  1. Hey mitch, did you end up offloading that supercharger setup? Need to gain a few seconds on the car club boys in the khanacrosses....
  2. Hey All, Just got a new project on the go. I've picked up the new ke70 that has a 3tc and a t50 mounted in it.... I've got to sort out intake and exhaust to get the engine going. I am struggling to find any extractors for it here in oz, but I have found these on ebay. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/180775620754?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648 They are a lot cheaper (even after postage!) than if I was going to get some made by an exhaust person here, so I'm thinking of grabbing them. Just wanted to know if anyone knows of someone local that does them or stocks them that I haven't found yet?! Cheers Joe
  3. Well.... Bit of an update. Still have the Khanarolla, but I've made another purchase. Rally looks like fun, and when you see something like this pop up for sale, you can't really say no... I'm sure everyone on this board will agree. I'll write up some specs later in the week, but here's a teaser pic.... :D
  4. I don't think they would either.... I have a single DCOE intake manifold here (unused and bought new from Redline Auto). Pm me if interested in buying it.... Cheers
  5. cheers jake
  6. Does the 2t & 3t have the same intake pattern on the block? I am looking for a single sidedraught intake manifold for a 3t. Closest I can find is the 2t one on redlineauto.com.au http://www.redlineauto.com.au/products/product/12-3135?category=BFLXHVLE& From what I've read it should fit, but will the port sizes be the same or close? Cheers Joe
  7. Been a while... Heading down to a motorkhana on Sunday. Hoping for a bit of fun. Got one more Khana left this year after that, then it's time to get working on club rego and then pulling the insides out/fitting sidedraft weber and play with the suspension a bit... Yee haa...
  8. Basher indeed! Went down to where the Khanacross was meant to be on Sunday. 'rolla in tow.... No-one there! Shattered. 'Apparently' the event wasn't confirmed. It was on the website... >| Anyways. So, I went and chatted to the farmer over the road and he said that we could take the car for a run if we wanted. Open track! Got to practice on the usual Khana track, all by ourselves. Was great. Spent an hour teaching the wife how to use the handbrake, awesome fun... and funny. Then spent the next halfa doing some runs myself. New exhaust sounds great, the engine is sounding pretty strong and going well. Got to fit a tacho so I can see what's happening under the bonnet. Decided to stop at an hour an a half... that long at full throttle is enough for one Sunday. I've got some video, I'll post it up soon so you can hear the exhaust and see us sideways.... 70 style :y: :y:
  9. Right... Makes sense. Look forward to seeing the engine conversion
  10. Legends. You guys are too good... at least you know the right places to start looking anyway! Cheers, I'll hunt around for some bits now.
  11. Don't know much about the braking system, but what's the advantage of removing the booster? The hydraulic handbrake can be set up on a seperate brak line yeah?
  12. just a single... couldn't justify $$$ for two at the moment. Missed out on a couple of doubles that were bargains, so bit the bullet and bought just one. Money to spend elswhere! I know I'll get a nice improvement from one anyway  Know anything about sizes?? Cheers
  13. Got the carby arriving in the next couple of days and ordered a manifold and soft mount kit from redline for it today :D Carb is not jetted to suit... It's nowhere near suitable actually!! So I'm going to put it out there to ask if anyone knows good jet sizes for a 40mm dcoe to suit a stock 4k with a decent exhaust. Or if anyone knows where I can look up specifics on the net? I'll take it to someone to get it tuned proper, but I'd like to get it going reasonable myself so I learn a bit more about it... and so I can drive it to the tuner! Any help is good.... Joe
  14. Sounds like a lot of work, but I agree with the thought of staying in the 1300cc CAMS class... good way to keep the budget 'reasonable'. You started a build thread for this yet? Get some pictures up... keen to have a look see...
  15. Will get there on most of this stuff... Won't be doing a cam until something goes wrong with the motor and it needs to be taken apart!! ha. Not sure about locking the diff just yet, worried about understeer from lack of power - probably not too much of an issue off the tarmac I guess... Battery will be going to the boot when I get the manifold for the carb and fit all that up. Plan on making some kind of cold air intake box that comes from where the battery is now - rather than blocking in front of the radiator. Can anyone recommend gas shocks that won't cost the earth?? Model numbers for standard height?? I plan on getting stiffer rate but same height king springs when funds permit. As for the muffler, it's actually pretty high, just the patch of grass I parked the car on is quite high too! Gippsland is a fair drive with a car trailer from the north east!! In beechworth - between wangaratta and bright. Head down to Sadny Point at the Prom reguarly as we have a place down there, so I might try and tie in a visit, maybe khana the wife's daily??! :lolcry: I might just be stealing ideas off you too! haha. I keep eyeing off the mods on the scott motorsports ke, thinking if I can do half of those at half the price I should have a pretty fun car! (keeping the 4k though... Love being in the 1300cc class for the khanacross's, it's only worked mini's with LSD fronts that you have to worry about!) Will be sure to keep the posts coming, glad I put it on here actually - helps with the motivation! Joe
