yeah 5k don't have adjustable valve train.. thats why i was getting a little confused before.. my valve train geometry? should be perfect, due to taking 40thou off my base circle, and 40thou off my head.. there for, everything ( lifters, pushrods, rockers, valve's are all the same as at the start.. I'm leaning towards the carby.. i did the 2-3 lead swap around.. and it will idle at around 1000 now, but starts to die any lower.. so I'm thinking either do it again, or it could possibly be.. my carby is missing the secondary linkage's.. ( the old owner siliconed the shaft on the outside so it couldnt spin) so I'm thinking somewhere along the line's of changing the spring, iv bumped it and its moved.. there for, running like a bitch at idle?

ill give that a go... also, if anyone knows... what rpm should my idle be at? 10:1 compression 32/36 weber 25/65 cam with .440 lift 2 1/4" exhaust pacemaker extractors

which jet is the idle? ill go give it a run now ( being cold ) and see how it goes... if still shit.. that should cross out the valve clearence problem?

I didn't, I just took my head off and got a place in town to shave it. And put hd valve springs in.. I don't understand how I adjust the valves though?

i havnt spoken about it to him yet, as its a bit late.. how do i go by checking the clearances?

sure did, my mate ( performance mechanic ) said to run it for an hour or so, over different rpm's

hey all, iv got a 5k with 32/36 weber? ( i think ) tighe 25/65 cam 10:1 compression premium 98 fuel i got it all back together today, and it was running fine for about an hour, i turned if off, to put a stronger spring on the throttle return, and didnt like it so i put the old one on again.. started it up, and then all of a sudden it just wouldnt idle.. it kept stalling.. so i turned the throttle up, and it will idle at around 1200+rpm, but if i slow it down to about 800-1000 it runs for about 5sec, then gets real rough and stalls.. is this because of: carby needing to be tuned? timing is wrong? or my dizzy needs to be adjusted? video of it idling alright http://youtu.be/tply9tZh2EU

yeah i was thinking that.. they say they will grind it to what i want, charge me $210, and don't do it to exactly what i ask.. but hey.. screw driving to brisbane again just for 2 degree's

I don't really understand much about cams.. I just know what I wanted, haha. I'll talk to a mate tomorrow ( mechanic ) and have him explain it all to me.. Thanks guys

and also, so really.. it dosnt run .423 lift like they say.. so there was really no point in upgrading to hd springs like they say

the lift is far smaller though? or am i just reading it wrong? also do they not gring to the specs, just to an " approx " ?

hey all, well i took my 5k cam to tighe, and told them i wanted the tighe 104 grind.. so i drove up there today and picked it up ( i live in nsw ) and just looking at the tag, it has these specs on it? this isnt the grind i asked for, is it?

yeah well iv gone the 25/65 270dur .423 lift cam, by tighe.. and shaving my head from stock to 10:1 comression.. wich i hope will fix the problem its caused.. but if not, ill just shave my rocker post's a little more

i think this might actually work.. as iv shaved my head to 10:1 wich is apparently 40thou.. i just gotta ask tighe tomorrow when i get my cam, how much have they taken off.. but in theory, it should be almost back to normal?

quick question.. by shaving my rocker post's it will end up making my gear sit on an angle like this.. will that not be bad?

Well I'll double check with them when I pick it up, and see what they say, and what will happen if I don't change it.. If I can get away with it, I will.. Due to having a short-ish budget.. But if I have to.. Oh well

sorry about that.. and the whole story, i took my stock cam to tighe yesterday, and told them that i wanted the thighe 104 gring? and i want to keep hydro lifters.. so I'm getting the hydro grind.. but he was saying something along the line's of, needing to get adjustable rockers, due to grinding the cam, the lifters / pushrod / rockers wont be sitting properly? but yet i havnt come across anyone with this problem before?

hey, just wondering, apparently after putting a cam in my 5k, i have to run adjustable rocker gear? ( even though keeping hydro lifters ) just wondering if this is a " have to do " or can i get away without doing it?

okay good, i just don't want it to be " oh hello mr police man, please pull me over! " with the 104, how was it to drive around the streets at low rpm? being in a 5k, it should come on cam a little earlier then in the 4k, am i right?
