  1. G'day All , I'm slowly collecting the Bits I need to build a Supercharged 4K , I've slightly Opened up the Head Chambers & I'm hoping that with a Cometic Head Gasket http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/COMETIC-GASKET-C4105-043-TOYOTA-3K-4K-84MM-/270696007119?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f06bd45cf that my Compression ratio will be around 8.5:1 , This means on 98 octane I should be Able to Run 5 psi giving a Compression Ratio of 11.5:1 +/- 0.2:1 , In saying this has anyone ever run a Water/Metanol Injection system to Run More Boost safely without Meltdown , I', thinking of buying this Kit http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Water-Methanol-Injection-System-TURBO-SUPERCHARGER-HOLDEN-FORD-TOYOTA-NISSAN-BMW-/270895618082?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f12a31822 & then Boosting it 10-12 psi giving roughly 14.3-15.4:1 Comp . I will be running a AMR500 supercharger which have a Maximum RPM of 18000 RPM so i'll overdrive the charger to meet my Boost requirements & make pullies , Has anyone thought of or does run Water/Methanol Injection & what results have been had either good or bad , i'd like to know , Another Question , Has anyone ever Fitted Larger Valves to there 4K head & if so do you know what was a Close fit , Obviously some mods will be needed , Cheers Dave
  2. Just a Small update , I've Smoothened out the exterior of the Head removing all sharp edges & Polished it , Its not 100% finished as a couple of corner bits need finishing but you get the idea , I'm going to see if I can fit slightly larger Valves fitted to the head when it goes off to get machined now that I've finished playing , Heres the Pics , Cheers Dave
  3. The Speed sensor I had fitted to the Speedo cable was just a Universal VDO unit (As was advised to be suitable), I wired it to the Computer as per Factory , At the time it cost around $100 , Good list of Codes there Reed , Minor crap really but all makes a difference , Cheers Dave
  4. Hey Chris , the wagon does look alot better than page 1 , Keep going & yes White is better than the Original Yellow (Baby$h!T Brown) LOL , same as mine Cheers Dave
  5. Cheers Ben , Yeah I like the stripes too & they look period correct , Cheers Josh , Yeah I'll be looking at dropping the front 2in & the back 2.5in with a Extra Leaf fitted , I'm also going to buy some camber adjusters I've found in the US that replace the Lower Steering arm with fully adjustable Ball Joint Location , I will be ordering them in the next couple of weeks & when they get here I'll post pics , Cheers Dave
  6. G'day Reed , Tidier looking 70 than the Previous one , Looks like your've been having some great fun with Previous dodgy repairs/mods , I had a Beige KE70 around 15 years ago & my Garndma bought a Yellow Auto one brand new , I have done 2 4AGE-KE38 conversions years ago & still have the Manual in the pic below , I bought this to wire the cars up using the Factory ECU's , My one I fitted a Speed Sensor to the Speedo cable & My mates one we didn't , Everything else was Identical , My car pulled harder & definitley had more top end than his , Neither of these 2 wagons had Surge tanks & in both when below 1/2 tank Cornering would cause cutout/missfire too , Definitely needed them , I noticed your not running a Oxygen sensor either , this is crucial to get Air/Fuel ratio's correct , Running without these sensors put the car in Get home/limp type Mod , Add the Oxy , Speed sensors & tune it & I think it should go better , Yes Hacksaw the Tips , Slant looks cool in its own way If your interested in the Toyota Manual I would be prepared to sell it as I no longer have a need for it , Cheers Dave
  7. G'day Josh , Good to see progress since I last checked up , Paint will come up great when you get around to the cut&buff , Great colour too , Cheers Dave
  8. G'day Chris , thanks for the comments & re the front spoiler I thought the same initially but think once I lower the car it will look better being closer to the ground , I would've like more downward angle in it but that meant alot of Fibreglass work , I need to check up the progress on your wagon & will do over the next couple of days , Bit behind , G'day Josh , Yeah I like Fat tyres checl out the 1st pic on page 1 they were 245/50/14's on 5 1/4 in rims , But these days wide low profile 14 in tyres are so expensive so just went for 195's on the Rear , Yah i reckon the Supercharger set up & twin exhaust will be something different , I have a AC/DC Tig so welding the Alloy won't be a problem & I'm looking at buying a Plasma cutter to cut the Alloy flange plates I'll need to weld to the manifold & mount the Supercharger with , I restore cars for a living & do most of the cars myself , the only thing I don't do is fit the Seat trim but I have done this when totally necessary , I'll generally try to do anything myself & I'm mostly self taught bar my trade as a mechanic , Anyway here are some pics below of the Bathurst Globes fitted with new 185/60/14 front & 195/60/14 rear , I bodgied up some centre caps for the wheels , Cheers Dave