  16. Hey All, The story goes "the wife wanted to start rally, so I thought we'd start with something we can have some fun in and see if we're serious." I don't know one guy that wouldn't say OK if his better half wanted to get into motorsport!!! Just putting the car up for people to see... Not much special going on on the outside, or inside for that matter! Bought the car for 400 big ones off the side of the road. It was owned by a few young guys that thrashed it round the paddock. Too good for that I thought so I saved it from a certain miserable death!! Since having it I had the hotbox gasket replaced. It was a bit leaky and the reason the young guys weren't driving it. They apparently thought it was going to blow up?! I drove it home 40km's with a vicroads permit. Ran like a dream, exhaust swaying in the wind and radio crackling. So I pulled out radio centre console etc, didn't need that stuff. I sourced some challengers off here (thanks swl-42) put the good two tyres on the front and the crap ones on the back. I also got a bolt and some hoop iron (bracing strap for houses - i'm a chippy) and braced the muffler so we could race a khanacross. We went well (wife and me - racing same car seperately) I came 8th overall in the stock 1300! and she drove scary well almost pipping me on a few runs! Since then I got some redback 4-1 extractors (fitted the one piece gasket and removed all the vac sh*t) put onto 2inch exhaust straight through to a lukey 'turbo' sports muffler with a 2 inch tip. Sounds like a rally car now! Bit harder to start, can take a few shots (guessing it's lack of back pressure?? Not fussed at the moment) Bought a 32/36 weber for it and the adaptor plate to suit the stock manifold. But I've since decided that's not the way to go and I've changed plan. So now I have a single 40mm sidedraught weber on the way and will get a manifold to mount it all up when I can. Will be getting it jetted and tuned by someone who knows what they're doing around here somewhere and see how we are going for power then. Will look into some suspension and traction aids next! No mods to the engine till something goes! On the inside I've put a dished rally style OMP replica steering wheel and pulled the spring from the handbrake replacing it with one of those nifty AJPS screw in jobby's to get rid of the rachet... Handy upgrade until funds permit for hydraulic handbrake! Getting historic club rego for it soon, need a new windscreen first. Then get some lights etc. so we can do some touring assemblies at night on the new log book scheme! Once we have that rego I'll be taking the rear seats, carpet, deadener etc etc and make up some kind of roll cage for peace of mind - ie. not chromoly and not CAMS approved... The motorkhana we were entered in was called off due to rain (grass motorkhana) a couple of weeks ago, so looking forward to another khanacross on the 28th of this month! Haven't had the chance to really rev out the new exhaust. Neighbours wouldn't appreciate it much... Always happy to take advice on setup etc, so feel free to let me know if i'm goign about something arse about!! Will get some more pictures up after the khanacross  Cheers
  17. Thanks for the info guys. Keith, that is the sort of article i've been trawling the net for. Thanks. Parrot, I am going to keep the engine together for as long as it goes! But as soon as it needs to be taken apart i'll be getting the cam done and get everything in there neatened up. After that I don't want to do much else to the engine, as it's good being in the 1300 class at the car club, not many competitors in the class for one, but the most important bit is when you beat someone in a bigger class there's more bragging rights  suspension will be slowly (and cheaply) worked on after that....
  18. Just for any other novices going through the same thing trying to nut out a 32/36 dgv... I found the following page after a bit more research, it has all the stock jet sizes right down the bottom of page. Another page suggested that it will run fine with the stock ones, but obviously i'll need to tune them to suit the specific application. http://www.carburetion.com/diags/3236dgvdiaginfo.asp cheers Joe
  19. Hey Guys, I'm Joe, living in North East Vic near Wangaratta.... Bought the KE70 for $400 from the side of the road around here... then drove it home! replaced an exhaust gasket, bought some wheels off here, and a steering wheel from ebay and put it on a trailer to it's first khanacross a couple of weeks ago... came 8th overall outta 22. The only other in the 1300 class for the day came first overall, who said you need ppower to win?! :lolcry: Got some extractors on the way and a weber in the shed and looking to make it handle ok over the coming months. Going to get some 'historic' club reg for it too, save having to worry about mods and proper RWC! Got a lotta info form here so far and will keep you all posted on the 70's progress. Cheers
  20. Thanks for the advice guys, with a stock cam where do you think I should start with the jets, I've read that with the 32/36 it's generally a good idea to start with the 'standard' jets that come with it? I thought they would be supplied to suit the application when buying carb new, therefore be different for each application? Being a secondhand carb, I am rebuilding it and will be probably buying new jets in the process i guess... (first carb rebuild since i was 15 and working on my motorbike, should be a quick learning curve :blinks: ) Can anyone lead me to a recommended starting point with jet sizes. ie- something that it will run ok then I can play around later. In regards to the right angle on the intake, haven't had it apart yet so i'm not aware of it! Will have a look see when i've got it apart :hmm: Cheers Joe
  21. Hey All, Need a bit of help/advice. I have searched to find out about this topic, as I do when any question arises. Usually I find the answers I'm looking for but not this time. Recently got a 32/36 Weber off ebay, along with a redline adapter plate to reuse the stock inlet manifold. I've ordered some Genie extractors from my local mechanic and they'll be in later this week, so I'm wanting to fit it all up. My question is about the 'hotbox'setup between the standard inlet and exhaust manifolds. Is there actually airflow between the two? or are the just bolted to each other to create that warming effect that toyota thought would be great? Just wondering because when the extractors go on, I'm assuming the hole in inlet side of hotbox has to be covered and wondering how best to do? I'm sure someone out there knows as a lot have extractors, so any help would be great. :hmm: Cheers joe
  22. FYI, just ordered a set from local garage... Had two options from two phone calls. One set were RRP $430, so i didn't even ask what brand they were The other set are Genie's and they were around the $300 mark readily available and here before the end of the week :D Any exhaust shop/mechanic should be able to chase them up from their suppliers. Hope it helps... Cheers Joe
  23. Hey mate, what engine does the adapter plate suit? How much for post to bendigo 3550 victoria.
