If its the same road I'm thinking of (just inbetween 2 creek crossings) you should be able to make it up. My dad made me take our ae95 up there waaaay back when i still had my L's. diff lock wasnt required either heh. Daniel.

Hi mate I have a rebuilt 5k head for sale with some work intended for boost. pm me if your interested. Daniel.
-
Thanks heaps mate, didnt have a car here to check. Makes it easy for me to install a new seat ;) Daniel.

Hi just a quicky does the seatbelt buckle bolt on in the ke70? the body itself? the seat itself? the rails of the seat? cheers Daniel.

I would check your extractors/inlet for warping the problem continues

hi the car looks very nice loving the wheels are they 14 or 15 inch minilites or superlites? cheers Daniel.

Cutting your springs that much will make it handle worse so it would make your 4age a little less fun :ninja: with the cam covers i would go the 'D' option and then sand off the tops of writing back to metal would look awesome! Daniel.

Hi all just a quicky just wondering if 4k-c and 5k-c waterpumps are interchangeable. i.e. use a 4k pump on a 5k thanks Daniel.
-
Hi I would check your idle mixtures, choke and throttle position valve (if fitted) then the float seems like a good place to check. I always use a container of water to get it right (don't get the accellerator pump wet however) otherwise correct float to a unopened 4k carb is aprox 7.5mm from the top cover of the carby top. hope this helps Daniel.

Hi not sure if this helps but from memory: Holden vn style hubs and discs will bolt onto a ta22 stub axle (could have been ra23 style axle) Ms65 crown hubs will fit onto a ma61 ra60 etc stub axle and have a 5 stud pattern which is the same as a hilux and ford. however this is off the top of my head so research these options fully before buying parts. Both these type of swaps are documented somewhere on toymods I'm sure. Daniel.
-
Hi yes its definatly possable just letting turbo_rolla know its not a bolt in swap there would be modification involved Daniel.

Hi before you get too excited about the t18 crossmember the steering setup is different. T18 has a steering box where as the ke70 has rack and pinion. Daniel edit: sorry didnt realise how old the post was

I remembered that my friend had a similar problem in his camry with his cat melting and cloging the exhaust system. So i shook the muffler and of course it rattled. A quick call to an exhaust shop confirmed that this could be the problem :) the rest is history Daniel.
-
Hey all thanks for the all the susgestions the problem is solved! The muffler was rusted out inside and as a result it must have been pulling chunks of packing and blocking the flow. so a new muffler on and its fixed! Thanks Daniel.

Thanks for the replys everyone the distributer seems to work as normal with a consistant advance when free reving the motor. there is strong vacume to the diaphram however i would like to swap over the vacume advance for another one. the car doesnt have a set point where it dies just relative to the load put on the engine i guess. the motor shows no problems or noises when free reving however that may not rule out a manifold leak i will try the methods susgested. The cracked cap sounds like something i may have overlooked as i was told it was replaced only a month before i purchased the car. the cap is a bosch but its quality and fitment is very average, i was suprised as bosch usually make a quality product. i may look into a genuine cap. I have taken the car and given it a bit along different terrains and i can replicate the problem on a flat road from a standing stop the noise will come about in 3rd gear but the power doesnt seem to be too effected. This leads me to it being more of a fueling issue perhaps the fuel pump is not supplying consistant fuel pressure to the carby? could a small hole in the diaphram only effect it when it has to perform at a higher level? anyways thanks for the susgestions i will try them asap i would like to get it running nicely for my girlfriend :P Daniel.

Hi everyone I'm having an interesting issue with a ke70 i purchased for my girlfriend. under load (i.e only driving up the mountain where i live) the car will loose all power and the car will begin to make a lagre hissing noise (almost like large air compressor cannot pinpoint if this is coming out the exhaust or the engine bay). The car will also heat up slightly but stays within the "normal" range on the guage. on pulling over the car will run very slightly rough but then correct itself within 20 seconds or so. after losing power and reaching the top the car will drive normally and wont do it again until under a consistant high load. the problem has got me stumped some of you may have noticed my thread on toymods but I'm hoping for some more specific answers from the corolla specialists :P the car starts and drives excellently and is the smoothest k motor i have driven in. It has excellent even compression both wet and dry and shows no signs of a blown headgasket, blowby or any other problems associated with major engine failures. The car is a genuine 1 owner with 108000kms. ok so here is what i have done to the car so far chasing the problem new leads new toyota plugs new points set gap and dwell new fuel filter new air filter checked primart fuel line for blockages: none aparent completly dismantled carby checked and cleaned jets, venturies and all passages: no blockages carby was immaculatly clean reset float level was slightly low raised it to slightly high: (may have caused problem to be less frequent however may have been my imagination.) cried when i saw the vacume mess that is toyota emc :) i am unsure where to go next with this problem i have disconnected the spaghetti connected to the vacume advance and run a direct line to it, i have yet to try this yet though. Any help from the gurus or those that have experienced similar problems would be appriceated thanks in advance Daniel.
