  1. Cheers mate. THS H beam rods, ARP bolts, ACL race bearings and thrust washers all for 4age redtop block. :D Overrated roof, needs no work, :D Overrated window frames  Quarter needing no filler! Had to sort this for the daily. Had a tip. Got a new wing off AA63_MAD, ledgend! Primed it, paint tomorrow. All going well this should be fit for the painters next week. Quarters, door shuts, sill, pockets primed. Oh and I bought another 4age to run until the modified one is built up! :D
  2. Thanks lads! THS H beam rods, ARP bolts, ACL race bearings and thrust washers all for 4age redtop block. :D
  3. Well back at this. Big thanks to Diesel21 on here for giving me a hand and spraying my bay for the 2nd and hopefully final time, much happier with it now! Thanks again Kieran! Got a head off Maurice. too, started porting it. Half way through taking valves out, all fecking 16 of them! An exhaust cam in one piece, a first for me. :D Flush rocker covers. Perfect for, ''Yes Guard she is 998cc'' (tax purposes only!!). Normal carbon build up or what do you experts think? Porting started, Loving the long evenings already!! Got a few hours at this today. Back on the wheels, bay fitted out, waxed, more stripping etc. Have two weeks off now for Easter starting Friday now, should see the car painted by the end of the two weeks. :D
  4. Second and please god last operation on my knee today. On midterm now, not supposed to do a tap with this but my engine bay needs painting. We will see how bad the bordem is. ha Not too happy with it, will redo it.
  5. Looks like pure scutter in the pictures and the paint is wet in them. Will get better tomorrow. Away most of the weekend now so won't get much done unfortunately. sold the 4age today! Rubbed down the bay today, never got a chance to paint it. The air was damp and cold anyway. Will dust the place down, re-mask, degrease, heat the place and hopefully paint it in the next few evenings.
  6. Underside of bonnet and wings got 3 coats of primer and wings got a coat of etch under that too. Had the room roasting, it is well baked on! Shit pictures I know, lightig was poor, looks shinier and better in the flesh I promise.
  7. Wings, bonnet, apron, few little panels now have 3 coats of 2k primer. Never got to do the underside of them, next weekend. Never gpt the car back on its wheels either. Was busy with other things too. Keyed down, Guide coated, Overrated bonnet. :D
  8. Many people here running the hyperpak ignition computer? I got one today off a friend but his never worked for him, but at the same time didn't try much with it.
  9. The rest of the bay is guide coated now. 4 coats and ready to drop it onto its wheels now. Paint looks sh!t in the pictures.
  10. Thanks man.
  11. Underneath the chassis legs, the front slam pannel, valance, outer side of inner wings and the crossmember are now painted red. She can now be dropped back to her wheels and I will leave the bay for the spray booth to get the best finished. The wings and bonnet are nearly all ready for primer too hopefully over the weekend. Haven't got any pictures though, tomorrow! Will give it another coat tomorrow which will make it 3.
  12. Now that is fricking overrated! Well wear.
  13. Loving this project man, fair play keep it up!
  14. Don't trust setting it up like that just borrow a timimg light and do it right, end of arguement. If you still have problems after this is eliminated anyway but having your timing set up correctly may help lower your idle speed a little bit.
  15. I think but not 100% sure that the 4ac or 3ac dissy casing bolts to the 4age head. The problem is that the 3-4AC dizzy spins anti-clockwise when the 4age one spins clockwise. You change this by swapping the gear over from the 4age dizzy to the AC one but then timing retards rather than advances with RPM. However I reckon the internals of a 4k dizzy will swap over so that the centrifugal weights open the right way so that the timing will again advance rather than retard with RPM. Think I will try give it a go.
  16. Has anyone used a 4ac dizzy? Can they fit in? Or can you swap in the unit around the shaft from the AC dizzy to the AG dizzy? Is there any other dizzy internals you can swap in around the shaft? I have a crowd in the UK, H & H ignition solutions that will do it but at about €300-350. I have seen a lot of bad reports on the Hyperpack unit so I have gone off that idea. I know there are similar MSD units out there but generally more expensive than the H & H dizzy conversion.
  17. Thanks man. A company in Ireland, japaneseperformance.ie imported it from Japan from me. That is what he does. They are quite expensive though. Having a welded diff would drive me mad with skipping and locking all the time though.
  18. Also by your picture you posted of your dizzy the timing is retarded to the max. That is if the dizzy was slotted in on the correct tooth. Turn it clockwise to retard ignition and anti-clockwise to advance it. Also, where are your plug tubes?
  19. All you need to do is losen the bolt a small bit and rotate the dizzy so that the strobe lights when your mark on the crank pulley reaches your desired degree BTDC.
  20. Thanks Josh was good and pokey alright but it didn't do much driving before the camshaft snapped.
  21. Clean out your jets in your carb. I wouldn't worry about it until you set the timing up correctly as that could very likely be causing it. You're stock dizzy can be set at any degree of advance at idle. That is why you twist it so that you can have the ignition timing coming exactly when you want it to maximise power and fuel economy. When you say 8 degrees that is what Toyota recommend for fuel economy and emmissions. You can set it at whatever you thinbgs works best. Generally 10-15* BTDC. I found about 13 degrees BTDC was best. Are you sure your cam timing is correct? All marks/dimples lined up?
  22. Thanks dude. It has fair good handling to be fair. Power with the 4age was brilliant until I busted that cam. Was good for 3rd gear arse out, sideways action!! I am from Ireland. There were loads sold here but the vast majority were scrapped or burried due to rust. There is a good community of modified Starlets over here though.
  23. Thanks guys. Must get back at it now over the holidays.
  24. Thanks again. Not mad on perminately locked dizzy at all really. I've seen some bad revues on the hyperpack between it not working and very poor post sale and customer service. Any MSD module out there that does the same job?
  25. I had a 270 degree cam with 9mm lift in my 4k as well as a few other mods such as a 5kg flywheel, ported head, 4-2-1 manifold uprated valve springs etc. I never had it able to idle below about 1200 RPM. The timing was set at 13 degrees BTDC at idle and all. She may idle a bit lower but cut after about 30 secs. I reckoned with a good carb I would have got it lower and smoother.
