In that case, as said before, if you remove the heater your car is no longer roadworthy and the gains are very minimal... Cops are gonna have a good look when they see the fogged up windows Fair enough, that should cure it... good luck on the build! I wish i got a non A/C twinky :( -

Hmm.. doing all this work may not fix your over heating problems, just be careful jumping the gun there mate. Especially with mildly built up motor you wont want to cook it now So is this becoming a full time track car now, I thought it was a daily? -
still waiting on the electrician.... :(

Leave the heater in otherwise it isnt roadworthy because then you cannot demist your windscreen. If you want gains, remove the A/C and its condenser which makes the radiator the first thing in line for some air other than the oil cooler. + moar fasts because less weight  As Evan said, get proper guages... i learnt this the hard way on the track as i think i overheated and blew my gasket because of an inaccurate gauge. What did you get as the results for the compression test? -
AAAAAWWWWW YEEEEAAAAAAHH!!!

I'm not fussed about parking manouvers... especially when the car will weight less than 880 without it, so it wont be an overly hard task. I'm sick of the mess the power steering causes. I just want a clean and easy to work on engine bay... Plus on really hot days or days where i know i will be parking lots ill steal my mums car :P This is true. But with these cars every kilo counts. So far ive removed 15 kg of A/C stuff, and i havent even touched the stuff under the dash. When the PS is gone and all the AC that should mean ill weight in at about 880KG I need to take it to a weigh bridge  Got a few goodies and shiney bits that ill be putting on the car once its running  and have to do a few finishing touches to a few things in the engine bay and then I'm just waiting on the auto electrician... hopefully it gets done before the classic jap car show coming up next sunday
-
Made an idler pulley so the P/S can stay in for a little longer, threw the radiator back in and attempted some wiring (fail) booked it in to the auto-electrician for monday, and then cleaned the huge mess ive created over the last week lol
-
Degreased the engine bay and ripped the AC out completely

Same story. Damn that wishlist and the lack of space/time/moneys!!! Sounds good Luke! There is nothing more fun than a bit of real life tetris hahaha! oh the joys of moving Now i would offer you my trailer, but i don't have one due to the space/time/money reasons...lol sorry mate!

My apoligies, you are correct. Bigport = 240 Smallport = 232 -
But all is good now, I'm happy :) lol So what are the plans? - Ditch the power steering! Why you ask? Well having heaps of issues with it with exploding PS lines and on the track leaks everywhere, the mess and clutter was not worth its benefits. And I will be installing a stock manual steering rack from another AE82 (random pic of stains under wheel well is from the PS, stained my wheel too :( ) - Ditch the AC. Wasnt gassed, therefore it is useless weight and more clutter. - Place a smallport 4AGE in the gap that is hopefully a bit more healthy and is a whole lot easier to work on... and 17KW more power!!! :D Hopefully this will leave the car with 103KW and weighing in at about 870KG which is pretty much ideal for this car :) Bring on the sub 1:48's!! (hopefully lol) PICS:

I have seen this car for sale just sitting on the side of the road for a while now. It seems fairly straight from first glance and there doesnt seem to be any rust, but it does need a little TLC Glad this found a good home :)
-
Well thats true when youre talking about a large engined RWD car like a Supra or Chaser, but compare our cars to a 4AGE AE86 or Ksev and its a different story... :bash: 16V's are a pain in FWD format... Thanks for the heads up. I will be doing just that, and while I'm at it ill check and measure everything up and also check the compression, hopefully i can ditch this shim and get it to 11:1

Dude that sucks!! :( i hope you manage to get all your stuff back, and that those scum crooks be caught aswell... srsly??!! out of all the things to steal!! :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff:and ripping up the wife's pants for buttons?? WTF!!? :blinks:

Took the head off today, turns out there is a 10mm gap in between 2nd and 3rd right where the gasket used to be lol Got another gasket coming in soon :) In other news, working on fwd is about as fun as doing this >>> :bash:

