the bushes is the same on ke70 and ae86. I'm 110% sure of this except the front controll arm bush that I haven't swaped myself yet.. but they look identical I have a question: what is the difference between heim joints and uniballs?
-
hehe, created with gimp ::y:
-
I have created a picture of how the flares will look like: I will also use side skirt from ae82 I'm not finished with the picture yet.. I have also spraypainted the dashboard black matt  will post pictures of it later!
-
nope, just spike-less and regular spike tyres :\ I wasn't there because of 2-3mm thread left on my rear tyres + a bad rear wheel bearing on my ta22 axle :)
-
here's a movie that was taken a few days ago: movie.avi 85MB I wasn't there, but it's stll worth seeing :)

I did buy a parts-car on friday since I needed some body parts like fenders etc and we've started making flares! :D when we're finished I'm going to going to make a fibreglass mould. here is some pictures of the progress: as you can see, we're not finished yet! i'm going for the ta64 wrc look / trd widebody, but with sharper edges ( more boxy form, so it suit the ke70 body more ) the flares is 7cm wide on each side :jamie: so I guess I won't have a prolem with the wheels hitting the flares like I did last summer
-
nice! I guess you made the rear coilovers yourself? looks like bilstein shocks just like I have.. got any more pictures of how they are made? just welded the thread tube on the damper or what? :D also, are you gonna reinforce the chassis? I'm thinking about making/buying rear coilovers myself and I guess I'll go for a 10point rollcage, but I don't know if it's enough reinforcement

yeah.. I figured that out while I was changing it :D when I get the panhard rod shortened + using 1cm spacers on each side I think it will be okay, but I will only use it temporary for a few months untill I can afford to fix the ae86 rear axle I have also found a parts-car I will buy this week I hope. it's a 2 door sedan. I will use the front fenders and the doors from that car because mine is all rusted up + I have some dents on the right fender and then I will get the car professionaly spray painted :D I also have plans to get 20v throttlebodyes and a programable ecu, maybe slightly bigger cams, I'm aiming for about 200hp I know I have 9,8mm lift ( stock is 7,2mm I think ) but I'm not sure about the duration.. OR I will just buy a turbo from a 3sgte and decompress the engine and aiming for about 250-300hp else there isn't much to improve, only new seats and a rollcage next season I'm thinking about trying tarmac racing with the car, in a class with road registered cars, I think it could be fun :D

I mounted the ta22 rear axle today, and while I did I saw that it's a bit shorter than my previous rear axles. + the ke70 panhard rod is too short, and the ta22 panhard rod is too long.. so I have to shorten it soon.. I did fix it temporary by using 1cm with spacers on the right side :D also the ae86 tailshaft is different bolt pattern to ta22 rear axle, so I could only get 2 bolts to fit.. hehe also I only have brakes on the left side at the rear axle, I guess I will fix all this next weekend

a few weeks ago I destroyed my ae86 rear axle with lsd and everything.. I checked it and it seems its the 2 bearings for the pinion and some small damage to the pinion.. I did swap over to my previous ke70 rear axle with welded diff too use it temporary.. today I managed to destroy the ke70 axle too.. seems like it's the left axle shaft?? ( I have only 1wheel drive now hehe ) so it's time for something that will last a bit longer.. hilux 8" maybe? or I can get a ta22 6,7" rear axle, but can I use the lsd from the ae86 axle on the ta22 axle if I swap over axle shafts? I'm so tired of this car now.. every week something new get damaged.. I wish I could afford to buy something better.. the waterpump has started too leak in the little hole in the bottom.. I guess it's a seal or bearing that is damaged..
-
yeah, sure, but who wants to donate a dvcam to me? :(
-
of course! :) we got about 10cm with snow here in norway where I live yesterday, changed to snow tyres today :) now I'm ready for some serious drifting :( but I need a rollcage :\ hehe

I got my friend that works as a mechanics to find out what it was.. he says it's a bearing that has broken.. 99% sure it's the inner/outer rear wheel bearing and he also says it's broken because of too stiff springs and too hard driving =) but hey.. that car gotta be used that is actually good news... I was worried about if I had to buy a new diff and lsd :( I guess I'll change every single bearing in the rear axle at the same time.. so I don't have to change it in a couple of years or so.. ;)
-
yeah.. my friend is 99% sure it's the diff too... but I hope not! 4.7:1 and 1.5way LSD isn't very cheap :lmao: I guess I have to drive with the locked ke70 rear axle while I rebuild my current one I will take a look tomorrow.. I just hope it's something cheap that broke!! :sigh:

