Spotted Benzo driving the 20 the other day - lookin sweet man! Saw a overrated gold XX KE70 very low with polished CSX wheels on it in hte Barossa a couple weeks ago - it was very very nice!! Bumped into a guy at U-Pull-It in Elizabeth today who is building a KE70 with a supercharged 4K and a tricked up KE70 auto trans!! I told him rollaclub is the BEST f@$kING FORUM AROUND :D and that he should join up. Also i'm noticing a lot of slammed 70's and 71's getting around adelaide lately - we seem to have shitloads of rolla drivers around here!!

Hi guys, I was at just wrecking Toyota's at Wingfield in Adelaide today and just asked the question about 7K motors. They said they are readily available complete with wiring loom etc for $750. Correct me if I'm wrong but that seems quite reasonable? Anyway I'm just putting it out there for everyone - hope this is helpful to someone. Question regarding KE70 tacho dash... I found 2 nice low kilometre ones with digital clocks in auto KE70's at U-Pull-It in Elizabeth (they have a dozen KE70's and AE71's). Will a tacho dash with digital clock from an auto KE70 go straight into my manual KE70 with it's big ugly clock? Are the tacho wires (and power for the digital clock) already there in a non-tacho dash KE70? Would appreciate any advice... Cheers, Tom

That, my friend, is nothing short of sex on wheels! Watanabes + stripes looks amazing! :fuzz: Good work! Its great to see an early KE20 done up - you don't see many around and lots of people don't like that rear end. My only quibble is that exhaust.... you have many other better looking and less cop-baity :lolcry: options - twin side by sides (straight cut or chrome tipped) pointed slightly down and on an angle, dumpy, hidden dumpy with fake pea shooter welded on, straight out 2 1/2 inch steel always looks good on a 20, anything.....anything but a canon. But great work nonetheless :bash:

Cars name: Whitey-McSlide KE70 sedan Build date: 2/82 Vin: 9 711 114 Yay for mobile phone camera sepia effects! Also, in reference to trd's oldest KE70 (8/79), did they make KE70's in 1979? I thought they were only 1982 onwards... :lolcry: Information welcomed!

haha yeah it's not their worst - I saw a white 1979 Corona with two tone pastal green interior recently - vomit!! Cheers man, can't remember what those townace stockies look like, i'll find out. Apparently old Volvo 14" is the same stud pattern as corolla's? I've seen some old police stocky style volvo wheels which would look sweet on it! Anyway got bored today so my mate and i cut and welded 3 Inches out of the shifter, dodgy but effective! You can't see it but...yeah...horrible welding :lolcry: Before... goofy and sloppy After... looks cool, feels cool, original 5-speed knobs are awesome! Feels much nicer, hopefully the weld holds... :fuzz:

Haha cheers man yeah i'm getting used to the blue, it's grown on me... Ok so I'm on Uni holidays now so hopefully i can start on this thing properly! I had my mechanic look at uni joints, centre bearing etc - I've got vibrations in 1st and 2nd gear which are worse when it's loaded up with stuff or people... and some backlash somewhere which is annoying me... He said the uni's were all ok, centre bearing was ok and diff backlash was normal and not excessive or too noisy. Then when we were doing the tappets the other day I gave the motor a wobble to find out that i possibly have a weak or broken engine mount - it moves towards the passenger side quite a bit by just lifting from the dizzy side. I'm pretty sure this is part of the problem but not sure if this would cause vibrations though? Other than that the timing chain is very rattly on startup...cut springs and old shockers are very bumpy and annoying for sliding...clutch feels old and near-death. It's had a polish, some new gearbox and diff oil, brakes bled, interior tidying and thats about it... Want to get the air-con re-gassed soon to see if it still works. Then it's time for suspension rebuild, rebuild the 4K or buy one already done, and do the body in-between... oh and i finally degreased the engine bay... and the shadow on my back seat of the essential addition to any rolla... Hopefully lots more to come soon

Greetings all, We see lots of photos of awesome Corollas on here which we all love, but I've been thinking... :hmm: ...they're all stationary! So I thought how about a page dedicated to photos (and video links) of Corolla's in action...doing what they do best! I'm talking drifting, motorkhana, rally, burnouts, paddock bashing and even AE model reverse donuts if we have to :lolcry: !! Whatever floats your boat, so long as its a Toyota Corolla and its moving or smoking! Some ideal examples to get things started...the birth of Corolla racing in KE10's in Australia What does everyone think? Cheers, Tom

Hey man i think whoever bought it created a project thread on here for it, i remember seeing scotts ad for it on rollaclub too. Look through the archives and you might find it who it was... Sweet, sweet KE20 that was... :lolcry: :hmm:

Cheers mate i did try that but i'll try again - i'm guessing u gotta pull pretty hard...