:blinks: I think its time for a new ECU? head over to your local wreckers and try and snap one up from there. -
Youve done a fair few kays with this car and still looks clean! Love the "3 mates, 3 inch lowering kit" you installed.... had one in my old AE102 but everything was scraping so i removed it :( LOL oh and Damn those GPS's!! haha
-
WAHOO!!! Thats awesome news! :)

welcome! Not the best place to post this question... but have a look on carsales for the price on the car, redbook also has a somewhat accurate price range for them aswell. As for specs? Smallport 4AGE 103kw engine that revs out to 7800RPM Macpherson struts all round Seca's weigh about 1080kg They arent the fastest car out there, but with a bit of work on the suspension and decent tyres you would be surprised with what they keep up with on the track I drive an AE82 an with s-comp tyres and coilovers being my only mods i was 0.8 seconds off of the time of a 2009 Focus XR5... for a tenth of the cost :laff: Keep us posted on your car buying shenanigans ;)

Temp fix = fail Head is coming off tomorrow morning

He was on old twincam under the username of dorifto i think Bways is a beast... I'm just being hopeful in my abilities now... But for starters, I have to have an engine thats 100%... I was barely hitting 140 down the straight and in my AE102 I was hitting about 150 Then better tyres, semi slicks atleast Then a little more suspension work, and a wheel alignment as i still havent done one since i put the coilovers in lol And better brakes... almost any street/track pad is better than bendix generals! brake fade FTW! lol Achievable yes. Easy? no. Now back to reality.. :P I ripped the cam covers off, and found that the 4 centre most head bolts are quite loose, ill tighten them up, put everything back together and hopefully it will hold for about a week until i start and finish parts hoarding... Then the car will be off of the road until january... I have something cooking in the basement that should drop my times to the next benchmark time of 1:46 ;) Ill miss the AE82, the first 4 weeks so far have been awesome!! Will be driving my mums car and my dads bommodore :(

It was the best! the car just kept on surprising me throughout the whole day.... and surprising WRX's too. Its odd seeing a WRX STi go off of the track trying to keep up to some box corolla :laff: Nah, you shouldnt be aiming for my time AE093 over at twincam.org.au has gotten a 1:46 in his old AE92 Bway has gotten a 1:42 in his AE82 I want those times, with my car still being becoming a reliable daily driver :P LOL And as promised, a vid :) http://imageshack.us/clip/my-videos/692/nixy.mp4/

Oh hai So today I woke up at 5AM and drove up to winton for the winton tampered track day, the first proper track day ive attended, and first track day i have attended in this car. Got to scrutineering, acting all noob because i am and asked for directions to everywhere lol Pics of car: umadnoobs? Prepared the car and went out for my first session aiming for a measly 2:00 lap time. I went around fairly easily just getting to know the circuit again and the car in these conditions and it was a bit sketchy here and there but not too bad. The session got cut short by another corolla dude one of those new corollas getting stuck in the gravel trap. So i was a bit disappointed about that, and crawled back to the pits to see my time... lo and behold I have a look at the screen and am shocked that i got a 1:51.4!! So I got all pumped and went out for the next session, making a few adjustments to my shocks beforehand. The car felt much better but still very floaty and understeery. Traffic didnt help in this session, kept on getting held up by other cars, which wasnt very fun :( Came back with a 1:52.3 The car kept surging because i had no petroleum, so i dashed into town to get some. Got back just in time to lower my tyre pressures and adjust my shocks up before heading out with a passenger this time. Ended up with a 1:52 flat Session 4: Went out by myself and had a few hotlaps, car was nicely adjusted for the track, only thing holding me up was the tyres, at the beginning. I pushed the car a little bit more and managed a 1:49.5990 PB Then on my last lap my head gasket blew and i lot pretty much all compression in 2nd and 3rd cylinders GAH!!! :( We packed up and limped home, kinda happy, kinda sad with the results form the day i have some video ill upload of session 2 and sesh 4's BHG shenanigans in the next few days kthxbye
