i bet that topic got ya all excited.
but alas i have been given a 69 KE10 rally spec. and by rally spec it has bonnet pins holding down the bonnet skelton as the skin has seperated from rust ( that was a suprise first time i opened it) it has flat rally tyres with chunky tread but cracked up sidewalls. it has a stripped interior except for seats and a steering wheel which apears to be rally spec of its day. it has a bolt in alloy (i think) roll cage.it is full of old stuff. parts, tools, old glass oil bottles with the big metal spout. some acient type writer ( i hope this is worth somthing) no keys so can't get into the boot yet. most of the hanging panels have rust but the firewall apears to be rust free on first inspections and the pillars are relatively rust free. there is a decent rust hole above one of the gutters. it has a cracked up dash pad and all the chrome is in poor condition. it is upto the the wheels in weeds and with the flat tyres so i havnt had a good look under her yet as its sitting in my bosses yard. it has what i think is a 3k in it which will need work to make it run. the paint is very faded as it is red. i found some old old old rego papers in the glove box and it was last regod in july 87 but i don't know if this will help me if i where to rego it as i have no recipt or proof of ownership.
now that you all have a mental picture of her i ask what to do.
easy option, get a running 4k from the wreakers get it running and paddock bash/rally the shit out of it round my old mans farm. (I'm keen on this)
slightly less easy option. do the bare minimum to get it regod again. basic resto really.
hard option. FULL rebuild/resto respray overhaul everything.
as this a free car and i would like to direct my finances to another project i think the last option is out. but will i get hung by the balls and have rusty nissan parts thrown at me if i thrash, and more than likly destroy a potenial classic KE10 and should i try and sell it to somewho is more keen than me?
