  4. yes it is on the same motor, changed distrbuter, changed carbie to webbers, still runs on and wont rev. :) it was a monotorque head gasket.
  5. :) it was the bolts. got the side draft webbers on now and waiting for a new dizzy. got told that all the seals inside it and that were wrecked. hhhhhhhhhhh. cars and $$$$$$ lol :) will get hubby to post more later. thanks for the help guys.
  6. :P what would cause a head gaskit to fail after only 5000km??????? the torque was right , head was skimmed, the block was clean. what went wrong? :) do you think i need to get the head re skimmed? could my bolts of strieched, or does the car just hate me.
  7. i was going to wait till i get the cam ground, i was looking at the points and even with the cap removed there was sparks jumping the points, is that normal? :P what is making that happen?
  8. 2 hours is about right for the time. any tricks. take photos , so you can remeber how is goes back in , oh and unplug your reverse light , its a pain to redo and it gobles up time :P believe me i know

  10. that's a good idea, but i've tryed that and the Manifold vacuum is so great that the advance maxes out on idle and it wants to ping like a moefoe. I was thinking about electronic points and locking off the vacuum all together in a effort to over come this. :P
  11. whats a xmas tree?? sorry i'm not good with all the car lingo. but the carby is a 40 mm dcoe side draft webber on a redline intake manifold so my hubby says :P
  12. took all the vaccumm stuff of because the webber didn't support it. i do know that the webber can be modified by drilling into one of the vaccumm chambers but none of the carby people in perth will touch it with a 30' pole. lol :P not enought money in it they say "jerks"

I got my corolla for my 21st off my husband 4 years ago. we recently re-conditioned a 4kc engine and are putting webbers onto it, it has a 3k distributor because we have removed all of the vaccumm advanced stuff, we also have straight through extractors, now my car sounds like a VW. and we have never been able to set the timing right it has to be advanced. please help :P
