Ke30 Ke55 Disk Brake Brembo's Ebay
TheNOBBLER replied to shauns ke30's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
I ran slotted solid disks on my torana waaaay back, they made a difference but nothing compared to quality pads. I broke some cross drilled and slotted ones pretty quickly( try 6 weeks!). The slotted disks warped a little less than the std ones as well but not by much. All depends on how hard you are on the disks but if you want wank factor go cross drilled but don't lean on them to hard! Back to the original topic, as parot pointed out, you may end up with the same brand disks for bugger all of the price going local. If you want it to stop, upgrade to bigger slotted disks, if your happy with it mow just throw some new disks and great pads at it, you won't believe the difference. JP -
I'm pretty sure SamQ is gearing up to make these, at least the engine mounts. Shoot him a pm? JP

Agreed, much less mucking around if you get them to fit it too, we do it pretty cheaply so I can't see other trimmers charging too much for a baby 11. And you can have any colour you want then.

I agree leeroy... Your commos going to need a bigger shed with the size of the motor your putting into it ... At least it will think it's big with the amount of power it puts out  Well, the 'goons off the road for a front end rebuild, it's time to go disks on the front and ford stud pattern for some more wheel choice, even if I do love the ones on it! Once she's driving again it will be time to get the snail happening. Can't wait... But I have too :) I have to get the 11 built fir gor5! JP

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Mopar goodness  Will have to keep my eye out next time I'm all the way over that side of the city... And keep your eyes peeled for my ap5 goon :) http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=36136 JP

Sounds like a great trip but I sadly can't make it... And I don't have a rolla or even the wags on the road at the moment, would be a boring trip in the commo! Make sure you lot get plenty of pics!

And for that I would always run blowthrough. I have had some rather interesting times putting out enginebay fires from my old draw through turbo setup. It's just not worth it, even whenthere running well they don't run as well as a blow through setup ( and they don't run as well as efi for that matter). The weber will run really well with excelent throttle response in blow through form. If your keen you can intercool it as well. You will however need a decent sized intake plenum ontop of the carb to dull the pulsing that a rooted style blower creates (an intercoolerer actually helps here) and a decent fuel system to get it running right. It can get pretty complicated if you let it and if you want it done right. But if your happy to live with a compromise I can see a draw through system working for you. You will still need to update the fuel system, make your pipework etc, will probably run alright. Just don't expect a reliable monster :lolcry: One last thing, if your going to muck around making mounts and the like, go an sc14. It gives you room for upgrades later on, you can spin it slower yo create the same amount of boost as an sc12 and you will have lower intake charge temps. You should really get either of the blowers modified for more rotor clearance when running drawthrough though, the crearances are quite tight and over time running furl through it will cause it to fail... Been there done that... You might get 6 months out of it or 6 years, depends on the blower. Hope that info makes sense! Pm kickn5k for some more info too, stu has a wikd blown efi intercooler and VERY camy 5k in his ke11... Lots of fun ;) JP

Is he a trimmer or just someone having a crack at making them? Just a thought. JP

Curly, do you have any more info or pics of that early girl? JP

I'm keen to rep the Vic section... But it's a bit hard to fit my car on the plane! I get into town Friday morning so this would be a good chance for me to meet up with some nt members, should be good. JP
-
And I'm not... Can't make it again this month, flat out going crazy at home :bash: It's about time I became a paid up member too! Have a good night!

Seems it really helps being in the auto industry, I have my exhaust done at Highpoint mufflers ( absolute guru), my twin system on the wags only cost me $450 including tips and is a work of art. Just tell him I sent you or it gets expensive! JP

It's about time for an update... But I don't really have one... Been away and blah blah blah. What I can tell you is the date that was put forward (end of June) isn't looking good, it's Vic school holidays so everywhere I've phoned has been booked up for our size of accom. Our only way around that is to camp out, plenty of camp sites that time of year! We could just let everyone make there own plans for where to stay that night if this suits or we could do it later and have a group booking. And no... The 11 won't be ready for the trip :( JP

Well, it lasted much longer than I thought it would! I wonder why they wanted a pic of the new owner... Lol did it go with the wheels on it?
-
It's coz your soft stu :D Actually I hear you've had it out more this year than you have in the last two! Good work! I need to cruise over your way for a blat!

