You are certainly keen ;) good luck :clover: -
Thanks for the help and advice guys. After much Googling and youtubing I decided to get the Meguiars Paint Restoration kit and in no uncertain terms i am MASSIVELY impressed. So far I have only done the roof (damn work getting in the way of me playing with my toys), but it looks amazing. The paint work has that nice deep glossy shine to it again and feels amazingly smooth. Granted I am still learning to use the products to their full potential so it is not perfect and bringing it back from it's current state is a lot tougher than keeping it in such condition. So I would think another 1-2 full cycles of the system and it is going to be even better. But it has stemed off me having to get a respray for a fair while longer. I tried to get a pic but did not have much luck of the roof, I will be finishing the rest of the car tomorrow as i have the day off and will take the standard split pic of the before and after (maybe a quick video as well. But anyone wanting a way to bring some life back into a weathered paint scheme, $60 from supercheap and a bit of elbow grease and you've got yourself a winner.

Was a fun night for sure :) Once my KE55 is a bit more up to par I will get out there for sure.

I am wanting to bring some life back into the old paintwork of my KE55, at the moment it's red paint work is well weathered and lost pretty much all sheen. Has anyone used the Meguiars Restoration kit to restore some life to old paint work. I will eventually get the entire body resprayed but for the moment I am just looking at getting her a little more presentable. The body does have 30yrs worth of stone chips and the odd rust spot but nothing really massive and would look so much better if the paint got a bit of TLC. Worth the money on Meguiars, or does anyone have any other ideas? I have always just used kitten cut and polish and wax, but have seen/heard good things about the meguiars system and supercheap has it for around $50 so not a bank breaker, just don't want to waste my time if something will do better

Yeah I know, I will be driving her down but not going to enter it at all. So she will be sitting off to the side somewhere ;) -

Well as the song goes, it's a small world after all. Scanning through this thread and what do I see but my new baby from when the previous owner joined rolla club. Gday everyone, names Nathan or Warehouse, what ever suits you (not because I look like one, it's the studio name for my photography biz). This is actually my second rolla, my very first car (way back when) was a 76 2 door coupe in stock purple which i am now kicking myself for ever selling. My new rolla baby is a 5/81 KE55 with a stock 4k with 4 speed box. The only mods the previous owner has done is to install the aftermarket front seats and a different air filter, I have since put a smaller steering wheel on as it was near impossible to turn the old bus wheel when sitting in the these seats. Other than that she is all stock, and yes I do still have the original seats and steering wheel. Shes 2 years older that the above pics and a little bit more worse for wear in terms of paint work, but she still goes strong and is in great condition. Looking forward to meeting everyone at some point on a cruise or even the forth coming ToyotaFest 2012 on the 30th. Here's a few updated pics of the 81 KE55

Ke55 Brake Light And Starting Issues Help
Warehouse_XIII replied to Warehouse_XIII's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Thanks mate, yeah I spent Saturday morning tracing wires everywhere. The only noise I could hear was from the starter relay under the dash, not even a click from the starter motor solinoid that you would expect if it was a flat battery. Long story short I got NFI what I did to fix it, I am guessing it was a bad earth or similar connection somewhere that jolted lose when the car lurched forward. It ended up getting fixed after I took the gauge cluster out to check the wire colours in the back to trace them from the light, I took the plug out cleaned it with air put it back in, put the cluster back in and for some reason just thought I'd try to kick it over and she worked. I have tried finding where the lose connection is but can't see a thing. Guess I'll just have to wait to see if it happens again and then worry about it then. -
Hey guys, I was in the process of flushing the radiator out today and when i topped the coolant up and went to kick it over to run it through the system I was in a bit of a hurry and just reached in through the window to kick it over forgetting it was in gear. So of course car lurched forward and I cursed myself for being an idiot. No damage done however the car now wont start, I thought maybe compression lock so loosened all plugs and turned it over by hand put them back and tried again. Still no good. Now when I turn the key to start, the brake warning light comes on (it never has before) and the car wont even turn over. The odd thing is the switch on the brake master cylinder isnt even connected, it hasnt been since i got the car. The brakes aren't locked cause I can push the car and everything else seems fine. I checked the relays and switch them around in case something had blown but still same problem. Anyone got any ideas??? FYI breaks are the PRB system, plenty of fluid etc.

Hey Guys and Gals, my name's Nathan and I am a Corolla Addict, long time reader first time poster (so be gentle) ;) This is my second corolla as my very first car was a 76 2 door coupe painted in factory purple (kicking myself for ever getting rid of her :( ) Due to budget cut backs at work I have been forced to find another car and thought it was the perfect time (read: perfect excuse to give the minister of finance) to get myself another little beauty and after much hunting I stumbled upon this gem one night while sitting in traffic. She is going to be used as a daily driver fairly soon, when I lose the company car, but will also be used as a project car to teach my 3 boys what a real car is like (none of this modern electric garbage lol). I do have plans to eventually use it as an occasional track car as well but for the moment I am just going to be fixing the few minor blemishes and doing a little work to the existing 4k to make it a little more fun to drive. I am planning on starting a build thread on it as well to document the ongoing (albeit slow) repair and build up of all the work I am going to be doing to it. Car: May 1981 KE55 Corolla Sedan 4 door Motor & Driveline: 1300cc 4k with 4 speed manual box Suspension & Brakes: Suspension has been lowered (by previous owner) at pedders by about an inch all round, brakes are still stock front discs, rear drums Wheels & Tyres: All stock 13' rims and rubber Interior: Stock, black door panels with brown carpet and front set of after market seats (installed by previous owner). Back seats are original and I do have the original fronts to put back in as well. Body: Red, so she goes faster :) . Other than the expected odd rust spot, she is really clean and tidy, no accidents, frame is straight all original panels. The only issues with the body are a rust spot at the lower passenger side of the rear window near the corner of the boot and at the base of the front drivers side quarter panel where it meets the drivers door, other than that, there is a small bubble starting on the bonnet and just the expected bit of stone chips etc. Let me know what you think :)
