  1. The heating of any suspension or steering components is illegal so i would check it out before taking it to an engineer. Also unless you know how to weld PROPERLY i wouldnt do it there is to much that can weaken welds if you don't do it right. Sorry to burst your bubble
  2. Any more pics? Is that an AE82 front bumber on it? It looks good, nice work.
  3. The head isnt warped i had it machined. Its all good now though, still don't know what was wrong though.
  4. Thanks Nick. My car has blown two head gaskets in three days. Its fine for the moment but just wanted to check that this wasnt a reason for it.
  5. If you don't put extractors on and you have a cam and a webber what will happen?
  6. Haha yeh we bent mine back until they sent it out aswell
  7. Hotwires
  8. Thanks for all your help but Toyota sent the right one yesterday. Third time lucky, they have the worst system for ordering parts.
  9. They are dished pistons and i have hydraulic lifters. Thanks.
  10. Hey all, I bent a pushrod in my 5K and I'm having a fair bit of trouble locating a new one. Toyota keep sending out the wrong one and the wreckers don't seem to be able to help. The pushrods in my 5K are roughly 15cm long. Firstly is this the right size that should be in a 5K and if it is why is toyota struggling to GET IT RIGHT. I would also like to know if all K motors have the same size pushrods and if anyone is Sydney has a pushrod that they think will suit or if anyone knows where i should look for one I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Mitch.
  11. The fronts on the KE can be changed. I have an '83 model with the '84 front. The gearboxes in the KE are different to the ones in the AE. The KE 5spd is K50 and the AE 5spd is T50. There is many little differences between the two cars including; Pedal Box Crossmembers Dash and i believe the AE is slightly longer than the KE What do you want to do with the car?
  12. TLC? Is it rooted or what. Old Toyota motors are a piece of piss to fix. Ring around and get quotes on what you want done. But i recommend Evan Cox Automotive Technology. Hes a nissan specialist but he is really honest and knows a heap about old cars. He has rebuilt a lot of old motors as he has old Jags and Mustangs.
  13. Removing the thermostat is definately overkill. 1. Turn the heater in the car to HOT 2. Disconnect the bottom heater hose 3. Put the garden hose is the heater hose and turn it on as hard as you can without it popping off 4. Blow out as much of the water you have just sprayed through the system as you can 5. Leave the heater hose of and poor coolant into the radiator until it starts coming out of the heater tap as green 6. Put the heater hose back on and top up the system 7. Warm the car up and check coolant/water level don't forget to give your over flow bottle a quick flush aswell and don't forget to set the heater to hot.
  14. He was filming a documentary called Deadly Sea Creatures. I thought it was just some stupid rumour going around school but was shocked and saddened to find that it was true. RIP
  15. Have you finished yet????
  16. Engine. . . . . . . Is. . . . . . . . . . Running, shit, but running. Its running way to rich, doesnt idle as a result, there is a massive exhaust leak and there is a huge flat spot in the carby but already it run 100 times better than the 4K. Anybody contemplating a 4K to 5K swap. . . . . . DO IT!!!
  17. Why say something like that. . . . . I'm not stupid.
  18. AE71 corolla. Its nearly the same as an Aus spec sprinter so it has the T50 in it (if its manual). Get a spirit if you can, they are fairly rare but worth looking for.
  19. Thanks NickZ. I will let you all know how it goes in the morning.
  20. Nice work mate. Love the colour, whats next?
  21. All fresh lines. There is a little bit of fuel in the filter but not much. We didnt really try for very long. Should it pump through as the motor cranks? There was no fuel in the lines to start but there is fuel in the tank.
  22. Hey, I went to start my engine for the first time today and i can't get fuel to the carby. Its a 32/36, i can't even get fuel to the filter. Whats the problem with it? Help will be appreciated. Mitch. PS i checked the forum already and couldnt find anything
  23. Off topic, but Nick what does FTW mean?
  24. If you can get them tomorrow without to much effort that would be sweet Robert. But i will just put 3.4L in it n see if it goes up to full on the dipstick i have.
