  1. That beige one is awesome - if its the car I'm thinking of a Granny in Gawler used to own it over 10 years ago - I put a note on it several times asking her to sell it to me. Remember that Toyoglide badge so clearly, what a beautiful car!
  2. Looks nice and long and low in that last photo...don't lower it till you put it back together properly and see it first, it might be spot on!

Have some good simple plans for this after looking at it for a while... Have driven it a bit and it still goes really well, just idles and runs rough like it running on 3 cylinders. Pulled the spark plugs out and they are all burning clean and all look the same, it blows a bit of blue smoke on startup but none while under load, so me thinks its in the head and could possibly be fixable.... Got it stuck in diff lock mode the other day after testing to see if it worked...the dash light doesn't come on but the diff lock did...had to drive it home (very, very carefully) 3 k's through the 'burbs on bitumen...not much fun, lots of chirpie's!! Got it home and finally got it back into normal mode after playing with some wires and the switch, but the light still doesn't work. I need to wait two weeks to get a day off work to get it to Regency, so until then it will just get a good inside/out detail. original tool bag, tools are basically brand new.

It sure does... Saw you thismorning going from Cross road to Portrush, heard you go past giving it beans in 2nd - that KE20 sounds really nice when you're getting up it, and it looks fantastic! :jamie:

So it is...I'm a dumbass! Awesome, that makes sense... :jamie: The 7AFE sounds interesting (great motor), but in the interests of preserving the driveline I think I'll be sticking to the 4AFE with improved filtration and an exhaust for now...it seems to go fairly well as it is with the extractors and no compression in one cylinder! Cheers

I'm glad a couple people know the car I'm talking about... In all seriousness I won't be ringing the cops...if he doesn't fix it he'll get caught eventually anyway and yes, hopefully he will learn...but he could always just fix it and make it a bit closer to legal to avoid the chance of being defected, and as a considerate road user. No probs, my apologies...

No worries, you're entitled to your opinion as I am, and I'm not getting in an argument over it, but... This car is significantly louder than the majority of gates I've heard, and it's a constant noise which is very different. I wouldn't say I'm "traumatised" by the noise, more concerned about the potential impact it could have on RC or other responsible KE70/rolla drivers I don't think its disgusting at all...imagine the disgust of the poor people sitting behind him in the traffic, or the cyclists he drives past? mmm raw exhaust emissions.
  11. A golf clap to you sir, hope the guy got what was coming to him.

Luke, you have my official blessing to bitch-slap this kid if you see him again, at least tear the RC sticker off his car if there is one on there hahaha But yes I think a strongly worded note would be perfect - there are potential reprocussions for all of us if he does have an RC sticker on his car, and he might be surprised to know that cars actually go better with a properly sorted exhaust system. Name & Shame!!

I keep spotting a P-Plater driving a white dunger KE70 slant front going up Cross Road towards the freeway, it turns right from Fullarton road, mags on front, black stockies on back, and I have a message for him if he's on here. Put a goddamm exhaust on your car you nincompoop banana - your KE70 sounds like a piece of crap running whatever lame-ass excuse for an exhaust you have hanging under there. Seriously dude, it sounds like its coming straight out the extractors, is not only defectable and obnoxiously loud, but its bad for our environment. If I do see you again and happen to get your number plate, I'll have a good mind to dob you in because I like to drive with my window down and don't appreciate the sound of your poor 4K being thrashed to an inch of its life past my drivers window, perforating my eardrums in the process. Also, black stockies and big front wheels on a dunger KE70 just make it look like a defect mobile (if the cops actually pull your over I can personally GAURANTEE you will be defected), and unfortunately having black stockies on the back, big wide wheels on the front and no exhaust does not make your car a drift car. :P I've had my whinge, you have been warned. Usually I wouldn't give a shit, but this car seriously sounds like its running straight out the extractors and it hasn't changed in 4 weeks so I'm assuming you're quite happy with it the way it is. Fix it, or I'll get the fuzz to do it for you. I hope no-one thinks I'm being a prick or a grandpa for saying all this, but I'm over P-platers in KE70's giving the rest of us a bad name, particularly if there is a Rollaclub sticker on the car which there probably is. On a much more pleasant note, I've recently seen an L-plater driving an aqua KE26 (yes, KE26) wagon down Cross road with a small rust repair sedction in the front right guard, and it looks to be in very good order. Love the colour, love the car!

