  1. The fact that I have 2 hours of sunlight after I get home from work means that I don't care if I'm a conformist :yak:
  2. 7-rib bigport with a mild cat-back, compared to a 7A with extractors, full exhaust and CAI. The thing to realise though is that the 7A has now done over 300,000km on a completely un-opened engine, no idea on the history of the bigport though (it's probably at least the 3rd engine the 82 has had, none of them done by me) And there's more potential in the 82 if you look at the dyno graph and the AFRs. What surprised me is how well it went considering how rough it feels to drive at times. note the shithouse AFRs and abrupt TVIS changeover and the 102 for comparison
  3. Ahh, Queenslanders and their inability to accept daylight savings
  4. What Brightened my day yesterday.. Toymods dyno day, AE102 gets 71.7kw (slightly up from last time), AE82 (which I didn't want to beat the 102 but I wanted it to get close) gets 70.8kw.....less than a kw between them. That made me very happy. The sun made me very red though...
  5. B110 (ie 1200) was made from 70-76, so the age difference isn't that great, kinda covers late KE1x+KE20+early KE30.
  6. You wanna know how I got these scars? Why so serious?
  7. But if the price is high, people drive less to try and save money. Driving long distances is less attractive with high fuel prices when you can catch the train for instance. But if petrol drops, it makes more financial sense to drive more often (ie people just revert to their old ways). Once you get above a certain price, petrol becomes prohibitively expensive (ie some people can't afford the increased price, so they don't buy it at all and find alternative means). Once the price drops below that prohibitive level, those customers return. So you lose money by dropping price, but make money by increasing patronage. In short, if you double the price of petrol, you won't double your profit, and if you halve the price, you won't halve your profit. As an example, my g/f's mother would barely drive her car at all (Magna station wagon) when petrol was around $1.70. Now that it's under a dollar for half the week, she drives a lot more. Overall she might be spending the same amount of money on travel in general no matter what the petrol price, but if petrol is cheaper she'll spend a greater proportion on petrol as opposed to bus, train etc)
  8. Because petrol is cheaper, more people are buying more of it? Classic "reduce-the-price-and-more-people-will-buy-it" business practice.
  9. First one is an oldie and not a goodie (because it's so old). If you fall for it, you really need to sharpen your perception skills. If you want to know how they do it, say the name of all the cards shown instead of just one. You'll get it instantly.
  10. The funny thing is, I've had equivalent amounts of other liquors (including other bourbons), and have been fine. Cougar must just be really rank.
  11. You = fail. 3TG hybrids have been done many times with success. There's a fair bit of work in them though (converting the 3T block to run OHC instead of pushrods), but there's lots of info out there for that.
  12. I went through 3/4 of a bottle of Cougar in about 2 hours, threw up for the rest of the night, have never touched the stuff since.....this would be 3 or 4 years ago now, and the bottle is still sitting there 1/4 full, not even going to touch it to throw it out. Can barely look at it without feeling sick.
  13. Either that or he's just really good from practice..... Get him to try at the start of the day (hell, shout him a dollar to do it if you have to) and see if he wins then.
  14. Not sure bout KE20s, but pretty sure KE10s didn't have a vacuum booster for the brakes.....then again, the car was so light that you don't really need them (and you've got drums all-round)
  15. Did the K-motor even have EGR in Aus? Can't remember ever seeing it on my KE55. Note that a lot of people get EGR confused with the heat-stove for the intake manifold (the "triangle"), EGR actually puts exhaust gases back into the intake whereas the heat-stove just uses the gas to heat the manifold, thus allowing for better atomisation etc (ie emissions, ie less power :y:)
  16. Shocking crash where people get badly, horribly hurt or even killed Shocking crash where people live yet someone 10cm away from them dies Shocking crash where initially everything seems fine until you see a leg sticking out from under car Disparaging comments about the size of your penis. Gee, I wonder which message will get through better.......
  17. And a lot of 3K max figures you see running around will be for a 3K-B (as those were the biggest numbers), which has the unfair advantage of twin carbies.
  18. Loony, the guy who owned it beforehand, lived in the Brisvegas/GC hinterland area. I followed the buildup of this car on Twincam.org
  19. WPMO - people on forums like TOCAU (ie owner forums, not enthusiast forums) who have no clue about their car, can't read a user manual (let alone a service manual) and struggle with even the most basic task like changing oil, replacing the air filter, or even locating fuses. And then there are the ones who buy a BRAND NEW car like an Aurion or Corolla and then complain that aftermarket companies aren't producing enough parts for them. For crying out loud, the car you just bought is barely off the design-room floor (not even mid-life) and you're expecting there to be a tonne of available aftermarket parts that most people probably don't want, and thus the demand isn't there. They're not Commodores or Skylines, where an aftermarket company will basically design enough parts to make a whole new car within weeks of the model being released, so just live with it and enjoy the feeling of a brand new car before you look to ruin it. If you want to by a car with lots of mod options, buy the previous generation. Still almost new (most will barely be out of their warranty period), but there is 3 or 4 long years that aftermarket companies have had to develop products, and the same amount of time for a market to actually develop Ohh, and people who make a new thread every time they add something to their car, or there's news about it or something. Just make a frigging member's ride thread, and then add everything that's new into there. It makes it easier for people to see the progression of the car, as well as reducing clutter on the boards and making you look less like a n00b/idiot.
  20. A 14" +8 MA61 wheel will fit perfectly under the guards, as long as you run 195 wide rubber, any more and you'll probably have scrubbing issues. 7" is probably about the widest wheel you can go, and +8-10 would be a good range for that width. Also, the style keeps with the style of the car, they're Toyota and the same age so they fit in perfectly, and can be had relatively cheap ($3-400 for a set with tyres) See my KE55 thread in my sig for some photos of what they look like.
  21. From mates in the know, because it's a FWD engine (and thus the wheels are off the ground) the torque required to break the nut using breaker bar is greater than the torque required to turn the motor backwards. And using a breaker bar against the ground and cranking the engine is inviting disaster.
  22. As a habit I always make sure I reply before the quotes, at least as far as PMs are concerned. If the other party follows the same pattern, then you have essentially a conversation record within every message, but the most recent and thus usually most important stuff is at the top, and therefore you don't have to scroll through crap to get to it.
  23. My 11-year old AE102 is about 50km off 300,000 :y:. So I'm in the timing-belt-change situation too, might as well do water pump and all other belts at the same time. Still dicing up whether to do it myself or get a mechanic for it, haven't got air-compressor + rattle gun so the crank bolt would be a problem...
  24. It'll be a C50, but the shifter should be compatible for all 3 boxes. What is more specific is the vehicle body that it's in, as a AE9x shfiter base is different to an AE10x shifter base (9x is metal, 10x is plastic)
  25. Exactly. Generally the regional channels were created seperately, and then taken over by the big city channels and turned into affiliate stations. Here we have NBN (linked to Channel 9), Prime (7) and Southern Cross Ten (10, duh). SC10 used to be Northern Rivers, good ol' NRTV.
