I went down to Brisbane during the school holidays to go to the airport. Mine is the only one I have seen with the XXR's on it looking through here and AE86DC. The engine setup has only been finished recently in that color scheme and I have only just gotten the plates (TEQ86) The OMR510 plates are for sale for the right price or the right bits if you are interested. Send me a pm if you are keen.

The AE86 was from Brisbane originally. The bloke I bought it off got it from somewhee in Brisbane for 8k. I have been trying to find out more about its history if anyone knows it. The plates on the wagon are off my old Datsun 1600 ie Mr Five Ten but read as Mr Slow on the wagon lol

The XXR's are as I bought em. The Wagon is still for sale. I never got your number lol and I am always chasing bits especially for the Hachi

Have a AE86 with a 4AGTE conversion with a Motec M48. Trying to get a Tacho output signal either to run the dash tach or Monster Tacho. Its running the 4AGZE Dli setup and I have done a few searches etc but I thought someone here might have had direct experience with it. Would be nice to find the person who did the conversion and pick their brains about the car. Any help appreciated Regards Keith

I was thinking rotor when I first got it but I am pretty much decided on doing a 4AGTE to compliment the one in the 86. Already have palns and pricing for the suspension, now I just have to save some cash and do it. Or I might sell it if I get the right money. Regards Keith

I actually bought the Hachi for the driveline for the wags lol........ but now I will keep the Hachi and clean it up a little, the Wagon will be my longer term project and yeah it needs to be dumped lol

Just picked up an ADM AE86 with a 4AGTE motor in it. Thought I would throw them up together Regards Keith

Yeah the OMR510 Plates used to be on my Datto 1600 lol but now i read them as Mr Slow

Steering box wear is actually accelerated by the flexing of the steering box on the rail. Plus it creates a weak point on the chassis as well. I will end up doing the brace when I get my suspension sorted out and then I will be looking for a strut brace after that to really tighten up the front end.

I have been looking hard at my steering box in the Corolla and was wondering if they share a common problem with most small Jap cars especially Datsun 1600's , which is chassis rail flex under the steering box when turning. This causes the whole steering box to actually move on the chassis rail and give a vagueness to the steering which also felt like bad steering box adjustment/freeplay. My old 1600 was renowned for it until I made up a basic brace that bolted to the top of the steering box and the inner guard. Mine was pretty simple as it consisted of 4mm alloy plate with a right angle and another 4mm plate that bolted to the inner guard. This reduced the flex to almost zero and ended up making the front end feel much more direct in turns. Anyone had any experience with this at all in their Corolla at all ?? The reason I ask as I am considering bracing up my steering box and thought I might see if anyone else has noticed this in their car and are looking for a way to fix it. When I first noticed it in the Datto I was going to rush out and pay roughly $100 for a premade one from Datsport or Maddat and when i saw how simple they were I decided to do it myself. A bit of work with a drill and a file and I had a brace that may not have looked like it was CNC'ed from billet alloy but is sure did the job Your thoughts and opinions much appreciated Regards Keith

Lowering Blocks And Reset Springs Help Needed
OMR510 replied to OMR510's topic in General Mechanical
More Questions....lol I am getting xt130 struts for a cheap brake upgrade and will later do the bigger vented brake conversion. However I really don't want to have to modify the struts to suit the ke3X springs. I have done some research and apparently the xt130 springs will make the height more than a standard ke3X overall height. Looking for the best coils to lower the car 2-3" , so can i use xt130 lowered springs or will I need to use something off of another model and then get lowered ones to suit. Also do the xt130 struts add positive camber to the vehicle and is the offset of the hub greater than standard ke3X hubs as my rims are just inside the guard and I don't want my shiny new wheels pushed out any further. In regards to diff choice I am looking for a Corona MK2 diff as its 4stud and all i will need to do is get my spring saddles mounted to it. Plus there is a wide range of ratios and LSD's available for them as well as probably being the closest width wide.I also prefer Banjo diffs to salisbury style as there are easier to remove and rebuild imo I would also like to thank everyone who has posted on this topic so far, you have all been very helpful. Regards Keith PS I got my custom shiny new Koni Sports Adjustables on wednesday !!!! Just need to sort out what I am doing to the front and then order Koni's for my front struts. -
Lowering Blocks And Reset Springs Help Needed
OMR510 replied to OMR510's topic in General Mechanical
Thanks for the help guys, now I just need to find someone in Queensland , the closer the better to help me reset them as it sounds like the best thing to do. -
Looking for a place that sells lowering blocks specifically for Corolla rear leaf springs. Yes I have searched and can't seem to find anything but generic ones and I have no idea of what dimensions I need, I know I want to lower it 2-3" but thats all. Also I have heard of rear springs being reset etc ,once again best place for doing it or any suggestions at all cause I reckon the rears are a bit tired and its probably a better option than the lowering blocks. Any help much appreciated. Regards Keith

Suspension... Everyone Has Already Asked!
OMR510 replied to tbo92's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
more thread resurrection....... I checked out the Whiteline site for swaybars and the only ones listed for the KE 3X series exclude the wagon. Anyone know why or have any ideas as I really want to improve my cars handling. AFAIK there is no real difference in suspension between the sedans and wagons. Feel free to prove me wrong though as I am a Rolla noob lol -
I am planning on keeping the granny spec look (for now) with the only changes being, new steering wheel (old one way too thin) tacho (hidden except for blazing light when shift light goes off ) decent front seats (try to get retrimmed in same or similiar pattern) lowering of course , want to find some 15inch steelies (bit wider for the back) but I am trying to keep it all rather stock looking. Have added some new pics which you can see the interior etc plus I am half way through polishing and giving a general tidy up In case you were wondering about the plates the used to read Mister Five Ten when on the 1600, but i think its pretty appropriate that the read Mister SLO now lol Thanks for all the support guys its appreciated

Hi there all, new to the Rolla Club but will soon be a very active member in regards to picking peoples brains.I just bought a genuine granny spec KE38 Wagon with an original 160,000 on the clock which I plan to do a rotor conversion in. This wont be my first rotor conversion as I have already had a Datsun 1600 with a 13B BP in it. Anyway I thought I would post up some pics and put the feelers out as I need a lot of info on brake, diff and suspension upgrades/conversions as well as interchangeability of bits between various Toyota models. I am a mechanic but I am more familiar with Datsun stuff and Holdens ( I work in dealership) So anyway if you have info or can link me to relevant posts pm me or just post here. Anyway enjoy the pics (taken off phone so excuse the quality) REgards Keith Update: Seen quite a few different engine combo's on here for sale now, might forgo the Rotor conversion for some 4cyl Turbo power. Koni adjustables in the rear now. Going to have my rear springs reset and get my front struts sorted asap
