  1. G'day Woz , congrats on a neat looking van , Cheers Dave
  2. I bought my Conversion 4A-GE & Gearbox complete with loom from SSS Automotive in Girraween NSW in the early 90's & had no problem with the Engine/gearbox or any components , Cheers Dave
  3. For the Oil feed you fit a adapter T piece to the Oil Light Switch then run the Line of it , I'm looking at turboing my 4k in the future & I'll be making custom manifolds as I want somehow to try & retain the original look to somewhat & as space on the LH side is tight I'll see what I can come up with , I'm actually contemplating running it with LPG injection setup but I think a carby will be used , AS for the 4A-GE conversion I've had done one of those before & I think value for money you can't beat a 5K as its cheap & they go well compared to the costs of the 4A-GE conversion , I have had/done both now looking at Turbo 4K Cheers Dave
  4. OK , here are some update pics of the repairs , there in Primer now ready to rub & paint . I'll then be fitting a Custom Period Side stripe & Pin strip , The new Chrome mould for the wheel arches & roof gutters will also be added then , New Chrome Trim rings will be added also , I found some NOS period mudflaps & have a trick up my sleeve with these but I think I'll only fit rear ones , unsure of the look with front plus I'd have to find another pair , Also found some Wire Mesh headlight covers lying around so these are a must for the old school look , More updates as its progresses towards rego , I think I'll be regoing it in the 1st week of Feb so I have a bit of time to get it looking good by then , Some things will be done & others as I go , Cheers Dave Took gaurd off to knock the dents out Knocked most of the dent out , Surface Rust only NO Holes :) Little bit of rust , Its been treated & Filled for now but will be welded When I paint The whole car inside & out , as a Colour change is definitely on the car when the engine cops a Turbo more than likely .
  5. G'day Chris , Yeah I think It'll look good although now I'm going to replace the Chrome Mould with a Slightly thicker one , I'm also going to add some old school looking stripes & pin stripes as its very plain with nothing on the side with no Body protector strip which I removed , Body repairs are 1/2 done & I'll be primering in the morning , I like the look of the supra rims on you coupe & almost bought a set years ago to put on my Electric Blue Wagon , Nice neat looking coupe of yours , G'day Josh , Thanks for the comments , I like you van as I think there heaps cooler than wagons but when you have to pay Commercial Rego on them this is why I buy wagons , Heaps cheaper & same inside capacity , OK I've semi worked out where this car is going now , I've pretty well scrapped the idea of putting carpet or vinyl in the back & Tinting the windows , I'm going to fit new Black Capet to the whole car , I'm also going to paint all the brown vinyl including doortrims black & fit a new board to the piece for the inside the tailgate , I'm thinking of Blacking out the sills & around the top of the doorframes & continuing this on the tops of the doors inside & blacking out the body coloured paint on the inside rear including the tailgate , I'm going to fit side rear & rear venetians I also want to lower the car & will be fitting lowered coils to the front & having the rears reset lower & have a extra leaf fitted to the springs , I'll be fabricating a towbar for it that'll fit inside the rear bar & will be barely noticable without the tongue , I also want to fit mudflaps & will be adding extra chrome moulds to certain locations which will be revealed in good time , I'm chasing the following parts , I've put up a wanted ad but thought I'll add it here too , Uncracked Daspad , Centre caps for Standard wheels , Will upload pic tomorrow of required type , Manual undamaged centre console, Front lowered coil springs , Rear & rear side venetians , (I know I can buy new but someone "Might" have 2nd hand) B Pillar RHF corner trim plastic piece , Will upload pic of required part Overflow bottle , Front & rear over riders KE30/36 will fit too , I had the RHF gaurd off today to hammer the dents out & also knocked the dent out of the rear 1/4 prior to filling , Pics of repairs coming Cheers Dave
  6. G'day Nick , its a tidy looking T18 there , The rust under your side rear window will be caused by the water sweating in the quaters & having no higher area to go or get out , so once your've fixed the water leaks it'll stop any more rust in these areas , Cheers Dave
  7. Nice clean looking 30 , wheels suit , Cheers Dave
  8. Thanks , The wheel arch mould is just stick on chrome mould that was purchased through Supercheap , I've found the same stuff for sale oversea's in various widths on ebay , If you want the links let me know , Yeah Chris , the only reason I didn't stick the rears on is due the Rust on the LH side & the damage on the RH side which I'll fix this week hopefully , I'm also going to stick some on the roof gutter as the Plastic Gutter moulds are long gone ,
  9. G'day Chris , Thanks for the comments , I think the Marine carpet might be the go as I'll be covering the side panels & wheel arches with it too , Here are the latest pics of how the car is now , I added wheel arch chrome to the front & would like honest opinions on whether or not to add it to the rears after I do the repairs as per pics , Cheers Dave
  10. Also the Spray gun will have the size on the Tip < Cheers Dave
  11. G'day Tom , yeah rub it back with 1200 wet on a "Colour Sanding Block" (these are thin foam blocks)& then buff it using a 7in sander/buffer with a Foam pad on it & Buffing compound, Keep the pad damp/wet & also spray water onto the car using a spray bottle , Make sure you do this out of the sun , Don't Buff any edges of the car on purpose unless your've finished everywhere else as you'll generally cover these without even knowing it & if you do buff them to much you'll go straight through the colour , I always if Possible Buff the car prior to any fitment of outside trims as the Compound makes a mess & sticks well everywhere & is a pain to get out of all the exterior Trim , creases & seams , It just gets everywhere & is much easy to clean off if you buff prior to reassembly , Cheers Dave