  9. Thanks Josh , Hayden & Reed , seeing that I did get a Positive response from you guy's I will return to the Forum & now update my cars thread as progress happens , OK , since last update I've done a quick 5% window tint job on the wagon , I've also purchased another 4k engine , Extractors , I've also purchased a set of 14x6 Bathurst Globe wheels , Engine is going to be Supercharged with a AMR500 Supercharger running 1.5:1 ratio Mounted directly ontop of the Inlet Manifold , I will be machining up a Snout for the supercharger so the belt will be inline with the lower pulley , Weber Carby will be mounted directly ontop of the supercharger , Every Component made out of Alloy on the engine will be Highly Polished including supercharger , Air intake will be via a minutare Shaker bonnet scoop mount to the engine with a hole cut int the centre of the bonnet , Mild cam & 30thou pistons are going in the bottom end & I'll be modifying the sump with wings for increased Oil Capacity , I will be running twin 1 1/2 exhaust straight off the extractor splitting 1-4 & 2-3 so you'll hear the individual firing in the exhaust , The Bathurst Globes I've restored them , bought new wheel nuts & tyres have been ordered , New Firestone 185/60/14 for the Front & 195/60/14 Firestone for the rear , These wheels should be on tomorrow so will add pics of wheels on car , Need to sort out centre cap issue though , Car will be getting lowered soon with 2in lowered springs in the front & reset rears with a extra leaf added , Driving lights will be mounted infront of the grille n the next few weeks , Anyway here's a few pics of the Head Porting & Wheels as bought & after my resto , Cheers Dave
  10. test Dave
  11. hello Cheers Dave
  12. Hi All been a while since I've been online , So heres a update of whats happening with my KE38 , Basically I've just been driving it other than Some Idiot hitting the RH side of the car lightly damaging the gaurd , both doors & dogleg area , I've knocked most of the damage out but haven't repaired it due to New plans with the car , Today I pulled out my XB ute's old front spoiler (Slight damage in the middle so replacing it) & decided to fit it to the KE , Alittle bit of Cutting & Filing & its fitted , I need to Fibreglass the centre flange ends back inside so i can bolt it together in the middle but I think it looks pretty cool , Near Future plans are to Tint windows , Fit XYGT Door Mirrors , Fit XYGT Petrol cap & surround include Filler neck & Body section , Removal of door & tailgate locks Remote Doors with Button inside for Tailgate , Graft Nissan Pintara FWD front Wheel arches to Front gaurds , Possibly minaturize a XYGT Shaker & fit that through the bonnet , Driving lights to be added to the grille , I'm going to paint it Candy Blue & possibly add Blue Metal Flake or Blue Pearl to the paint , Window frames & sills will be blacked out , Trim is going either White & black or straight black Dash will have extra gauges fitted , Engine is going to be Turboed with a new exhaust & i may even hide the engine bay wiring . The car will also cop lower front coils with new struts , reset rear springs with a added leaf , Crossed drilled & slotted rotors for the front , Wheels & tyres will be 15x7 front & 15x8 rear with 205/50 & 225/50 tyres . Anyway here's a few pics of the front spoiler treatment , Tell me what you think & if anyone wants to know how hard it is to modify one of these XBGT spoilers to fit a corolla let me know & I'll try to explain the best I can Cheers Dave
  13. OK Thanks , would've gone if I wasn't Judging at the Falcon GT Nats in Brisbane on at the same time , Might have to wait til next year as the GT nats are Bi-annual , Cheers Dave
  14. When is the Event on , Cheers Dave
  15. Nice Tidy wagon there Tom , yes its in very similar cond to mine & mine has also got one little tear thats been repaired in the Roof Lining , LOL Cheers Dave
  16. G'day Tom , Thanks for the comments , Yeah my 1st wagon had 1/2 of the Plastic Gutter Moulds on it when I got it but soon ditched them & even back then they were to hard to find so I didn't bother with them , OK , Update on the Current Wagon , I've added Pintstripe , Custom Side Stripes (70's look), Wheel Arch Chrome Moulds , Doortop Chrome Mould , Chrome Gutter Mould , Bit of Chrome mould across the Front , Rear Mud Flaps with TEQ Toyota Logo's inserted into them , a couple of TEQ decals on the rear 1/4 windows & a Funny Toyota Sticker for the rear window , I need to seal the hole up around the Shifter & a couple of minor other things & I should be regoing next week , Here are some pics , I'll post a couple of the ebay pics as they'll dissapear soon so it shows before & after , Any comments on whether or not I went overboard on the ad ons , Cheers Dave As Bought off ebay , As it is now
