Thats a late model head, you can tell because it has the same cam covers as the 7AFE. They also have the injectors mounted in the manifold. Early 4AFEs look similar to 4AFCs, and has the injectors in the head.

I do, I love the stuff. Captain Morgans + vanilla coke = the awesomeness.

Have a look in my member's ride thread, should be a picture there of how mine fits. Basically it's just a hole drilled in the pipe, you pull the sensor and the rubber bung out of the airbox and plug the whole thing in, that way it's sealed and sits nice and tight. Right at the limit of the wiring length though

You mean the air-temp sensor.....7AFEs don't have air-flow meters, they're MAP :jamie:

They're on TV too....

It's just a media spotlight. The main problem is that it'll be hard to move away because we don't have another major airline in Australia anymore. Maybe there needs to be a major electrical fault on a Virgin Blue plane or something that causes it to plummet from the sky just to get the attention away from QANTAS.

Agreed, that ad shits me to tears. Especially when the voice over goes "Imagine all that washing, hanging, folding, ironing going to waste" WELL IT WOULDN'T BE A BLOODY WASTE IF SHE ACTUALLY LOOKED AT WHAT SHE WAS DOING. Any decent mother would notice a stain on a kid's clothes as she's putting it into the washing machine, and adjust to suit. Then she'd check it again when removing it to make sure the stain was gone. Hell, even I do that, and I wash my clothes myself once every two blue moons.

Few months old now, but thought I could input. No, a silvertop 20v 4AGE is not standard in an ADM AE102 (they are for a JDM AE101 Levin, however). And just because it says 1.8L on the doors, doesn't mean that's the actual capacity of the engine currently fitted. The 1.8L stickers were standard for the RV Seca/hatches, and I doubt the previous owner would go to the bother of removing them or changing them to reflect the 1.6L 20v But it is possible that it's a 7AGE 20v conversion, but not likely. Easiest way would be to look at the block, see if it's a 3- or 7-rib, and also the exhaust for the extra section required to account for the increased deck height of the 7A. And no 20Vs have "so much torque". Unless they have a 7A block or snail/blower hanging off the side. They have to rev like buggery to make their power

If there's only one black cover, then it's an external igniter dizzy.

4wd Corolla Tranny Model Code?!
Hiro Protagonist replied to gravebox's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
Double-checked, the AE95 gearbox is indeed an E57F, main reason I got confused is that the S50 is listed with the other gearboxes (C40, C50, C52), but the 4WD stuff is in a separate section at the end of the manual.....so the S50 is most likely for the diesel model -

And in Australia, we only got C-series gearboxes in Corollas, Echo/Yaris/Starlets and AW11s. *hang on, forgot the ZZT23x Celica (we only got the 2ZZGE variant) and ZZW3x MR2 (1ZZFE with sequential only). Australia missed out on lots of the low-spec Jap models for Camrys/Celicas etc. -

4wd Corolla Tranny Model Code?!
Hiro Protagonist replied to gravebox's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
After a bit of digging through Tercel4WD.com (they have the 1985 AL25 service manual there), the gearbox for a 4WD AL25 is a Z54F, or A55F for the auto. Never heard of either of them before, and that's probably because for both the FWD and 4WD models, the engine is longitudinally mounted yet the gearbox normally drives the front wheels only. Stupid set-up in my opinion, but then again the AL25s were always regarded as being weird over here. -
4wd Corolla Tranny Model Code?!

I'll check tonight, for some reason the S51 is sticking in my head....maybe it's an E51. V6 Camrys have the E-series gearboxes, as do turbo SW20 MR2s and most likely GT4 Celicas. The only Celicas and MR2s that would have come with a C-series box would be the ones powered by A-series engines (4AFE, 4AGE, 7AFE) Do you mean the AL25 wagon? If so, it's a Tercel, not a Corolla, which can cause you no end of confusion. The AE95 Corolla wagon is full-time 4WD, but with a lockable centre diff. The AL25 is part-time 4WD, with it being FWD unless the transfer case is locked (no centre diff). AL25 AE95 -

R15x is a longitudinal-style gearbox, like for a Hilux or turbo JZA71 Supra. The AE95 is a transverse engine/gearbox From what I can remember, it's a S51 (according to the Ellerys/Gregories/Haynes/whatever service manual) -
I'd be up for a Central Coast/Newcastle chapter, but I doubt there's enough of us to make it work, plus I don't think there are any other sub-state regional sections.

Spec order for KE55 (which I think was the same as KE30) was L - SE - CS - XX, from worst to best. I had an SE and it had vinyl seats, 4-speed and no rear speakers.

Must just be up north, both me and my g/f are with Optus (I'm prepaid, she's cap plan) and coverage is excellent, and the network is very rarely clogged.

My g/f thought her rats were both female, until one day they started growing balls. The one surviving rat is now about 15cm long plus tail, and his balls are probably the size of cherries. Very definitely male. Called them Basil (after Basil the rat from Fawlty Towers, unfortunately dead now) and Boris. Fortunately we didn't name them straight away. -
Do you have a 4AFC, 4AFE, 4AGE or 7AFE engine? Not much point getting extractors on a 4AGE, the factory ones are pretty good, but the others will benefit from a good exhaust system.

Exactly. Cut springs are one of the illegal things that are illegal for a very good reason (not just a revenue raiser or hippy green thingy). Cut springs alter the suspension dynamics of the car outside of the boundaries for which it was designed. Chopped springs often become non-captive, which means going over a big bump can actually force the spring out of the seats, thus transfering the full shock load of the wheels through to the body (and vice versa), not to mention completely screwing up your dynamics and quite likely spearing you off the road into a tree.

Ae92. Change From 4age To The 4agze.
Hiro Protagonist replied to MJOLNIR Fyre's topic in Engine Conversions
Does Not Compute. Either it's not a sedan, or it's not the stock engine. 4AGEs only ever came out in the AE82 Twincam hatches and Secas, and the AE92/93 SX hatches and Secas. -
Ke55 Carburettor Replacement
Hiro Protagonist replied to Jimpoole's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
I've got a Nikki lying around that I was going to put in the KE55 before I sold it, never got around to it though.....missing a couple of screws which hold the air-horn down, but nothing that shouldn't be hard to fix. Looks like I'm local too  You can have it for the price of.....ohh, nothing I guess. -

My guess he was one of those people who likes to stand by the side of the road and point hair-dryers/cordless drills at passing cars in the attempt to fool them into thinking he's a cop with a radar gun. Probably drunk at the time too.
