  7. ... What can I say? Cars... You hope for the best but they end up biting you in the ass... lol Yesterday... I just put the spring on the gearbox and adjusted the accelerator cable. It was getting lodged in the hose thingy that goes from the rocker cover to the carby. So I moved the hose back and put a hose clamp on it. All better. Now the pedal doesn’t get stuck and the engine won’t rev by itself. Did a few other things as well, but I forgot lol. Today.... Got to my uncles place at about 11:30.Got to work right away. Well there really wasn’t much left to do actually. I just jacked the car up and tried to put the exhaust on as best as I could. Then it was time. Time to grab the battery and crank it over. I said lets do it. So we grabbed it and hooked it up! We chucked in some water to fill the radiator up and double checked everything. 1. 2... And it started!!!!! Big Grin on my face you could imagine!!! :lolcry: VIDEO: But!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The engine was leaking!!! Leaking water!!!!!! I was like "Oh No!!!" There was water coming out of the exhaust flange. 1. I didn’t hook it up tightly as it was hard to get in there with a ratchet, even with an extension. My uncle is a Panel Beater so he doesn’t have much experience with engines. I guess he is learning at about the same pace as I am. My dad knows a fair bit though, but he’s too busy. So I asked my uncle, "That can’t be good! What’s wrong?" He said, "Tell me and we will both know!" He didn’t have a clue either. But we both suspected it to be a blown head gasket after we checked the dip-stick. The water was mixing with the oil!!! arghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just what I need!!! The timing is way out as well!!! The engine would not idle!!! My other uncle had to keep his foot on the accelerator. It idled with the choke way out but still. So went up to our mates place and told him about it and he said yea blown head gasket. Peace of cake to change. My uncle first said to me to get it done by a workshop. But I disagreed as I don’t want to spend heaps of money on this engine as: 1. Its crap 2. Its temporary 3. They are so easy to work on. 4. People on rollaclub rebuild them themselves!!! In their backyards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So that’s were I stand now.... At least it’s coming together any way... I suspected that it had a blown head gasket as the car the engine came from was overheating wildly when she dropped it off to our place... Had no coolant in it what so ever. So I hope the rings are still ok... Anyways guys, going to get a head gasket and some sealant this week so should be ok. If anyone n Adelaide can lend a hand please give me a buzz on 0421758655 VIDEO: Cheers Tally
  8. Thanks guys!!! Hopefully this weekend should be it! The Nardi arrived yesterday :)

  10. fixing up my KE25 and always running into dramas ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  11. Update: Well today I woke up nice and early eager to run to my uncle’s place (around the corner) and start work on my beloved Corolla... Got there, took all the parts and boxes out the boot and put them in the back seat. I then took the towbar off. Much better now. Wondered what the hell that old man towed in this thing. As this was a country car I supposed he used it a lot. Well I then got stuck into the engine. I took the air filter off and adjusted the carby, choke and accelerator cable. Not that hard considering I am still learning. Next I looked at the fuel line that leads from the fuel pump to the carby. It’s cracked!!! Damn another hold-up! Luckily I still had the old engine!!! So me and my uncle carefully took it off and replaced the old one on my car. Fitted it with a few minor modifications. After that I went to put the radiator in. Nope doesn’t fit!!! WHY!!! KE20 FRONT END IS THE SAME AS KE25 TILL THE FIREWALL!!! ARGHHHHHHHH!!! The bolts didn’t line up but there was only a small gap so it isn’t to hard of a job. Then I shifted my focus to the starter motor. I couldn’t get it in as the exhaust manifold was in the way, so I got down and dirty and undid it underneath the car. Half way through my uncle comes over and puts it in in a jiffy. Bloody hell what a waste of time!!! I proceed to do up the exhaust while I helped my uncle bolt in the starter. After that we went to connect the wiring to the alternator. Just my luck, the plug doesn’t fit!!! Luckily we still have the old one off the old engine. We have a ruff idea that it’s ok as it cranked over when we were trying to get the old engine running. Went to put it in.... Damn different bracket! Again, old engine here we come! So thats were I stand right about now. So its really close to the special moment of truth..... I just hope its going to be all good, had enough dramas already. Cheers Tally
  12. Gearbox all fixed!!! Fitted it all up and bolted it up! Hopefully be running tomorow! Went to connect the clutch cable, all good until I found out that I had misplaced the spring that attaches to the gearbox. But luckily I still have the one off the KE20 gearbox so its all good! can't wait! Gonna be slow as but it will be worth it in the end! Cheers Tally
  13. Thats killer man. Quick question, how would you stick the flares and front splitter/lip on? Pop rivet them? I'm going to get some but I don't want to do anything to my fenders and rear quarters.
  14. Hahaha to quick for me heeheh. I was planning on getting one of those. I knew it was in the box lol! What a Guess heheh. Gonna look wicked once its done  What look you going for? Jap-spec or American style? Cheers Mic Tally
  15. Hey man thanks for that. Yea can't wait to get it running sweet. Hopefully this weekend I will get it running. After that ill need a new exaust and get a full tune up. Gonna get the brakes looked at as well. Hey scott Yea I was into the KE20s before and never thought much of the 25s. Then when I bought this one I realised just what I had got. But I do love my 20s Yea I was going to do the full granny spec with the whitewalls and venetians etc but I got over it so I'm going for the JDM look. Flares, front lip and maybe boot lip may come a bit later on, maybe once I start to prepare it to get painted after ive mucked around with it for a bit. See what happens Cheers guys Tally
  16. Yea hopefully be there too. Wish my car was ready... meh always next year. So will see you guys there! Cheers Tally

  20. Just took some pics! I think the gearbox isnt lined up right!
  21. Hey guys Nothing much has been done until today. Chucked in the new engine...... Just my luck. The engine doesnt fit the gearbox! The engine was from a early 72 KE20 and my car is a 74 KE25. The gearbox bolt spaces don't line up with the ke20 engine. I still have the ke20 gearbox though. Link to my thread in General mechanical: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=16056 EDIT: Problem solved... mis-aligned the gearbox.... Hopefully should be running by next weekend :) Cheers Tally
  22. Hey My KE25 project has come to a halt today. The engine I got out of an early 72 KE20. I chucked the engine in my KE25 today to find out that it does not fit the KE25 4speed. The bolt spaces are different and don't line up at all. I still have the KE20 gearbox. Would that be the soloution? Would I need to change anything else? eg tailshaft? Link to my thread: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=14164 Cheers Tally
  23. Hey Cam Id like that center console. I hear you can mod it to fit a manual. Like this one: Also Id like the metal trim between the grill and front bar on the late model one on pg 4. Cheers Tally
  24. Any chance of someone buying these KE25s and parting them out? Would be interested in a few things...
