Townace Gearbox In A Ke20 Has Anyone Done It?
ollii replied to ke20 king's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Arnt we all driftstar rally drivers secretly? -
At the moment I have a 4 k with a 4 speed I am picking up a 5k with a 5 speed this week to chuck in her
-
By hose test do u mean hose it down then open her up and have a look. or lock you self In the boot with a Torch and a trusted mate ( who will let you out) and get them to hose it down whilst you look for it?
-
Where is this ke70 located any rego?
-
I'm still after confirmation on what I will need to do tail shaft wise, 5k with ke70 5 speed to orginal ke10 diff.
-
Yeah something I didn't think of damn it! Would be fun as hell. My old man has a Rhino which runs quad Tyres I think that's a few hundred kilos but still not the weight of a ke:( that is fun to rally tho! Those Tyres are awsome on grass/dirt

So after a bit of late night ebaying I've noticed quad rims coming in 12 inch 4x110 stud patern... As I want to build my ke10 into the ultimate paddock basher has anyone run quad rims and super chunky rubber on a ke10 ? Something different but interested in peoples thoughts

Is there a thread that out lines parts interchangeability between different model corrollas I'm specifically looking for info on ke10s any 20s I know there is tech articles I conversions but I'm more looking for bolt in stuff.. Ive noticed ke20 parts arw more available.... Ie can I use a Ke 20 diff in a Ke 10 or can I swap any panels between models etc. perhaps a thread people can post up what they have actually done rather than my " my mates uncles sisters dogs cousins wife one saw a bloke put a rotary in a golf kart" ( I would like to see this actually)
-
^^^ so you had no tail shaft issues?
-
Box of tissues and maybe a sun hat/umbrella on the parcel shelf. Every bit of paper work emaginable to do with the car in the glove box. one of those wheely bags in the boot. When filling up with fuel get the bloke at the servo to Check your oil and water.

Oh what a shame will have to make a hydro handbrake .... Damn :(
-
Yeah pretty sure it's got the shifter at the back (ke70) but should be getting the tailshaft with it so would be interesting to see what u find?
-
Haha ok I can take a hint... So i should go 5k 5 speed standard diff for now. What's the best way to link these? I'm pretty sure it's ke70 5speed.( shifter at rear)
-
as u may have geussed by the common theme of my threads i have alot of ke70 parts lying around and i also have a ke10. so has anyone converted a ke70 coil spring diff to fit a leaf sprung ke10? (ie fit leaf springs to ke70diff?) if i do this will i be able to run a standard ke70 tailshaft between a 5k and 5 speed? and most importantly is it worth it? the main reasons why i want to do it is. its already locked. its free. i already have it. and the different PCD
-
ok cheers for that. cutting holes is no drama. I'm pretty sure its a ke70 box but not 100 percent how do i tell? so depending of which box i have is which combo of uni/yokes i need to use?
-
does it bolt in? anything i need to watch out for? what tail shaft do i need to use? any tips and tricks?
-
I'm undecided at this stage if i want to sell anything. i think i wanna get her running before i choose which way to go. but if ya have any old stockies lying around they would come in handy cuz its really hard to move with flat tyres.
-
Just out of interest do u have to run backing plates? I like the look of open discs.
-
Sound good enough to me!
-
Can it be done? I have a ke70 crossmember with brakes and stuts and cut springs. Will this fit in the front my Ke10 or is it easier to covert to the drums as per the FAQ section? And does anyone have some stockies for sale so I can move this thing around abit easier? I'm located in the hunter.

I've seen a 2wd navara come of stands with my mate under it. Lucky he was under the spare tyre and not the diff centre that to this has left a 15mm dent in the road. It was all done by the book. But as stated before shake the shit outta the car first and double check before u get under. If you can leave the jack under there as 5th point of load but back it off a touch. More points the better. If u choose ramps i suggest u NOT using the on the driven wheels. I shot a pair 50mts down a drive way and across the road and cracked the gutter when I got wheel spin on a set in a commo once. Lucky no one was walking/driving by!

that just made me sooo pants happy!