Does anyone know if this version of the 4AFE came out in other Australian Corolla's? Its obviously different to the AE101 4AFE as they are twincam, but did other AE9x Rolla's have this motor or was it just AE95's? Just wondering how hard it would be to find a low km import donk and whether its a specific AE95 motor or not...

Cheers yeah I'm pretty happy for the price! Was already thinking of the SX grille...wondcer what a colour coded SX front bar would look like? Anyway all that stuff is possible, but first things first need to fix the motor... More pics Extractors were a surprise inclusion! And, for good measure, my other recently aquired project. Original barn find - 1975 Kawasaki KH100 Sports, 5,800 original kilometres and 1 previous owner. 100cc 2 stroke ball tearing powerhouse, 5 speed all up gearbox!! Everything works and it runs sweet. Paid $775 with new oils, spark plug and brand new battery. All I've done is clean it and paint the head and barrel after a light hone and new rings, given in a major service and rebuilt the front suspension as well as greasing head-stem bearings which was quite a job. Needs two new tryes and rego, thats it. Want to keep it original and try not to put any new parts on - if it aint broke, don't fix it, plus its cool if I can say its completely original and I've just cleaned and serviced it. Was going to have it ready for Bay to Birdwood, but that will have to wait until next year now.

Very, very nice. I got a $325 KE11 from my Dad for my first car, but whatever haha...12 years ago mind you... Nah awesome ride man, keep it that way!

