so do you still wanna sell the 32/72?? been waiting for a PM. :D

my rolla has run 17.6 with a weber being the only mod, then at tassie nats ran 17 flat on 6psi. at a guess I reckon 10psi on the switch would get about 16.5.

funny!!!!! it was bloody scary, as it happened on the top of david street in launy!!! it was raining and I had cars banking up behind me and couldn't move. ended up pushing off the side of the road with a guy out of the car behind me with the back wheels locked. could have been way worse though if i was doing 50kmh half way down the hill, instead of about 15kmh at the top. I have no hesitation in saying I would have written it off, and possible some other cars too! :)

:) clutch was to blame not the engine!!! The bad thing people hear about rotaries are not normal anything wrong with the engines themselves its the dick heads that own then and do not know how to maintain then. ie, running them out of oil.

get yourself a set of series 4 or 5 rx7 4 spot calipers. they are available on ausrotary.com for around $250-$350 for discs and caliper. or also check ebay. they are also 5 x 114.3 so they will match the hilux rear. I am just in the process of doing this conversion on my rx4, and it would be the same to put the on a rolla I reckon. basically what you do is take the standard corolla hubs off and put them in a lathe, machine of the disc and maybe abit of the out hub to make the s4-5 discs fit over (floating hubs, ie disc gets held in place by the wheel bolted on). re-drill the corolla hub to 5 x 114.3. and the make up some steel adapter plates to mate the caliper on the standard corolla caliper spot. just did a quick ebay search for you, this is only the caliper though, you could always buy new slotted/vented DBA's anyway. :) http://cgi.ebay.com.au/USED-FC3S-RX7-FRONT...1QQcmdZViewItem

OH..............MY................GOD!!!!!!!!!! and some people think that my set up is dodgy!! thats not a back yard setup, its a farm yard!!!:) If I was thinking about buying this I would offer the guy $200 tops as most of the stuff there would be usable to change it to a blow through: use that turbo, but make up a new j-pipe (from the manifold to the turbo flange) and relocate it to the same position as mine and bosst+k's. get a 90 degree pipe made up with a flange for the intake manifold were the carby goes standard, and make it so that it GOES OVER BOTH HOLES, not just 1 like how the farmer has done it. :) piss off the air reserculation shit on the manifolds by cutting the pipe near the exhaust manifold and welding it. for the other end it would probably just be easier to get a ke3x-ke5x intake manifold. I've got 1. You'll have to make or find a suitable "box" to goover the front of the carb and then plumb the it up to the turbo. I would probably also look at modifying the waste gate area by removing that round plate and have a screamer type pipe that pumps back into the exhaust. it would be pretty damn restrictive like that, as the gas coming through the gate has to make 2 90 degree turns before it can get out of the compressor housing. As for the oil lines, they're already done for you, but you'll just need to take them to the other side of the engine. Might also want to replace the spark plugs from heater water lines too! :) to change to this setup you would also need to spend a few dollars on the fuel setup, re-read previos posts for this. also lock up the dizzy to stop it blowing head gaskets if it hasn't already been done. :) provided the actually engine is all good, i think $200 would be alright. :)

this is my pride and joy, still got it. 13b bridgy that i had built about a year ago (used to be a large extend), slowly doing stuff to make hear quicker and quicker, last drag meet I broke out with a 14.3 @ about 150kmh. in the next few months will have new 13b rx4 4.44 diff (currently has a 12a 3.9) with discs, s4 rx7 front brake upgrade, new gear box, lightened flywheel, new clutch, and a repray. :)

good luck with the swap!! everyone wants a 5 speed, and I highly doubt someone will want to go backwards to a 4 speed. I found a bit of info while trying to find a clutch last week. clutches are available for corollas in 19 ans 21 spline for the input shafts. the earlier ke3x - ke5x boxs are the 19 splines and I assuming the 21 splines are the "ke70 type" mentioned above. the ke70 5 speed boxs also have the shifter a bit further back so you would have to do a bit of trans tunnel "modification" :)

that be me, 1300junkie I presume?? So you though you better migrate here as "no-one cares about corollas on an rotary forum"! :) just put a reply in that post. :)

ahhhh it was you!!!! :) I put a couple of bids on that, I was the one that bumped it up to about $50, and your auto bets kept beating me!! GGGR shoulda went $60 :) so you gunna spend a few bob on it and re-build it tough??