today when I drove the car.. just after I did a hard brake from around 80 to 30km/h I heard a weird sound from hehind.. I have problems describing the sound because of the lack of my english knowlegde.. but I can only describe it as if you lower your car too much and hitting a speed dump or something.. and it's like if my wheel is not in center and hitting the chassis 1 time every cycle.. if I drive slow in 1. gear I can't hear it.. the faster I drive the faster the sound is.. the sound is only there when I accelerate.. I can clutch.. or just give a tiny bit of throttle without accelerate and the sound disapers.. the sound is getting louder if I give much throttle.. I jack up the rear of the car.. full throttle.. in every gear.. and there is no sound.. only when I'm driving.. possible failures I think it might be: diff? tailshaft X? tailshaft rubber thingy? axleshaft? rear wheel bearing? what do you guys think can be the problem? what should I start to check? I'm starting the get tired of things that goes wrong every damn time I'm driving it.. #¤%:lmao:
-
what about clearance to the dashboard? will that be a problem? or don't you have one? hehe my LHD ke70 has the wiper motor on the passenger side from factory? are you gonna connect a wire etc so you can adjust the brake balance while you're driving?
-
nice pedalbox you got there:D do you have any more pictures of it? I really want to make one for myself!
-
I'm not sure, but the red ones is the gravel struts, they look like ae86 struts I guess but the black ones that I use now I'm not sure, since they has different location for the caliper mounts.. maybe someone else know?
-
hehe, thanks :D but I still have many upgrades to do.. I want shorter steering knuckles, ae86 power steering or make some myself, I just don't know if I can make them any shorter than the PS steering knuckles? I also want true 4 link for rear axle, with every rod the same length, that means I have to make new mounts, and they have to be adjustable as well, I guess 7degrees on the diff would be the best setup for good traction.. I also want wattlink, but I guess that will never happend, so I guess it'll just be a adjustable panhard rod..
-
I might be interested, depends how they look and how much you want for them. pictures would be nice ps: the coilovers is set for maximum ride height, but I don't think I'll go any lower..
-
today I finally got the suspension done since my wheel bearings was f@$ked I decided to changed from gravel struts to tarmac struts, with bilstein shocks "400.220"? I guess that's bound/rebound? springs are stiffer than the gravel springs too.. maybe a bit too stiff for road use, but who cares? :( lowered, from: to: now I really need some flares.. can't get my finger between the wheel and fender.. I'm 99% sure I'm going for this look: TA64 WRC Picture pics of the conversion: got better clearance from caliper to the wheel because of the new mounts, now I don't need the spacers anymore :D ( I had 10mm on each side before )
-
most of the parts for ae86 fit ke70 too.. rear suspension is 100% identical, I guess it's the same with the front suspension too.. koni uses the same part numbers for both of them.. I guess you could use ae86 bushes on a ke70.. I've checked out a few toyota part numbers and it's the same.. I can check if there is a difference with front-springs tomorrow, they look the same I don't know if they are more expensive than other shops in the uk, but they have better prices than most of the shops here in norway, but everything is expensive here :\ hehe
-
since you're from uk I would recommend www.fensport.co.uk but you've probably heard of them before? they don't have anything for ke70, but ae86 is almost identical

I just got rid of the axle tramp 100% now!!:bash: 1. gear dounuts into 2. dounuts until you stand still and it's smoke everywhere :D I did lowered the rear of the car yesterday: I did buy special tools for adjusting the coilovers today, and started.. lowered a few cm then it began to be hard.. bad threads.. so I will swap for the tarmac suspension, with lower springs and shorter stroke on the shocks.. then I found out why my steering wheel was vibrating between 90 and 110km/h.. really really noisy wheel bearing.. I didn't hear it when I drove because my exhaust is so loud :D so I guess I will park the car for a while, removing rust, a new paint job, buy new discs, pads, and wheel bearings, etc.. then I will make some new mounts for the caliper, because I want more clearance to the rims so I can remove the spacers to get the wheel inside the wheelhouse :D some pictures of the brake clearance problem: as you can see, I can move the caliper about 5mm back.. and maybe even fit wider discs.. ( mine is now 25,4mm wide ) I also have some pictures when I changed the clutch on monday and tuesday this week: as you can see, I managed to break one of the bolts on the flywheel :blinks: luckely I managed to remove it by welding another bolt to it :angrybird: the old and new clutch. still waiting for the trd 212mm clutch and pressure plate.. very nice tool for centering the clutch:D ( wrong spelled, I know.. ) I also did buy some blue samco vacuum hoses, looks nice :D, but I haven't got a picture of them yet..