    My Ae95 Wagon

Well I got it home, and let me say after driving it 1 hour home I'm more than pleasantly surprised... :) ;) Its had one family (Tasmanian - these things are everywhere down there) owner since new and has original sales reciept and book, and original owners manual. Have been told it was serviced at the same place since new. As previously mentioned, the car is apparently very low on compression in one cylinder. It does idle rough and you can feel a misfire at cruising speeds, and it blew a heap of smoke when we first started it after sitting for 10 days apparently. But...it still accelerates smoothly and goes really well. I had no idea what to expect from these as I've never been in one...was expecting the 4WD to suck out a heap more power, but it revs and seems to love it :hmm: I'm blown away by how quick it is for the apparent engine problems, I'm thinking the 4AFE with induction and exhaust will be sufficient for my needs...I'm seriously stoked with the power of this thing. Anyway the body is abnormally straight, and the paint is excellent, but there are quite a few scratches many of which will polish out ok, some which can be touched up. Its good enough to not have to worry about respraying it for quite a while. It has extractors!! Wildcat brand (?), look reasonably newish Interior is as good as it looks in the photo's - no rips or tears, no cracks in the dash. Has a Pioneer Mosfet 4x50 deck and front speakers, no rear speakers connected but it seems to have factory looking ones hanging from the roof? Driveline seems excellent apart from a rear wheel bearing and possibly some sloppy uni's or CV's - it shudders a bit during accelerate/decelerate transitions, but all of that could be the motor...who knows. Brakes are good, steering is fine and shockers feel pretty good, and the tyres are good. The strangest thing of all is that it doesn't have A/C...must have been a base model... All up, not too bad for $750 I think. :P I wouldn't normally divulge price, but I reckon its shit hot for that. Yeah the stripe is in pretty good nick, I'm going to have a go at masking up and painting I reckon, I like the colour coding idea and hadn't thought of it, otherwise the chrome ones sounds like a great idea - thanks MYSTIK Scoobzd - thanks for the comments mate, looking forward to seeing your upcoming ride thread and may end up calling on you for some advice! seabuiscit - Yeah I used to, and kind of still do agree, but they have this potential about them and I've seen some well done ones on here which made me want it so bad when I saw it. They look like a Volvo X70 from the rear, and too much like the early tercels from side view - those things were the gave ugly a new meaning (sorry to any tercel owners). And yeah I may need to call on advice from a few people on how to tackle it if I do end up going the 20 Valve. Anyway, the immediate plan is to get to Regency for a numbers check, then get it registerd. I'll get a better diagnosis on the motor and see what it would cost to fix before I go getting quotes on 20 valves - I'm quite happy with the 4AFE power for the cars intended purpose, but 20V would be nice... More photos tomorrow when I have some light. Stoked? :(
  18. Great find, Raven...I love these things. Very much looking forward to seeing this when its finished! Wish I'd never sold mine, had a 38 windowless PV which I never started...
  19. Hi guys and gals, Well I could only go so long without owning a Corolla, although to be honest I didn't expect to be back in one so soon. I've always wanted one of these, and at the moment it will suit my lifestyle perfectly. '91 AE95 wagon, 5 speed, all wheel drive, has done close to 400,000 k's and has a stuffed motor but would appear to be very original and tidy otherwise, and is still registered (Tasmania) and driving. The colour is perfect for a set of wheels and tinted windows and interior looks very clean indeed. Picking it up tonight - haven't even seen it yet which I know is risky but considering the price and the multitude of good pictures on eBay I couldn't take the risk of someone else getting it. Plans: Tidy up, set of 16's, tint the windows, small cat-back exhaust, obviously fix the motor with either a low-k import 4AFE or possibly a 20V conversion, drive and enjoy. Oh yeah and get rid of the ghey red stripe and the towbar rack thingo. More pics once its actually in my posession...hopefully its as good as it looks! These are just the pics from eBay. Let me know what you all think :P
  20. Nice wags mate - looks to be a very nice original buy. Wagons rock :P
  21. Thanks Luke and Philbey for the replies. Yeah I guess I'm just scared off by getting the thing wired up and running properly...and yeah I'm aware that any quotes I get for a "drive in...drive out" coversion will be astronomically expensive. Luke - Adelaide Jap Dismantlers - any experience with them? I still need to suss out what is actually wrong with the 4AFE once I get the car home - I've been told it has 180 compression in two cylinders, 150 in one and 50 in another (presumed to be 3rd cylinder), runs rough but still drives.. It may be the case that I can get a relatively inexpensive rebuild on this motor, but seeing as the car has done close to 400,000kms I'm assuming the motor is probably toasted and there may be other issues other than lack of compression. And yes Philbey research will be the key, but I guess considering how cheap I got the car I'm not particularly fussed about blowing a possible 2-2.5K on a conversion if a) it's done properly and runs like it should and b) someone else can do all the hard work. I'm a lazy, lazy man.... As an aside, does anyone know if is this a simple engine number swap in SA at motor reg or do I need to go to regency?
  22. Hello all, I've picked up an AE95 wagon on the cheap :jamie: with a stuffed 4AFE motor (project thread coming soon). Always wanted one of these, but a bit more straight line poke would be great. Obviously I have several options for fixing the motor - replace the 4AFE with an low kms imported or (god forbid) exchange engine, rebuild existing motor which has no compression in one cylinder, or ditch the 4AFE and replace with a 20 Valve. :) Can anyone tell me roughly what is involved with 20V conversions into these cars? Are they a fairly simple plug'n'play type thing, or are there more substantial modifications that need to be made? What expenses other than the engine and getting it fitted am I likely to encounter? Can anyone recommend somewhere in Adelaide who would be qualified to do the work? I will be getting someone else to do the work (don't have the time), and will be using standard gearbox. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. ;) Cheers, Tom

How is the wagon, Ben? Hope she's treating you well! Yesterday, whilst sitting in my little upstairs office (the doom dungeon) I saw a stock looking dark blue KE70 sedan being followed by a stock looking light blue KE70 wagon, which wasn't overly out of the ordinary or exciting.....until I realised the wagon was being towed...by the sedan...with a rope!! :P Classic
  24. I'm glad its going to someone who's going to give it some love mate, although I'm already regretting selling it!! It should handle really well - my last 70 wagon had stock suspension but new shocks and 14" 200B stockies and it seriously handled amazingly - one of the most predictable handling cars I've ever driven, and they are very well balanced for a leaf-sprung wagon! All the best with it mate, you have officially rendered me Corolla-less...for the umpteenth time in my life!! I'm at least 5% less satisfied with life when I'm not driving a KE rolla! Cheers, Tom
