  1. Thanks for the replies boys i might give mammi motors a call tomorrow and have a talk with them cause the way the car is running at the moment is just giving me the shits. Hopefully they can sort it out as cheap as possible. cheers nathan. just out of curiosity(spelling) did there dyno give out a KW reading aswell
  2. Well if i do decide to go stick with the dellorto's and get tehm tuned on a dyno, you guys recommend anywhere to go and what sort of price i'd be up for i've heard of this place called mammi motors. I'm in melbourne by the way. cheers nathan
  3. Ok after some thinking i have come up with another idea. that is i have su 1.75" su's sitting at home brand new never used and th albility to purchase an su manifold just wondering whether this would be a better alternative then playing around with getting the dellorto's rebuilt and tuned. any feedback would be much appricated cheers nathan
  4. Hey i've got a 4k with a set of sidedraught 40mm dellorto's on it. the motor just seems to keep poping when cold and hot and just runs like a bag of shit. i was just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this. i was thinking of rebuilding the carbies or piss them off and just get a 4 barrel holly. Also the setup of got is basically a rebuilt 4k 300degree cam extractors 2 1/4 inch exhaust the twins when they run right somtimes, elec ignition port and polished head. With all of this do peoples corolla's fell pretty decent i can't rip a doughnut in the dry yet my stock as a rock 1.6 liter gemini can do it easy both have locked diffs and the the corolla just can't do it. Could it be the carbies that are causing the lack of power my old man believes that they are not getting enough fuel. any feedback would be greatly appriciated cheers nathan.
  5. Besides a decomp plate how could i lower compression without changing pistons or could i just go a decomp plate and see how it go's the decop plate i can fabricate myself so it is not an issue to get the plate cheers nathan The motor setup is a 4K block with a port and polished head with a 290 degree cam and extractors and a 2 1/4 exhuast with the twin 40mm delorto's
  6. Well i've decided to buy the blower and bolt it onto the twin delortos using a decomp plate but now i have another problem any one know what thickness the decomp plate should be to lower the commpression of the motor i believe that i the compression to be able 7.1 or so Cheers nathan
  7. Sorry about that forgot to note what corolla i had its a Ke55 coupe a space will not be an issue for an air box as i can work with the dimentions that i have to make a correctly sized air box Cheers nathan
  8. Basically i want to bolt a sc14 blower on to the side of the block but my main concern is that i want to know if the carbs i have would be able to suit this application without having to run a suck through setup. i have a pair of twin DLHA 40mm delorto's on a reline manifold. I know that things will eventually brake if the install is not perfect but to start with i just want to run the blower with a decomp plate and go from there.
  9. Hey been talking to a few mechanics and been getting different answers just wondering if anyone can clarify. If i am running twin 40mm sidedraft delorto's and i wanted to bolt on a blower could i just make an alloy air box over the two carbs and run the blower striaght into that or would i have to put the carbs infront of the blower. If been told that if i bolt of the blower and put an air box striaght over the varbs the car wont run properly Just wondering on peoples thoughts Cheers nathan PS i know i make need a decomp plate which i can get made up so thats not an issue
  10. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on running twin 40mm delortos compared to a 350 holly on a reco 4k. I've got a port and polished head, 290 degree cam extractors and a 2 1/4 inch exhuast Just wondering which i would get more power out of Cheers nathan and yes i know this might be a bit of a noob question but couldn't find anything specifically on this topic when doing a search
  11. I had bothered to check the FAQ but those tension settings were for 3K motors and just wanted to get the figures for the 4K as i wasn't sure if these were the same figure. Before accusing people so not searching read what you yourself have actually searched Nathan
  12. Just wondering if anyone had any info on what tension all the main bolts in the motor should be set to such as big end and main and others Cheers nathan Thanks in advance
  13. Yeah i got those but they still seam to leak passed them i think i need to use a different sealant
  14. Hey i was just wondering what sort of sealent people use when putting the alloy cups around the sparkplugs and other gaskets on the motor as i am having trouble sealing the sparkplug cups. I've used a black silicon sealant which was a waste of time and i've now tried aviation for-a-gasket No. 3 goo no hardening. Just wondering if there is something on the market that the toyota factory used it was a grey colour Cheers nathan thanks in advance
