altezza that makes perfect sense. i thought if i bought it already stripped, id just have to paint it and put it back together. easy. but i wouldnt know were everything goes. if i pull it apart myself ill know how to put it back together. thanks for your help everyone, I'm gonna look for a complete car and rebuild it. how likely am i to find a complete corolla ke30 at a wrecker? roughly how much $$$ will i be looking at for a complete car? ill keep searching ebay, gumtree etc till i find something thats right for me. umm the engine isnt in and (to me) the bay looks like it hasnt been touched. ill be asking him if hes cut anything or done anything which will stop me from putting a 4k in it. heres the pictures of it. oops i forget to mention the conversion hasnt been done yet. he said he has the motor and has the brackets. it just needs a gearbox and to be dropped in. But i think I'm gonna stick with the 4k. sounds much easier for my first restoration/conversion. wow that a lot cheaper than i was expecting. just gotta find one :hmm:

didnt refresh before i posted. you beat me to it. i totally agree with everything you have said. i was only doing the sr because it came with it, but ive done some researching and it looks a big job. id definitely benefit starting off simple. The guy said he ran out of money and couldnt afford the gearbox and the rest of it. Fair enough. ill check it out before i buy it but. its all primed up and he said he cut all the rust out first. i have thought about what i want to do with it and i don't want much power at all. the plan is just to have a bit of fun, bringing an old crappy pile of metal back life, and being proud of my work when its complete. i plan to drive it around for a couple of months then sell it. maybe even make a profit. (but don't need to, just want the experience to decide if i really want to get into it.) thanks mate definitely gonna start with a small simple motor. ill be having a go at spraying it aswell.

ok had a quick look on ebay and i can get $1500 to $2000 for it. how much would i be looking at for a 4k motor and k50 gearbox? cheers

ok cheers guys. do you know were i might be able to find a 4k and a k50 gearbox? roughly how much do you reckon id be able to flog the sr off for? (i know you can't say as you don't know the condition or kms, but whats a rough range?) thanks guys

thanks mate. yeah I'm on my p's. forgot all about the performance mods thing. is there any readily avaible, legal motors i can put in? i had a look around the net but couldnt find any 3k motors. sorry about before mate, i just hate it when older people think they can tell me what to do, just because I'm only 17. i can see you were trying to be helpful but personally i don't believe this part was needed. Hey guys I'm 17 and have been wanting to do a restoration project for a while now. Ive found a KE30 for sale real cheap and rust free ready for paint. The only problem is it has a SR20 motor with no gearbox. I really want to buy this and start my first project but I don't want to buy the wrong gearbox and waste a lot of money. Ive been searching the internet for days and can't seem to find a straight answer. - What gearbox do I need - What problems will I have getting it to fit PLEASE HELP Any help would be greatly appreciated.