Hi all, How the hell do you get the back seats out of a KE70? It doesn't say in the Gregory's manual and I don't have an original owners manual Some clown put 6x9's in the parcel shelf without scewing them in or cutting the holes properly :) , what a pain in the ass! Plus i like to be able to take the lower back seat out to fit more of my guitars/amps etc in. Any info appreciated Cheers, Tom

Haha yeah back in the day... i miss all my old rollas! Was also wondering whether this is still around? Rego number was WAE 289 Had a low km import 4K, king springs, etc. Sold it with crappy rusted csx wheels though, not with the 14's. Can't really remember any other distinguishing features...tan interior...cut shifter...4 speed... Would have been sold in '03 or '04 maybe also from the Barossa valley... Anyone seen it?
-
Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone on here ended up with either of these two cars... They were both sold from the Barossa Valley * The KE11 because i just want to know if it's still around - I have many fond memories of that car! I miss it :hmm: * The KE20 because it is still registered in my name after 6 years... Scanned photos so I apologise for picture quality The KE11 It was a white KE11, number plate RBK 537. It had a 4K, chrome mazda RX4 wheels, tacho dash, black interior and a small chrome exhaust tip. The body was pretty rough but i don't remember it having heaps of rust... I sold it roughly in 1998 or 99 to a guy who lived up in Happy Valley i think. I think he did a fair bit of work to it... The only distinguishing features other than what i mentioned were probably the right hand rear guard - it had been mashed and very poorly beaten out to resemble a straight one. And obviously the chrome strips had been taken off (not by me) and the holes bogged. Badly. I would love to know what happened to this thing and if it is still alive! The KE20 Number plate SGP 522. 3K, black dump tip, black RX4 wheels with chrome trims on the front two, black interior. Had big rust in front guards, blew heaps of smoke and had rooted front suspension I sold this in around 2001 to someone who lived in the Gawler area and it is still registered in my name, would love to know why! ;) I would appreciate any info that anyone might have :) Cheers, Tom

This thread rocks! :) I've been searching through my archives but haven't found anything good yet... Keep 'em coming lads!

Mate and I got bored today... 2 coils out of each corner - probably could have done with just 1 and 1/2 but it's too late now... :D Haha :)
-
Cool! Can't wait to see this KE10 at BV toyota - might just have to go see it this week anyway! I have bought myself a rolla - KE70, should be lowered by the cruise and maybe with whitewalls...see how i go I know about that KE30 - it's Rammy, it used to be GReen with a worked 5K in it, should be pretty sweet! Anyway i'll be in contact soon a pic of the new beast, project thread here on rollaclub...

Hey KJ, How are you? Still driving that 55? What about those KE50's u got? Anything happening with them? Hows your dad going with all those Ke10/11 parts I sold him? Has he put my old shell to any use yet? I'm definately keen for this BBQ/Cruise - we better make sure we take these city folk on some of our finest Barossa roads - Menglers Hill and back thru Angaston a must! Son many options... Let me know if there is anything i can do to help, Cheers, Tom

Hey man awesome ride! These things are certainly getting very rare and yours looks to be in pretty good nick! I'm sure i speak for everyone when i say more pics! More info! Future Plans? Miles on the clock etc etc I've only ever seen one of these in the flesh and it was completely rooted from top to bottom! All i can say is don't crash it - i wouldn't imagine doors are very easy to come by!
-
Couldn't stand those white wheels so got busy today and painted them up... Also two new matching headlights, thanks Nickboy! Also polished chrome trims and centre caps (they look kinda cool even though they're monstrously large!), painted wiper blades, calipers, brake drums, grill badge... Goin for that factory sleeper look for the time being, cut springs and whitewalls should see to that!! Should've washed it before i painted the wheels... Sweet...

Ok so i've taken the 5K stuff off my post, unfortunately the tax system is screwed and my accountant didn't see it coming. I've now got a $850 tax bill and he told me i was getting a return of roughly the same amount. :D :D So no more 5K.... for now Still on the cards are cut springs as soon as we get a spare couple hours... then whitewalls straight after that Gotta get rid of that rust in the boot - left it out in the rain last night and there was shitloads of water in the boot :D So i'll probably just slowly fix little dents, rust spots (not much to do!) and surface rust patches over the next few months then look forward to a respray early next year. Will put pics up as soon as shit happens... To get me and others motivated, here are some of my old rollas just for fun.... Missing KE36 wagon, KE70 wagon and AE101R First car - KE11 for $325, did a great deal of burnouts and rally driving (grew up in the Barossa VAlley) It's probably still around somewhere is SA... My $200 KE20, also good for many burnout and rally drives. Found out yesterday it's still in my name which is wierd - sold it in 2001!!! $50 KE70 from my cousin - I've got a set of these 14" 200B wheels which i got for free! Still kickin i hope!! My 100kw SX Seca - fun while it lasted but it wasn't no KE... Would have had a rebuild by now - rings were f@$ked when i sold it My sorely missed KE11 got smashed up the arse by a government car after an 18 month rebuild. Kinda lost interest for a while after that... Currently sitting in some dudes shed all smashed up with some amazingly good parts on it... Also my briefly owned Mazda Capella in the background! And one more of the new beast... Wish i still had all of them.....
-
Thanks man, yeah it should be good fun! Might get some twin jugs for it depending on how strong the motor actually is, but as i've said it's a UNI student car so budget is very low...
-
That's awesome man thankyou very much! I'll be interested to find out compression ratio etc after i put it in... Haha yeah two is much better i would imagine... I don't know much about webers - are these commonly used on K series motors? Are they a decent carby? The guy has just had the carby rebuilt and re-jetted for this motor, and the dyno tune was quite recent. It had an awesome growl, plenty of induction noise and felt good at high revs although the car (a track car KE30 getting a 4AGE) the motor was in didn't have a tacho, so i'm not sure how high i revved it... Anyway this will be my first KE rolla with more than an exhaust and my first 5-speed KE - I'm already grinning my arse off but i'll be absolutely ear-to-ear in a couple months when motor/lower/whitewalls are done... Ooh Update!! I asked my mate today (he's got a couple killer HB Torana's and he's doing up an LC GTR) "How many cartons of beer would i have to buy you to help me do the bodywork and practice your spray painting skills on my car before you do the GTR?" His answer: "Mate I'd do it for the pleasure of it". So this is on the cards in the next 6-8 months... Awesome :)