  17. No I actually Restore Falcons (I own 8 ranging from XTGT to XB ute) i'm a mechanic & have hot clevo's (Strokers & worked 4v's)& was using my 302 windsor xw fairmont as a daily until recently now using my 351 xy until I rego my KE38 corolla wagon probably next week to take over these duties , A 383 Kit will cost around $1300 for a cheap kit & suitable for mild applications
  18. A 302 Cleveland wouldn't pull a skin off a rice custard so if low down power is what your after you have the Wrong Engine set up , For Low down Grunt I would Stroke it 383 or 393 , Fit a Mild Hydro Cam (2000-6000 rpm range) with a Dual Plane intake , throw a 1 in Carb spacer & 750cfm Vac Sec , This will produce heaps of Torque (ft lb's) probably very close to HP output , Is it running a V drive or through a Tranny
  19. You have a 302 Cleveland (Other name Boat Anchor) there not a Windsor , Totally different engines & very visibly different , 302 Clevelands are the Most useless Ford V8 engine as they are Gutless , Heavy , The Windsor is Lighter & Revs harder . You WILL NOT find a Twin 2 barrel manifold as there is No Such Thing , Single 4 barrel , Twin 4's or even Triple 2 barrels , Your engine looks Very Stock so wouldn't expect a "Jet Boat" out of your combo , Maybe strip the engine , throw a 393 Stroker kit into it with Alloy heads , High rise intake & 850cfm DP carby then it might go as you'll have a easy 450-500HP compared to the 302C 160-200 hp currently pending out what the engines out of , I can tell you what the engines out of if you tell me the engine number of the LHF of the block , Cheers Dave
  20. How can a Smaller Inlet Manifold stop this , If its getting pressure out of the Cylinders into the carby How will this make any difference , I'm a Mechanic & have been for knocking on 20 years & what you have written Doesn't make sense to Change the Inlet , Inlet manifold change WON'T change anything apart from Performance as the Smaller Runners with take Power away which is totally useless if your building a engine & fitting/fitted a Performance cam , Might aswell just bolt a Stock engine back in there so theres no probs . Most People actually Increase Manifold Port size not decrease it when building performance engines as it makes them breath better , Geez I think I'll have to advise everyone to Put Small manifolds on & take the extractors off & fit a Big Cam :bash: As Said Timing either Cam or Ignition is where I'd be looking 1st , Not Manifold size as this is just a BIG Hole flowing to the head
  21. Ignition or Valve Timing is out to cause this sort of a Problem as Obviously the Inlet Valve isn't closed when the Piston is coming up on Compression Stroke or Could have BURNT valves or seat wear , but with even comp I'd probably Degree the cam in correctly using a Degree wheel to Make sure there are any over laps causing the prob , Cheers Dave
  22. Yeah Tom , sounds like a Flasher can prob , Whilst you have the indicators & give it a belt & if starts working you'll know 100% thats its faulty , Don't think your've fixed it though :lolcry: as it will stuff up again , Cheers Dave
  23. Josh & Woz , She's looking good but I'll give you a tip about Painting cars , Please stop Spraying Tyre Shine on or near your car even 20-50 metres away from the Primer is too close as the Silicone in the Tyre Shine will make your Paint Job impossible to get nice IF you Cover Your Car in Silicone as the Paint WON"T stick & you'll end up with "Fisheyes" in the paint work , Primers & Putties are completely unsealed & draw Moisture & "Silicone" into them & its impossible to get it back out without stripping it back , Use Plenty of Wax & Grease removed & rub the crap out of it & then let it dry & do it again , Then PLEASE don't spray any more near the car or area in which you wish to paint , It'll make a difference , Cheers Dave
  24. Looks Good Tom well done , Cheers Dave
  25. OK , I've done a little bit of playing in the engine bay to day , I needed to reset the Valve clearances & reroute the heater pipe that was above the ignition leads instead next to the Dizzy , I went over board & Highly Polished the Following items , The Rocker Cover , Thermosat Housing , Heater Pipe , Distributor Housing , The Ignition Coil & the Fuel Pump , I painted the Dipstick , Vacuum advance unit & Master Cylinder cap , I need to paint the engine block Black & polish the Timing Cover, Inlet Manifold & Head but i'll do this when the engine is rebuilt/turboed , Then the Polished items will stand out more , I'll probably paint the air filter Black in the next few days as I think it'll look better , Here's a couple of Pics , Might try & get some better ones & I'll change them , Cheers Dave