  12. G'day Tom , its come up looking pretty straight , well done on your 1st attempt , Can I ask what tip size you were using on your spray gun as the paint looks a bit dry , The ideal tip to use with acrylic in average temperatures is 2.0mm if you used a smaller one it would explain the dryness or its from the gun not being adjusted correctly , the other thing that may cause this is you moving to fast or being to far away from the car , If you want it better why not wet rub it with 800 & then throw another coat or 2 over it before putting back together & thinking maybe I should've , (Yes speaking from my previous mistakes lol) You'll only need another litre of paint & a bit more thinners , or just keep it in mind for next time Cheers Dave
  13. G'day All , I've given the Ol Corolla a hell of a Clean , Buff & polish , Fitted a new 5 speed gearbox , RA Celica 14 x 5 1/2 in rims with 185/60/14 tyres , New Seat Covers , Tightened the Steering column , Tuned , Serviced & is now basically ready to regoed although I'm going to fix the small rust spots & damage areas prior to regoing , I'll get some new pics up tomorrow & show also what still needs repairing , I would like some opinions on what you would do or think would be better , Keeping in mind this car will be used everyday & parked everywhere , Should I tint the windows Black like the last 2 wagons I had (Its very Cool inside & you can't see in) or should I fit side & rear venetians , I have venetians in my Falcons but this car has a different purpose , I'm thinking of covering all the Painted areas in the back of the wagon & can't choose between covering it in Black Marine type carpet or gluing a layer of Foam on the paint then gluing Black Vinyl over it to give it a nice padded feel , More work but might look better , Cheers Dave
  14. Here is my last KE38 wagon , its Painted Ford Electric Blue 2K PPG , Engine Bay Pic , Link to thread , http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/47402-my-new-ke38-wagon-previous-ke38s/page__p__488850__fromsearch__1#entry488850 Cheers Dave
  15. G'day Simon , Never really been into Turbo's as I've always driven V8's , But I did build a Mitsubishi Scorpian in the early 90's with a 2.6 Turbo engine , Went hard & cost next to nothing to build , Your've got me thinking & after seeing your car I think it maybe possible & its quiet cheap to buy a New kit as below , I'll just buy a Tig welder 1st then I'll manufacture a Tube Alloy Intake & a Custom Turbo Manifold , I have this silly idea of running Liquid LPG Direct injection onto it too so I can bypass any fuel control issues . http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyota-Corolla-T3T4-TurboCharger-Turbo-Kit-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5191bb35f9QQitemZ350337316345QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVERSAL-T3-T4-TURBO-KIT-Toyota-MR2-Celica-Corolla-AE8-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4154e8a076QQitemZ280597405814QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories I would be able to work with this , a little cutting & welding but this would be easy compared to the Restoration work I do on Rusty Falcon GT's these days & I'm a Mechanic by trade , Cheers Dave
  16. No it bolted straight in , It did have a 5k engine number too , Don't know the previous history of the engine as I bought the engine/box combo stripped off a guy that had it to go into his KE70 at the time , paid $120 for it all . As for the new wagon , I don't like the colour of it all , as I like Blue not Yuck Yellow so who know where the it'll end up & after seeing the pics of the Electric Blue wagon its started to make me think again about a Full colour change & some sort of engine upgrade , would love a V8 in it but it wouldn't be legally regoed , If I did it I would make it a 2 hour bolt in conversion so I could always drop the 4k back in to get any defects cleared LOL . Cheers Dave
  17. G'day Taz , Thanks I forgot how good the 2nd one looked as I didn't even know if I had good pics of it or not , Neither car would've been sold if it wasn't for the people both offering Good money for them as I find them very handy & somehow they end up Modified/Restored whilst I own them which attracts buyers I guess , It may have a had a 7k rocker cover as I bought the 5k engine in bits & built it myself , I ported the Head & intake as big as I could go & drilled out the jets too , Cheers Dave
  18. G'day All , Here is a Link to my new KE38 wagon that I'll be recieving on Tuesday as its being transported down from Newcastle area , http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150529465975&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT, It will be getting a set of 14 in RA60 Celica rims fitted with 185/60 tyres , Once regoed I'll fit some 5% window tint , unsure of any other future mods apart from a Cold air Intake & Stereo , Just before you read & see the other KE38's I've owned I'll advise you All now that I'm a Ford Musclecar Man & own 8 Falcons from XT-XB including a XTGT & XWGTHO , Now back to the KE38's , Pics are of poorer quality due to being pics of pics 1st one was bought in 94 for $800 with 5mths rego , 4k 4spd , I fitted a 4AGE & 5spd Sprinter engine & box combo , Repainted the car in its Original colour but I added a bit of Gold pearl to it , 5% window tint , RA60 Celica Rims with 195/60 fronts & 245/60 rears , Sold it a guy that came up to me & Offered me $6500 for it so off it went , Original plans were to fit a 289 & auto with LSD to it as back then I couldv'e got it engineered & regoed in NSW , If I had done this I'd still own it now , 2nd one was bought around 2001 for $400 with 3 mths reg , It had rust in the back, doors , gaurds , bonnet & roof , but nothing to drastic , It was Burnt orange with Brown trim , I painted it inside & out in 2K Ford Electric Blue with GT style blacked out Sills & Window frames , I fitted XYGT bonnet pins , Escort Mirrors , Removed Tailgate lock , Ford Door locks as Corolla ones a useless , RA60 Celica rims 185/60 tyres , Blue/Black trim was also fitted , It copped a Worked 5k 5spd with all Alloy on the engine Highly polished , Sold to a customer for $3500 in roughly 03-04 as he asked to buy it , I've had 2 KE30 sedans KE35 Coupe , a KE55 sedan & a Overrated KE36 waqon that was given to me & sold a week later for $800 , Cheers Dave