hahahaha, yeah that was me roids!! we were just unloading the RA45 celica that has finally got back from re-spray. thats the car the has the 1g that I have got the turbos off, it had a 1g conversion in 1992 (the year that the 1g sourers were released!!!) Its the other car accessory installs demo car (theres the mercedes vito aswell), will be back are car show soon hopefully with another bigger and better stez. btw, could you get any further out the window when you came past!? :) Killswitch- drive train is up to the turbo challenge. I have actually just blown a gear box, but that is due to the load put on it by the welded diff, not the extra torque and power. as far as diffs and axles, I have only had problems with this due to the weldy aswell. I've have only had minimal clutch slip from my 26 year old stocko clutch, but that was at the drag way after trying to set the boost controller (was spikikng like 15psi), but that was only cause it was getting really hot, havn't had a drama since. however since I have the engine and gear box out of the car at the moment and the clutch only has about 3-4mm befor the rivvets I should be picking up my RPM heavy duty clutch today from Rip-Every-Poor-c**t-Off for $127 trade price. this way clutches are never going to be a problem for me again. :) Please do go back through a few pages of this thread and have a good read as I have already put heaps of info. there is 1 post with a whole heap of linked pics, thats got heaps in it. just don't wanna have to type it all again. But if you don't understand anything feel free to fire some questions. ;) sounds like an alright buy though for the price. All up now with the full exhaust, boost controller, etc etc mine has cost me about $600, but the thing you need to remeber is I also spent about 100 hours of my own time on it. no mechanics did anything.

in over 2 years of having a weldy with a couple of trips to the drags, countless burnouts, drift, turboed engine, and my driving :lolcry: I've only even broken 1 axle!! and I've busted the welds about 3 times!! the only time I have broken an axle (10:45pm the friday night befor tassie nats :) ) I wasn't doing anything stupid, just a couple of blocks, didn't even here it go, first thing i knew floored it and it broke traction in the dry and i knew straight away what had happened. never heard of the sikaflex idea. ;) can understand the idea behind it, as it would have a bit of flex in it for corners, but would still skip say when doing a U turn. honnestly though I can't really see it lasting much more than a day befor the sun gears chew away enough sikflex for it to open wheel again. best option i think for a weldy is the cut out a thick steel plate (very least 5mm), cut some teeth holes in it so it will sorta drop into the sun gears and then weld it in. this way if the welds break the plate will re-jam in the sun gears. mind you I did once have this plate jam in the friggen CW and P. :)

hehe three little letters.......C....I.....G!! :)

I think just getting in there and having a go with no idea what you are doing is a really good way to learn.:P wouldn't mind trying to find some REALLY cheap or free stuffed box's to rebuild now.

Who Know's How To Make Adjustable Strut Tops?
Taz_Rx replied to Raven's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
k-mack stut tops are only about $200 a set. other option is just redrill the top of the strut towers further into the engine bay. these are the k-macks in my rx4. basically all they are is 2 rings, 1 above, 1 below. the lower one has the bolts in it. the brass plate you can see is what attaches to the top of the strut. it is a round plate with the corner cut out of it (you can see one of the cut corners). this allowes you to be able to move the plate around the bolts. the rest of that brass plate gets sandwiched between the lower and upper rings to hold it in place. so.......you could probably pretty easily make a set out of your standard strut tops. NOTE - just remembered corollas have 3 bolts here, so rather than cutting the corners out, you would need to cut "V's" in the standard strut tops were the bolts are. (cut the bolts out) then its just a matter of cutting 2 suitable sized rings for the above and below, attaching some bolts to the lower one (a tack weld on the bottom of it would do) and then bolt it all together!! :P I think I might actually have a look at doing this to my car, cause it really would be easy, might even look into making for anybody else that would be interested!!?? -
I have a couple of sets of rx4 calipers if you're interested. would probably be quite easy to make up an adapter plate to mount them on the standard discs, or maybe on a slotted RDA etc, this way you could also retain your standard stud pattern and not have to get new wheels. fit easily under 13" too. would only be looking at about $150 for both, located in Launy. let me know if you're interested.

yep, that'll do it. I know it sorta a different kettle of fish, but with my turbo 4k, I run a locked dizzy set on about 20o advance at idle. what this effectively does is lower the compression on the top end when on boost. I have done this rather than de-comping the engine. at one stage i had a an unlocked dizzy in it with the turbo, and it constsantly blew head gaskets! :P

I would have taken a whole heap of photos while doing it if I had of thought of it. :P

After blowing my second gear box early last week, I decided to try and make 1 good gear box out of 2 stuffed ones. we pulled them apart on the week end, the box i just blew only had 2/3 of the teeth left on a couple of gears and the other one had a bent shaft through the smaller solid gear set. so it took me about 5 hours last night by myself to put it back together, the hardest thing was getting all the little syncro engagement slides into place :P . I ended up trying to put it together about 3 times and would have to pull it all down again and start again. anyway, I felt quite proud of myself when I was all done, cause i had no idea how to rebuild a gear yesterday morning, now this morning I could do it blindfolded!! ;) has anybody ever tryed to rebuild on of these befor??

4K-ZC! :P
-
boost+k, try pulling some timing back out of it a bit. thats what makes mine blow head gaskets!!
-
its not the size of the wheels/tyres that are a problem, its the offset. I run 205's on 13's most of the time. corolla's has a +20 offset. the wheels you are trying to fit are more than likely a +38/+42 FWD offset wheel. do they hit the struts when you try and put them on the front???

oh nasty! :P umm, so that dear was on a PRIVATE ROAD right!?
