soo... i got some second hand king springs and monroe shocks off ebay... back ones went in no worries, nice drop fairly lower but still looks legal then onto the front, jacked her up, pulled the wheel, got the strut off after messing around with the brake line for ages, then i was like ohh how does this come apart... :hmm: proceeded with undoing the big nut on the top cap with stihlsins on the shock, cracked that got it off, then the spring was still on there, so started tapping it, BOOM! spring and tophat shot across the shed :lolcry: lucky didnt hit anything/anyone.. and yehh now i got that off the old stuffed shock is sitting in there and really doesn't look like it wants to come out, theres like two small holes on top of the shock and i have tried to unscrew it with pointy nosed pliers however it is taking forever and doesnt seem to be winding off... do i just keep at it orr is there some sort of tool or easier method to thiss?? The shocks are stuffed and oosing out oil really don't wanna put it back in like thiss...

BenH_Ke70 replied to BenH_Ke70's topic in Automotive Discussion
Oright thanks everyone, NO I'm not hurt and mad little red spirit, I know i gotta talk to an expert  I will be having a chat with an engineer or a few, I know it can all be done and certainly has before but your saying there is certain standards that have to be maintained and different engineers will give you diff feedback on what they want. Thanks again -

So really what I should of asked Has anyone in QLD - put a smallport 4age into an 82 ke70 -with a fuel pump in the boot -and run ae86 suspension up front -and got it regoed like that, recently? did you need mod plate for anything? surely that sort of setup can't differ so much in the rule books that I MUST see an engineer to know for sure It can be done? either way i will have to see an engineer I know this -

What I was looking for was peoples personal experience with getting these mods signed off legally, because surely on a site dedicated to people owning and modifying corollas that it has been done before right? honestly I'm not going to book an appointment, I don't have money for that just yet and havn't even done any of these things to my corolla yet... I am just wanting to here from people that have done similiar mods, thought I was looking in the right place.. obviously not haha -

more of a case of cross the bridge when i get there i guess, just want some idea of what will need mod plates before i start buying parts and what not I have looked at QLD modifications guide, but it sooooo long and hard to find specific details -
I'm looking at putting a smallport 4ag in my ke70 and want it as daily, what things will need a mod plate? my thoughts are -Engine -fuel pump and surge tank -want to run twin carbs, does anyone have this in rego'd car? does it pass omissions or watever? -ae86 suspenion/brakes up front -lowered springs can't think of anything else for now should i just get the engine and fuel pump nshit mod plated and do suspension and stuff after :P

:P Think i need to buy a new socket haha I'm new here so still reading lots about my car and plenty of stuff to learn Great site, so much good info and people willing to help out fellow corolla owners :y: I got my first Ke70 a couple weeks ago, well first roadworthy one :P Just been working on a bit of rust around fuel filler, boot rubber lip etc and decided ill knock it all back from behind the back doors back, bit of clear coat that someones painted on there flaking off so might as well fix it all up Anyway went to pop out the vent on the rear pillar, andd nooo not so easy.. pulled out the plastic panel inside and the seats, now what thee some long bolt sticking out with a tiny unreachable nut, can't get a spanner in there, Long type size 10 socket wont get it... so my question is, how do these vents come out, seems like a lot of messing around for such a simple thing

WOW! such dedications, Just amazing dude. I just spent the last few hours on a journey, following you each step of the way, The set backs, the suspense of it, hahaha man what a ride... Better than a flashy show car, its like its factory but soo much better, If toyota made them like that everyone would want one, i know i DO!! :P
