 100% better than an exhaust bend. The tube notcher cuts a perfect joint to weld. Ive built a few cages now, but working out the bend and cut angles to get a nice even close fitting cage still gives me a huge headache.
  12. Just had a big weekend on the pipe bender. Got all the bendy bits finished.
  13. Thanks for the support Carlos. Iam glad you are finding this stuff interesting. Steering column is in and all connected up and working. Also the roll cage steel turned up. Its CDS, cold drawn seamless from Performance Metals. They now import the stuff from Germany.
  14. A Celica steering column attached to the Corolla mount.
  15. Started on the alloy cover and firewall plates.
  16. A few more ke30 parts to go that I wont be useing.
  17. Made a mount plate for the Tilton pedal box. The holes in the plate take some weight out and allow it to be welded to the body rail under the floor to reduce flex under hard pedal presure.
  18. Next job is engine mounts, This can be a pain to get right as nothing looks as bad as an motor thats not in straight.
  19. Steering rack is in.
  20. Not as far back as I would like. One of the main regs for the 2wd rallymaster is no mods to the firewall. It will be as far back in the engine bay as I can get it, but its a big motor so the centre of the strut tops will cross somewhere between number 2 and 3 cylinder. Another subtle change ive made is to increase the wheel base by 20mm at the rear at ride height. Because trailing A arm suspension moves in the oppisite way to leaf springs, I can move the subframe back and still keep full travel in the wheel arch. It wont look odd because the flare position will hide the offset and keep the wheel looking right in the arch.
  21. Just made sure the tank still fits before final welding.
  22. Thanks Ian. Sport sedan for the dirt= Group B Rally. I guess thats what Amsag allows with out the space frame construction. Got it flipped up the right way again.
  23. Not sure what its called, but sealed up the vent holes under the dash.
  24. Thanks Mick, I really am enjoying this build more than others over the past years. Not being held back by too many rules and regs helps I think. Front suspension is a combo of Corolla and Celica.
  25. One carbon fibre and kevlar sump guard. Thanks to Scottmotorsportz.
