  1. 100% agree with that
  2. Thanks bud, most old cars rust here, dust gathers, add water and you get mud which makes rust. Only weld small amounts at a time, I'm using a tig and doing 5-10mm at a time and then cool it with an air nozzle on the compressor. If you use a mig do the same but do a series of tacks so you don't blow a hole. Also tack the panel every 5-10mm before any welding, it's only thin and doesn't take much heat to move the panel
  3. Come up pretty good
  4. Tacked one panel in last night, think I'll get away with not much bog
  5. I've had a very long break from the car, family health issues and I bought a boat and went crazy on it but back to 4 wheels now. I've been dreading this bit so I've jumped straight into it..... Yep.... Rust repairs. Luckily this is all the rust in the whole car
  6. Sorry mate I didn't understand that comment Got the threads welded into the seat mounts yesterday, bit of painting and tacked the mounts back in. Made up all my gussets tonight and tacked them in. There's nothing left to go in the cage now which I am very pleased about, my brother is going to use his brilliant tig welding skills to finish it off for me tomorrow, hopefully he gets it all done and I can paint it on saturday
  7. Thanks guys ???? Last bar went in tonight, 4 threaded sleeves to go in tomorrow then just the gussets to go, if all goes to plan it will be welded up on Friday and painted on saturday
  8. Seat support in for driver seat, passanger side to go and then there's no more bars, very keen
  9. Thanks bud, got a rally car to do next
  10. Thanks Craig, look a bit better now that they're trimmed, second seat mount hoop is in too
  11. Got a start on some gussets today
  12. Putting a brace from the cage to the seat mount, there will be a small foot tacked under the front but it will only be to stop any flex while driving, it will brake away from the floor in an accident. Shoulder bar is in
  13. Thanks, I just realised yesterday that it's coming up on 6 months since I started the cage, time flys. Thank god it's nearly done
  14. Got my seats and harnesses, laser cut mount plates, bent up mounting rail and the driver seat I mounted tonight, very happy now
  15. The cage is now one with the car, just waiting on material delivery and some laser cutting for my seat mounts
  16. Oh the joys of tig welding cages, almost done
  17. Alright, the cage is just about done, all that's left to do is seat mounts and gussets and the cage can get painted along with the rest of the interior
  18. Got some rear bars in tonight, 4 more to go
  19. Yeh I am, as soon as I sprayed the A pillars I clicked haha, didn't paint the bars at least, emry mop will clean it up for welding in no time
  20. Not quite as much as I was hoping to get done today but still very happy, the entire front half of the cage is welded up (everything pictured), painted all the tops of the cage and anywhere else inaccessible with everything in place, 9 straight bars to go in the back next then the seat mounts and sheet gussets
  21. Bit of cage work today, harness bar has threaded sleaves, all bars have been fully welded, front legs will be finished Sunday hopefully then try and get all the rear bars done
  22. Strut leg notched up for the right hand side
  23. Got all my other jobs out of the way... Mostly.... I've now bent up the legs through the firewall to the strut towers. I'll be fitting them up ASAP and the getting to the rear half of the cage
