He doesn't live here, he was just up from Sydney for the night for a mate's party and needed somewhere to crash Although it turned out he didn't end up crashing, and I even went to the trouble of making his bed for him... :)

I've used that metaphor before, except with McDonalds instead of Dominos. Except my point was that they had to use the set, camera-angles, Stig etc from the UK show because it's effectively a franchise, and would be like walking into a Maccas which didn't have the golden arches and didn't have Big Macs or Happy Meals on the menu if they weren't included

The "omg Guess What Happened Today" Thread
Hiro Protagonist replied to JiP's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Wouldn't have thought Logan would finish anything higher than last though... Maybe Wooden Spoon City would be more appropriate? -
Oh I can imagine it would be.....just not from 1st person

Considering most of the cars he builds follow the exact same trend (keep driveline completely stock/crap, but dump it on it's guts and put the biggest rims you can find on it, preferably chrome), I'd say he's the one lacking imagination. You can build the best looking KE70/AE71 in the world, but if it looks just like the one you built last time then I don't see the point. Imagination would be doing something different. And yes I saw it in the flesh on Sunday, does look a bit better in person (although the lighting was shit), but still not my cup of tea, regardless of the quality of the work or the amount of time and money invested.

Interesting to see a KE30 with the late KE55 headlights and grille, normally people do the swap in the opposite direction (I prefer the square lights though, especially on the 55s)

If it's full of bogans, Chrome City might be more appropriate, they can't afford silver. -
It was MY laptop......

WGMG is my brother ringing me up at 11 last night and wanting me to go pick him up from a party. Eventually he started bribing me, and got to $50 (it's only 5 minutes down the road, would be less than $10 for a taxi), but I'd had a few drinks earlier, am still on my Ps, and had to get up 7 hours later and go to work......so I just hung up on him. Probably half an hour later (either he got a lift from someone else, or a taxi), he comes home, makes a nice amount of noise doing so, rings me AFTER HE GETS IN THE HOUSE to say that he was home (no shit, Sherlock), waking me up _again_, then proceeds to stay up ALL NIGHT watching stuff on his laptop in the living room without headphones, and making a fair bit of noise doing so. So because of this, both me and my girlfriend get probably no more than half an hour's sleep at any one time. Initially, he was going to get me to drop him off at the station when I left for work, but he left probably an hour before I got up....allowing me to have at least one hour of good uninterrupted sleep. I then get up to find that he's gone through 2 of my beers in the fridge without asking, left a mess and big puddle of water in the bathroom (after taking his _second_ shower of the night), a post-it note on the bathroom mirror saying just Good Morning, a post-it note in the 6-pack in the fridge saying "I'm in your fridge, drinking your booze", and a Notepad message on my laptop saying "Sorry for the inconvenience". I can see turning 27 last month hasn't matured him at all.....

I laughed at the fact that they knew it was going to be a load-hauling challenge, yet gerbil-face still chose the XR6, which has identical power to the standard Ute yet can only take half the payload (1-tonne for the standard vs 500 for the XR6). And the standard Ute with 1-tonne package would be cheaper than the XR6 too, so it fails on all logic. I noticed that too, thought for a second they might have confused numbers with the Mustang Super Snake (as reviewed in the TGA magazine vs the W427), but it still only had 700-odd HP, so no idea where Cock-head is pulling his numbers from.....probably fairy-land. TGUK would have the budget to buy the Smart car, they would then use no money at all apart from gas-axe rental and let Clarkson do the rest, and end up with nothing resembling a proper hearse (remember his stretch limo Panda that broke in half?), but a lot funnier than just chucking a coffin through the back window.

You obviously missed the line where he said it was photoshopped And to the OP, are you going to make a new thread every time you change something on your car or have an idea? This is at least your third thread in the rides forum for the exact same car, might be an idea just sticking to the ONE thread, much less annoying that way.

I'll check the yellow book tonight, pretty sure it covers pretty much all of the K-engines before 1978 (including 4KC)

Roof Rack Recommendations?
Hiro Protagonist replied to bOfMarick's topic in ZZExxx/ZRExxx Corolla Discussion
Generally there's a rubber pad that goes between the rack and the roof, so it doesn't scratch. We've had Thule removeable racks on the SXV10 for years now, and not one mark. And having the door seals squashed won't mean anything, they're squashed when the door is closed anyway. That's what seals do. -
Much harder, since they are a longer engine. The 1G _just_ scrapes in as it is, a JZ will almost certainly require firewall modifications. If you're so set on a 6, better idea would be a Camry V6 (1MZ or 3VZ), much smaller and heaps better for weight distribution, but still with plenty of power-making capability

I hear it's a mating ritual over there. -
A 1G can be fitted into a KE3x/5x engine bay (it's tight-as though), the question is why you're going with the GZE as opposed to the much better GTE?

Copied from my Toymods post: I think it had ups and downs. Warren Brown (despite his driving abilities) is a natural presenter, he's probably the funniest of the lot because of his relaxed attitude, and in a way he's the most used to the TV camera too. Charlie Cox sounded like he was going to burst a blood vessel doing his Melbourne Cup commentary on the Power Laps, even though you saw more of the interior and Stig's helmet than the track. Steve Pizzati is obviously the Hammond of the lot, but even so I think his gerbil-face and school-kid enthusiasm is going to wear a bit thin after......ohh, the first five minutes of the show. And to whoever asked "Who _are_ the presenters", it's been covered before, and they all have motorsport or motoring connections. Warren Brown is (apart from a cartoonist) a motoring columnist for the Telegraph, a collector of vintage cars, and drove a 1907 Itala from Beijing to Paris in a recreation of a vintage car rally, on TV. Pizzati is an advanced driving instructor and Porsche Australia factory race driver, and Cock-head is a MotoGP commentator and former BTCC and touring car driver + commentator. And it's been said by many people, but the real comparisons need to be made to the first season of the British Top Gear. Camera-work was shoddy on the track for them too, the set was spartan, and they had a useless presenter too who got ditched after the first season. And SIARPC/SIABSC is going to get better the more and more people come on, as are the Power Laps (as long as camera-work improves), because a single time is just boring and no comparison (although apparently the Stig was about 10-15 seconds faster than Colosimo). Damn the track is narrow in some parts though, completely different to the UK one.

Will be there, but not entering any cars. Neither are in particularly show-worthy condition at the moment, and don't have time to get them ready either.
-
It should be in the same place as the 102 one, therefore it's easiest if you take the airbox/intake and charcoal canister off, and also try working through the front left wheel-well (obviously take the wheel off before you do this.

How Much Alloy/metal Can I Get From Ke30?
Hiro Protagonist replied to march-oren's topic in Automotive Discussion
Do you mean 80mph or 80km/h? Biiiiig difference. Not being able to hit 80mph (130km/h) shouldn't be high on your priority list. -
I've heard both
-
My best bet is that the extra runner is for something like EGR or air-induction, either way it's not something you'd hook up in a worked motor. Blocking it off inside the manifold would be better too, otherwise it'll screw with flow something shocking, and resonate to boot.

What I want to know is where it all went......that'd be a hell of a lot of brake dust, surely it would have been noticed
-
Don't think it's really possible with the KE55 dash, as the clock is integral to the cluster. KE30 clusters had the clock seperate
