i think i understand it.. ill just chuck the cam in for now, then slowly do the other things
-
well I'm running 10:1 compression 2 1/4" exhaust with 4-1 extractors and a weber carby, pretty sure its that dvg or what ever
-
I don't want lumpy idle, due to being on my P's.. And also, it apparently peaks at 7500rpm.. I don't really want to be revving that hard, as Its not balanced.. Will it be to big for street driving? Or should I give it a go?
-
hey, i keep getting mixed feedback on this cam, its the tighe 104.. 25-65 270dur with .423 lift will it be to big for a 5k wich is 50/50 street highway driving.. what will it be like in low rpm? thanks
-
crow 4220's are what exactly? so just keep running stock for now, till they ^ arrive?
-
Why: Running a bigger cam, with .423 lift, when stock springs are max .4** lift.. The factory springs can't cope with that amount of lift.
-
I'm kinda tight on cash, but iv found some for $150 from tighe.. Is that a decent price?
-
now thats rust!

Hey, I'm in need of some hevy duty valve springs for my 5k engine.. I need to get them as my head and cam is getting worked.. Also too, it would be good if it was around the goldcoast area
-
Took the head in today, acid dipped decked to 10:1, Heavy duty valve springs New valve stem seals Decarboning my valves.. Picking it up tomorrow :)
-
I'm getting the tighe 20-60 260dur .423 lift.. Peak at 6500rpm As the most common is 25-65 270dur peak @ 7500.. I don't really want to be revving that hard, and itl be shit to drive on the street. So I'm going a tad smaller, as mentioned above.. Due to the fact that it's going to be a daily, with 50/50 street/highway
-
Tighe quoted me $210 to gring it to the hydro specs of what ever I wanted.. I'm going to keep running hydro, as I don't plan to rev over 8grand.. If you could give me the info to this other place, that would be good, I'll ring them in the morning

had a mate over today, and spent an hour or so stripping the interior, getting it ready for new carpet, and new bucket seats
-
yeah i know the stretch is to much, but oh well.. a good looking car isnt legal.. where is the meet at?
-
yeah they have crazy strech, so they fit perfectly in the guards.. but I'm going to pump my guards more.. just to cover a little more tyre.. and yeah, the plan is white paint, then black interior that way at night, all you see is the white ke :P shoould hopefully be on the road in mid january.. and nah, its got a 2 1/4" with some sort of muffler at the rear, with a 3" tip?

What Is The Stock Cc In The Combustion Chamber Of A 5K?
5ksev replied to 5ksev's topic in General Mechanical
i want just the head though, not the entire cyl.. just trying to work out if my head has been shaved or not by the previous owner -
went out and got a new top end gasket kit.. and got some quote's on my engine work.. $150 to shave my head to 10:1 compression $210 to grind my cam at " tighe " to the specs of: 20-60 260dur with 423 lift and then $80 for the gasket kit also, i have a cooling fan and shroud forsale, if anyone is interested, shoot me a text: 0432740324

yeah I'm sure your all getting over me posting stuff already, but i keep coming across things i didnt expect.. I'm trying to work out what the cc is in the combustion chamber of a 5k head.. just so i can tell if its been shaved before. if anyone know's or has a spare head laying around ( one that hasnt been shaved ) could you please let me know!
-
yeah 98, going to run a 20-60 cam with 10:1 compression.. how can i go by working out my compression now, without having to take the engine out.. due to it being on a lean?
-
thanks for that.. iv been talking to a few people, and due to being 50/50 on street/highway driving.. i was thinking the 25/65 270dur wich peaks at 7500.. so I'm going to go the 20-60 wich is 6500 peak.. and if its still to big, ill just go a little smaller.. cam grind is going to cost $200 for hyrdo lifters from tighe and iv also found a guy to shave my head. being 9.0 stock compression he wanted to run 9.5 but iv spoken to tighe and they have suggested 10:1.. so I'm going to get that @ the price of $150 also went out and purchased a new gasket kit
-
i do understand that.. but i really doubt ill end up with an acurate answer.. I'm going to a head place today.. they should be able to work it out for me hey?
-
hey, well hopefully today I'm going to take my head into town to get shaved for more compression iv got a 5k block and head.. but what I'm stuck on is, how do i work out what compression ratio am i running.. and what should i get it shaved to?
-
oh okay, well yeah I'm going to speak to my mate tomorrow ( mechanic ) because he's done a bit with carb'd and cams.. so ill see what he thinks.. I'm leaning towards going 25-65 270dur and if i don't like it.. ill just get a smaller one..
-
nah i was going to get a place in town to do it tomorrow. but yeah so a 2mm washer should be sweet. and ha yeah, well ill give it a go anyway, by saying " powerful " does it mean forced induction, or just inturnal mods like I'm doing? and if its too big for what i want, ill just get another cam and make it a 20-60 or something a little smaller then mentioned above

over the past couple days iv pulled the head off, and taken the cam out. i plan to shave & port the head, with new HD valve springs and the cam i plan to regrind.. i had 25-65 270dur in mind. highway and street driving will be 50/50 but will this cam be to big for street driving, although its a 5k not 4? and also, i broke one of my lifters trying to pull it out with plyers ( hydro ) i know there's a big debate.. but should i just replace it.. or keep the head off for longer and replace it with a solid conversion? some wheels i tried on :P the head the cam
