  1. Ekranoplans are awesome, they look like they're from another planet, or at least the future The Candid's fuselage just looks like something that was half-way out when the phone rang.
  2. The Vodka Burner is rolling........we have Smirnoff Damn I forgot how UGLY Candid's were. Scary thing is that the IL76 is supposed to be rated for short/unprepared runways.
  3. I guarantee 99.9999% that the bulb is stuffed. Replace it (they only cost 50 cents or whatever), and all should be sorted. I had the exact same problem with my 102 - when headlights were off, both brake lights came on normally. When the headlights were on, the tail-lights came on normally. But when I braked with the headlights on, the brake light wouldn't come on and the tail-light would go out. Turned out the elements in the bulb had stretched and shorted to each other, so you could have current running through either one of them fine, but if you had it through both then it would short out.
  4. The really stupid thing is that people don't realise that Hotmail automatically know your account is active simply by you logging in.....Why the hell would they need you to circulate a chain-mail for them to know you're active? Some people just don't think
  5. Also note that the news article on the BBC website (if it's the same one, they usually link to the same article) is several years old now.
  6. Except they don't exactly fit without major firewall mods. I've seen one in an RA28 (which has a significantly bigger engine bay) and even then it was a tight fit
  7. Well, long time without an update, but thats mainly because not much has been going on. Since last post, some rust has returned (hasn't been addressed), some new rust has appeared, engine runs hot and cold (noise/performance-wise, not temperature), exhaust hangers have snapped off the muffler, and there have been some unpleasant noises coming from the front wheels. So, things that have happened. Firstly, finally got around to installing my nice shiny un-cracked and un-scratched dash-pad, replacing the old crappy grey/purple dash-mad and severely split/cracked dash-pad. This was not too much of a bother, as I could see on the spare dash where the nuts and screws were that I had to undo. However, the screw on the inside of the pad just above the passenger air vent is an absolute bitch to get to, especially with my gargantuan hands and the stumpy screwdriver that I had (it was the only one that could fit length-wise). Looks heaps better now, and it seems to creak less than the old one which is also a good thing. Secondly, the clunking noise that appeared to come from the front wheels turned into a grinding/scraping noise under brakes, so I decided to see if the pads needed changing (probably should have investigated this earlier, but didn't have the time to do it myself or the money to send it to a mechanic. Here's what I found. And in comparison to the replacement VN Commodore pads I bought (which fit and are slightly thicker) In short, ouch. Considering the state of the rear drums (probably not much more meat left on them, which kinda explains why the handbrake is so crap), it wouldn't have been long before I had next to no braking ability whatsoever. So I shelled out $60 for some new Bendix pads off the back of a VN, $15 for a pad spreader/piston compressor, and set about changing my first ever set of brake pads. 4 hours later, I had the pads done on the front left wheel. 15 minutes after that, the front right wheel was done......it's amazing how much a little experience can help. Took it for a test spin, and no more scraping noises, and a bit firmer brake pedal too.
  8. His special intercooler piping with only 2 bends amazes me......how he can make it reach his arse in the cabin with only 2 bends is absolutely amazing.
  9. Been around for years. Been proven as false too, many times. Firstly, if you don't by fuel from a service station on one day, you'll just buy it another day. The demand is still there. You're still driving just as much. Much better to have a "Don't drive at all" day instead. Secondly, it won't affect the oil companies one bit. They've already sold the petrol to the service stations, so they've got their money. Thirdly, service stations only get refilled from trucks roughly once a week. One particular day without any sales won't affect this, it'll just mean more petrol being sold the days before and after the boycott. Here's some light reading on the topic, and how it has been around for years (with no success because it doesn't work)
  10. I swapped out the dashpad in the KE55 on the weekend, was helped by the fact that I could just look at the spare and see where all the nuts were. Still, that didn't help in getting the screw out from BEHIND the left passenger air vent, which requires a screwdriver the length of your average finger (including the handle), and hands to match. I had the screwdriver (I call it Stumpy), but my hands are the size of hams. Took a while, fortunately didn't draw any blood but took a lot of time and sweat. Looks sweat now (no cracks in the pad whatsover, so no need for the dash mat anymore)
  11. There's a KE20 in one scene in Escape From New York.
  12. That model is a Spirit, not a Sprint
  13. Except for the E5x series, which is essentially a facelifted/upgraded E3x series. In that case; KE50 = liftback KE55 = sedan, coupe AND stationwagon Thats in Oz at least, pretty sure overseas markets had different numbering schemes
  14. Hehe, I live in Henry St.......just in a different state.
  15. Mmmmmmmmm, Coopers Sparkling......
  16. Original Twinkys (AE82 Twincam) and AE92 SXs were only available in Red and White. The GTi (and later SXs, I think) came with charcoal grey too, and possibly other colours
  17. The SX got the 4AGE as well as the GTi. The GTi is basically a lower-spec SX created after the mid-life upgrade of the AE92
  18. Nope, confident. I don't claim to be the best driver in the world, but I do my best to be aware and follow all the road rules (except for some mild speeding, but never dangerous or excessive). I do seem to be the only person in Newcastle who actually indicates correctly for roundabouts though, which shits me no end. Fortunately my parents were smart enough to realise that they had bad habits and didn't pass them on to me
  19. Funnily enough, my mother taught me to drive, not my dad. He never once sat in the front passenger seat whilst I was on my L's. I can confidently state now though that I am a better driver (skill-wise) than both my parents
  20. First thing I thought was that he was transporting it and it had rolled off the back of the truck into the car....that would have been ironic, and humiliating too.
  21. One problem with recommending an AE112 owner to go to Twincam..............Poggy. Nice cars, but he's a bit of a tool :)
  22. Same shape, but it is illegal to put KE3x doors on KE55, due to the lack of side intrusion bars. Obviously the doors are different shape between coupe and sedan though, regardless of 3x or 55.
  23. Most obvious thing is the KE55 has a 4K, whilst the KE35 only has a 3K. Apart from that, interior trim is a little different, with a flat-face dash rather than the curved face in the KE35, centre console around the gearshift (but not around the handbrake), and side intrusion bars in the doors. There may be others though, my experience is mostly with the sedans not the coupes
  24. I played the original years ago, gave up pretty quickly though because it couldn't hold my interest.
  25. It means the heat-stove pipework is completely different
