internals from a 1G GTE will fit into a 7k? I'm praying they will :rolls:
-
Absolutely awesome job if this is not an inspiration to anyone to finish there builds I don't know what is, well done definately next years contender for best rolla :y:

Hey Ryan I'm going to stay with standard internals but I am going to crack it open and and get the engine balanced possibly just replace the pistons with new standard items if they seem damaged in any way, check any bearings, seals, pins, rings, etc etc. I am than going to get the head worked ported and polished, larger valves and double valve springs, will also get a regrind on the standard cam to suit the performance I am after. The reason I am going to stay with standard internals is because I will only be running a maximum of 10psi at 5500rpm so its going to have plenty of torque and pull in the low rpm, I will also be using a custom front mount intercooler and EFI setup. thanks for the interest any other questions feel free to ask. :y:

Hey mate yeah I found my 7k on tradingpost.com but I recon if you just ring wreckers and jap import wreckers and places like that you will find one, good luck
-
Yeah thanks "love Ke70" that's why I have gone from my original option of a tuff NA to the EFI supercharged option. I understand that a tuff NA engine is good to drive around at high rpm all day around a track or smashing around the streets, so if I go EFI supercharged I can drive around at a lower rpm but still have a lot pull and torque. I'm not one to drive around thrashing my cars but would love to be able to pull away from V6's and hopefully V8's and have them wondering what's in that little thing. I'm only going to be running 10psi as I don't have the money to go forged internals but I will be having the engine rebuilt with standard pistons but will use a copper head gasket a bit thicker than standard so it will lower compression, I'm also going to get the head ported and polished as much as possible and have larger valves and double valve springs fitted, I will get a regrind on the standard cam to what they recommend. Hopefully this will make this little ke11 get up and moving

how did you go on the dyno mate
-
1JZKe55 thank you once again, this sure is an impressive EFI setup if I could get a list of things I would need for a complete setup that would be a massive help, And I am also going to run a front mount intercooler and you say the standard 7k engine will handle 10psi without changing internals, I am still going to get a port and polish, regrind on the cam, and balanced and replacing bearings if need be and if I can source some standard pistons replace those as well. And for compression could I use a shim to reduce the comp and then possibly run a higher PSI? And on another note I see madrolla made 159kw at the wheels with a standard 7k EFI manifold, do you think that your setup with 22psi would be making much more than this? and if so would will it be the highest powered k engine on rollaclub? cheers Todd :y:
-
Hey 1jzke55 I have been doing some research and I am going to make my own plenum and inlet manifold and efi setup, with making my own I'm not sure what sensors I'm going to weld in to make it work if you could let me know how you had yours made that would be much appreciated, also what injectors would I need to use if I'm going to be running 8psi. And with your fuel setup did you just use a better fuel pump or did you use a surge tank?
-
I'm not 100% sure but I think there may have been a 7ke and a 7kc but in my case I have a 7ke stamped on the head of mine and for some stupid reason who ever i bought it off changed it to carby
-
How hard is it to do a blow through set up with carbies? or is it not worth it. Going EFI and supercharged what would need to be done to the engine to produce that kind of power and how much money would it take for this to be done properly? And thanks for the info 1JZKe55. :)
-
Thanks for that corolla_bitten I think I would be happy with a 30 - 35% increase, I have read some where else about making a 7k rev harder and pretty much all the guy said to do was to get the engine balanced and then have a regrind on the cam, port and polish and if you have the money get larger valves, this way I guess more air and fuel will be entering the chamber that way it will rev harder. If I could get it to rev to 7 grand all day every day I would be stoked I guess lightening the fly wheel would help it rev more aswell. What sort of budget do you think I should be working around for a complete rebuild of this kind
-
hey WET.K30 yeah mate did you do any head work how big did you go with your exhaust?
-
I was just thinking how much could you bore out a 7k for a larger displacement 1.9, 2.0?
-
hey guys I'm glad you like it, and yeah I guess how you want to build your motor is up to the owner and of course the money. I'm leaning more towards a tuff NA engine as that way it will still look clean and tidy as there would only be another carby and some extra fuel lines and rising rate reg. How much power and revs do you think you could get out of a 7k with this kind of rebuild, I understand it wont rev as much as its little brothers.
-
Hey guys I currently own a 1970 ke11 with a 7k I haven't had this engine in for long I was happy with the power increase for the first week but now I am chasing more power. I had in mind a full rebuild, balanced, head port and polished, larger valves and cam regrind, electronic dizzy and performance coil, twin webber carbys and match ported manifold, fuel pump and rising rate regulator, and a new exhaust system. I already have an electronic dizzy, set of extractors and a rising rate reg. Is this going to be worth my while or do I go supercharged and fuel injection? I don't particularly want to go down this path but if what i had in mind is not going to satisfy me it probably is. here are some pictures of the setup I'm currently running.
-
I have thought about changing rods and what not but I think the only internal change will be pistons and try and get the comp up. I was almost contemplating doing a completely worked A15 engine but then again I also want to keep the 7k and do something different. All I can ask is if someone has done a worked 7k with itb or quad carbs, cam, port and polishing, etc etc to drop a line in this thread thanks to everyone with there opinions ;)
-
Ok so if I went away from using quad carbs and went to a itb's setup this would be worth doing? I have also been reading the early nissan A series engines (A14-A15) quad carb setups and it seems to work for them. and yes i think i will be pulling the whole engine down so balancing and polishing will be happening.
-
Hello everyone I'm very curious about building my 7k engine into a tough street engine in my 1970 ke11. I have currently been reading a discussion about using quad motorbike carbs on a 4k engine and I would like to use the same setup on my 7k. I'm also going to try and get this engine to rev a bit harder as I know they aren't as rev happy. I have a basic understanding with engines but I would also like to talk with other people to find out more on how to do so. I will also be getting a regrind on the cam, tracking down a light weight flywheel, porting and polishing the head, double valve springs, larger valves, quad carb setup, electronic dizzy, performance headers and exhaust system. The only thing I'm really not sure on is the internal side of things pistons, push rods, conrods, ect so if someone has any info on this please let me know.

Kw is good but the touque in that would be so much fun thats a real nice conversion.
-
For anyones interest I have done some further research and there is a sr16vvl or sr20vvl head conversion kit for sr20det available but it is about $2500 so i think ill leave that technology alone stick with a sr20de conversion into my ke11 with itb's, head work, mild cams, custom headers, and beef the spark and fuel up a bit and see how i go from there should be a great NA engine and power to weight ratio, anyones opinion and ideas would be great also.
-
Cheers mate will let you know how my research goes.
-
Hi Sam and yes I am aware of the products you make I have actually used you before if you don't remember my name, On that note do you make a rwd kit for this engine and if so how much and the question I asked is how hard is it to do? And is there anyone who has done this conversion before?
-
Was just wondering how hard it would be to turn a sr16ve to a rwd turbo for a ke11 if any one has any information or has done this kind of conversion before please let me know, here is a picture I found of one in rwd form in a datsun 510.
-
Hi anyone I have a 7k in my ke11 and it is currently carby but would like to go EFI and turbo if anyone has some info on this or if it has been done already I would like to read about it.
-
No AE70 I did not remove the transeverse leaf in the front its not worth removing it almost acts as a swaybar or brace if you like, and the original struts are still in place so i kept it in place.
