1965 Crown Deluxe Overdrive Question
71-BEETLE replied to 71-BEETLE's topic in Automotive Discussion
It's a column shift manual I should have added -
Hi all. Wondering how to disengage the over drive gear on a crown. To engage it when the right revs are reached a dash light comes on. Take foot off gas. Till light goes out. Then gas it again and it grabs "overdrive". How do I get out of overdrive? If this is in the wrong spot mods please move.

Nope. Already gots me self a 1971 beetle and a 1964 beetle. If you all must know. It's a vs commodore ute. 3.8l, 5 speed manual. Hard top. Lowered. 20 inch rims. Tint. Exhaust. Intake. Pretty much the cleanest vs I've ever seen. And I know it's a Holden etc etc. But they are a cool car. And I've already got plans for my next car. After that. And you'll all forgive me once you find out what It is. -

Hahah I don't plan on selling it to get thrashed. I'll be sure to send itvto a good home. And the car is most definitely not a lambo. Possibly one of the furthest cars from it -

Heater will stay for now. I didn't do a compression test on it cause my testers at a mates house. But instead of doing just tge head doing the whole motor. It'll cone out once tge heads off and sent away for skimming and porting and polishing. Ordered new bearings pistons rings etc. Thinking about cams but not to sure yet. Also Gunna clean the bay up. Hide wires and seam weld. -

Ones on order now. Be here this afternoon. It doesn't matter anyway. I buy my coolant and oils in bulk. Mainly cause I get really good deals if I do. Should my exhaust manifold have an outer heat shield? It's got one on the engine side but not the radiator side? This would be causing excess heat into the radiator wouldn't it? I will check the resistance. But don't know the stock figures and don't have a manual for it yet. Do you think I could post em up here and someone could check for me? -

That's preety much what I'm thinking. Might even remove all carpet and get some floor mats glued down etc. I had a bride seat in my ksev. But when I sold it I said it can either come with a bride seat or varex cannon. He chose seat. So now I'm stuck with a cannon I can't be bothered to put on and no bride seat. So the cannons up for grabs too If Anyones interested. I've currently got the steering wheel from my 71 beetle in it. I like it alot but am on the lookout for another sports wheel. How do people go about short shift kits? Do I cut some of the shaft off and put a knob on it? Or is there a kit. Rims I do but not saying to much just yet. Trying my hardest to save for em. -

Yeah I will. I forgot to add if Anyones keen on these rims. Post up here or pm me. They have old but still plenty of tread tires on them. I haven't got the coilovers yet but they are about to be sent. I used to have a ke70 that I stripped. I Will do it just gotta see where I'm comfortable. Cause I wanna have a little bit if carpet in the front I think. Not sure yet. I've also been looking at bucket seats. That's a little bit off yet tho. -

I've Decided against a pod for now. As I'm a p-plater. I've been pulled over at least once a fortnight for rbt's were I've ended up outside the car while Po-Po go over it. I don't speedaround town or have anything wrong. I've never been defected for anything or lost points for anything like that. So I'm trying to make it look. As legal as possible for now. So I was thinking tho, a pod in behind the front bar like I said wouldn't be as obvious but would get wet. That's why I've decided to go with a better air cleaner. I've ordered a flex pipe for cai, so I'll post up picks of the set up once it's done. -
What pcd are they? How much you want for em? And how good are tge tyres? I'm after some rims for my van. These would be pimp. Lol

After Market Tacho Not Accurate Reads Double

Hey guys, i had the same issue with my VW Beetle, loved revving it to like 8000rpm cause it didnt have a resistor, the resistor you need is a rectifier diode. From dick smith its part number is IN4004, or it may be replaced by IN4007. If you keep it out of the engine bay and well insulated itll give you the correct reading on 4 cyl engines. They are cheap as and only take 2-3 days to get delivered if you buy online, which is easier then trying to find a store with them -
Ive just done the same thing with my charade and a few mates cars. Get into the bin and get everything that hasnt rusted. Then i can cut the smaller pipes out and put the bigger in, i even jagged a wrx pipe for my mates liberty, that thing sounds loud now. I'm just interested in the flowing and merge of the header you have pictured. I'm fairly new to the exhaust fab on straight 4s but understand on a vw beetle. Are they close to same length etc. And whats the go with the inert gass flow? I don't get what it would do?

I can weld alright. Might make this one the dirt track racer then. Thanks for the help all
-
Yeah this car will maily be a track car. Only driven on the street if i need to test something out etc, not gunna be a daily or weekender. What would you suggest if i wanted to drive it to the track etc i would need to do. Whats this gunna cost roughly too?
-
Nope, not that clever. I'm trying to set up a car to learn to drift in, at a track, not on the street. And this mod is one of the first in which i have been told will be helpful. It is also one of the ones i feel confident doing.

Hi, I'm about to purchase a KE55. It has a stock diff, i want to get a locked diff. Where should i start looking for one, and a rough price. I can put the new one in, but i am NOT WELDING THE DIFF. Probably another noob question but what is the stud pattern of a KE55. Cheers