Talk about getting me going Gav, that's pretty much where my 11 is heading this year although it needs more work than yours. Coming along nicely, loving the pics. Got me all inspired :D JP

I missed those posts, sorry! Yeah, Mel wasn't... And still isn't to impressed. And you can't forget that she still didn't know about it when I went on the GOR trip! Had some interesting conversations! All in all it went... Ok... I think... But it's staying :) Haven't had time (or a place) to work on it but it won't be long. I have new wheels for it, the dash is currently being reworked and well, that's it at the moment. Will get it running properly with the single carb on it shortly and build my exhaust. Should be fun :) JP

I figure if it gets to cold and were snowed in or something well just have to bring our the schnaps to warm us up :) Really though, it is a bit of a gamble weather wise but that will just make it more interesting yeah? It's hard enough to get a good weekends weather fir the GOR Trip! But we certainly make do with what we get. Driving wise, I know were all sensible, but I know we like to play. There will be time for that :)

now I'm just confused! Mr Tate, post away! ;)

Ok, had a good look at the page on organising the cruise. There are alot of forums and clubs with members attending, this seems to be an event that will have a police presence encouraged (a good thing), is being organised with help from local councils and will be held in a large public place with enough room for about 500 cars. It is also a major fundraiser with an entry fee of $20, this will keep the riff raff away and hopefully raise quite alot of money. Ok, as for an RC representation... Sure, be good, be responsible and all should be good. But if you f@$k up and get caught, well... This as Roosa has pointed out is a very touchy subject. It's actually for a good cause, but if things go stupid it will only make things worse. I don't think I will be attending, not because I don't want to but because I think I will be away when there planning on having it. So, Rollaclub itself most likely won't be putting there name on it, but that doesn't mean our members can't go. Just be good! JP

It's looking as though this will be a weekend trip over the last weekend of June this year. Being the first run a public holidays notneeded, the snow season hasn't cranked right up and the roads will be clear. Mind you, a bit of snow would be sweet! The only thing is you legally have to carry snow chains up on the high country but we may be able to let it go. Sorting possible accom for us now. This is our scouting trip for following years, will stil be awesome but not as big :)

Must be a neat 20 with two posts about it!

Rang up tourism Vic who have informed me that the gar is not closed during winter except in extreme weather conditions, and even then it's only one section of it through the alps... So that's still a possibility. Also, camp sites aren't open until summer (so I'm told) as the weather is to unpredictable through other time of the year, have been recomended to look at dorms for accomodation and lodges doing groups (most cater for 4x4 crews etc ) but I'm not sure of the cost, it could knock the idea on it's head. The off season starts in October so that's a possibility, but it's pretty busy then too apparently... Bloody skiers! :) Sooooo... Any ideas? Don't want it to close to the gor run as it gets a bit hard to sort that out for everyone and have people doing Christmas etc as well. But it may work! I'm thinking cruise up EARLY sat morning and have breakfast somewhere nice :lolcry: then do the your through the mountains then to our sleaping spot for drinks etc and a hot pub meal (to thaw kehendo out if it's cold!) then do some more driving the next day before a liesurly cruise home? The highway is boring but it's well equipt for the travelers. Plenty to do all year round up there, snow fights or mountain biking, it's got it all. JP

Well, hello all of you rollaclubers out there. After cruising to albury over the weekend (a whole other story but what a weekend that was!) I drove past a bunch of Great Alpine Road signs and got thinking... We do the Great Ocean Road cruise yearly through summer but what about winter??? The GAR runs from wangarrrrrrata to bairnsdale through some brilliant mountans and towns, completely the inland version of the GOR and pretty special. From start to finish it's about 300km long. I'm not sure of the interest this will generate, or if it's doable as yet. I have had it in the back of my mind for a while but now I'm ready to get it happening! It would be very similar to the GOR trips ( very laid back and lots of cruising etc) but if done in winter wouldn't be a great camping trip... Unless you REALLY like snow  Anyhow, let's throw some ideas around and go from there. We could even end up doing a short version of the run this year over winter if were keen enough, just like the first GOR cruise. Cheers, JP
