Thanks for the opinions guys and yeah forgies prob will be over the top like I said I just want something that has a bit of get up and go when I need it just want to focus on reliability more than power if I wanted power I wouldn't bother with a 4k I don't give my rolla hard time and being an apprentice mechanic last thing I want to be doing is spending money and time after work fixing stuff I've broken so mite look into those ACL or just get standard ones Thanks for the time and help guys ξ€Ž

Ok so if I understand right 5k engine from what I've been told is basically a 4k with a longer stroke so I can understand being able use 5k pistons but what difference is there are the pistons altezza club mentioned standard 5k pistons or after market ones? Or I can go custom forgies as kickn5k has mentioned and can understand not posting where you work even mates knowing where you work can be a bad thing I learnt that the hard way

What are you planning for the motor?? 4k bottom end 3kBP head mild cams and a side draft and I want run som good comp pistons Just want my 30 to be a bit zippy So I thort I'd ask before I start ringing our parts blokes and get recommended pistons buy some one who has no idea I do! I'm interested

Being an old girl if the oil is to thin it will burn especially if she worn out but also depends on how you drive if you rev the ring out of it you will probably burn oil aswell So that's why you go with the heavier oil 5-w30 is more a brand new mecedes/BMW oil because newer cars these days run lower clearance and tolerances in the engine you need to run the lighter oil And 20 w50 is dirt cheap anyway I think you can buy it for 30-50 bucks non trade for 5 liters anyway which is a bonus
  7. 5-30 you will probably burn it all before you leave the drive way 20 w50 castrol/repsol will be your best option and sparks NGK BP5EYA if I remember correctly and maybe get a set of leads and check your cap and points for corrosion Brake shoes steer away from DBA I've pulled new DBA'S out of a box and the old shoes had more meat on them Hope that helps ξ€Ž

Hey guys wanna get some new window and door seals for my ke have seen some on eBay just wondering if anyone has used them and if they are anygood or anywhere in Sydney that may do them I don't mind paying good money the guy we use to use at work isn't around anymore And most places I ring just ask me WTF is a ke rolla or it's to old Any help appreciated guys

The flanges that bolt to the diffs are different i know that I'm just not sure about the gearbox end because the ke70 k40 has the longer extention housing with the shifter further back I was just wondering if that has any affect because the 4 door is in pieces at home and I don't want to take the 2door to work and have it stuck on a hoist in case the tail shaft doesnt fit the k50

Ok guys just want some info I have 2 ke30's 1) 2door 3k k40 out of ke30 jap diff 2) 4door 3k k40 out of a ke70 borgy diff I have a k50 out of a ke55 and want to put the borgy diff in The 2door will the tail shaft fit the 55 5 speed or will I have to change the yoke from the jap diff to the borgy tail shaft or is there no difference between the out put shafts on the gearboxes I hope I have made sense

Your supposed to load it up so the rings don't put a mirror finish on your brand new scored bores the grooves from bore honing hold oil on the walls which obviously helps lubricate them if they were smooth the rings would work like a squeegee So like oh what a Nissan feeling said load her up a hill it's what we do with our engines at work
  12. Ok just wasn't sure if the valve train was any different in the heads Got everything but the carby can't find them on there own every one sells them with the manifold and I already have one And simple is why I bought a ke no computer bullshit and so easy to work on

I was definately going to go the 4k but wasnt sure bout the whole head swap Thing tried askin my boss cuz he's been working on cars since they had square wheels in the stone age but he diddnt know enough about the k motors he is more of a 253 308 commonwhore kinda guy Gettin the head cleaned up is no biggy the bloke we use at work is doin it for me dirt cheap But just out of curiosity why does the 3k head go better on a 4k than the original head And thnks for the info much appreciated

Hey guys tried to read up on these engines but haven't found any Info on what I'm thinking of doing I'm going to build an engine for my ke30 2door and I have a 3k-c 3k-h and 4k-c at my disposal Basically ill be doing mild cam upgrade pistons upping the compression and i have redline manifold for a side draft I'm unsure of 3k small and big ports and have seen people argue about putting them on 4k blocks or weather they are a good combination I'm not going for earth shattering power I just love the old rollas just want to have some more get up and go Any info is appreciated cheers
